CR for class levels?

So I'm building an NPC human sorcerer. I was thinking that I remembered the CR for a creature with character levels was the CL -1. But I cannot find that particular rule.

Anyone know offhand the page number where I can ascertain whether I remember correctly.

Its important because I want to add the half-fiend template and the SR is 11+CR, so I need to know whether CR is 9 or 10.

Thanks - I knew it was in there somewhere. CR however is a hard term to look up using the PDF search function as it brings up every word that has a cr in it, starting with the credits on page 3.
