Just to be clear - Stone (in ST armor) is escorting Allerick into a room while the rest of the team hangs out in the hallway about 12+ squares away?

Sounds right to me.

Well, it sounds right, but when you repeat it back like that it sounds more... daunting. Perhaps foolish even. But yeah, that's what we're doing.

yeah. But when you say it that way, it sounds so much more dire.

It does sound nasty, doesn't it?

"I can be ready to provide support, Allerick. Don't worry, ok? I'll make sure not to hit you." Smiling, Kess will move near the doorway, taking position just out of sight.

Readying an action to throw a Force Slam at bad guys inside the room if trouble breaks out. I'll be trying to aim so as not to hit Allerick or Stone, if possible.

Colvin will keep his ears open for the sound of anyone approaching.

Perception - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

As you enter the room, the bulk of this room is taken up by computers and other communications arrays. The far wall juts outward slightly to make room for a massive computer column, which obviously forms the
base of the satellite dish attached to the top of the facility. Blinking lights and flashing monitors indicate that the station is obviously in constant communication with someone, and displays show sensor readouts from around the station and elsewhere on Felucia.

You see several communication technicians seated at various positions within the large room (3 squares up and 12 squares across) as well as a young officer supervising over the shoulder of one of the techs.

The officer sees you enter and turns an angry shade of red, advancing on your position while spewing hate and expletives.

"You know you don't belong in here grunt! What is your ID worm? Who is your squad commander maggot? You are a stupid #$*& idiot! Answer me!" he shouts angrily to Stone as Allerick is ducking behind.

If you didn't want me here, then why did one of your circuit heads put in a call? We have more important things to do to keep this place safe then answer false alarms!

Is Allerick able to find someplace discreet to work, or does Stone think he'll need to keep up a distraction?

Your response only seems to make the officer more mad.

"Get the *^&$ out of here until I confirm the orders with the Captain!" he screams, showing you to the doorway and then opening it to usher you out.

"Oh poodoo! I used to hate your type in the old days. You sniveling little beetle. SHUT UP! I outrank you by so much that when I'm done with you, you won't be able to look at me from the pit I assign you to. Do you know I am?!? Internal Security Service. One word from me and this man puts you up against the wall and shoots you. So shut your mouth and listen to me." Allerick steps out from behind Stone and straightens his jacket. "I have been assigned to audit the computer systems in this base for security. You will step aside and give me room to work. Any comments from you will be taken as treason. Do I make myself clear? You, soldier, if he says anything other than Yes Sir, shoot him."

Deception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Stone readies his carbine, 'cause with that Deception roll, I think he's going to need it. Let's see what the good officer has to say about that...

Nothing ventured, nothing shot in the face.

True, true. And a detected lie could go two ways; the jig may be up, or he may be even more intimidated at the thought you are something worse than a mere auditor. Paranoia was rife in the Empire, and for good reason. Still, Stone is ready to shoot him in the face.

Can we hear this from the hallway? I assume yes now that the door is open.

Colvin Dashwind wrote:

You can't make it all out but you can see Kess from your position if you lean enough and she just turned six shades of white and her hand went to her lightsaber handle.

I remember in the D6 Star Wars book they had Han talking to the technicians when they were raiding the prison wing as an example of a failed deception check. This feels the same for me. All Allerick had to say was 'How are you?'

The young and brash Lieutenant, clearly skeptical at Allerick's posturing, calls for his subordinates to back him up.

You see three communications security specialists getting up from their posts and reaching for their weapons.

Initiative checks for everyone

Officer: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Security: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Initiative 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Does anyone have a book handy? What is the damage for a stormtrooper's blaster carbine? We are still unpacking following our move and I'm not sure where my SW Saga book is...

Carbine does 3d8+1 for you. Also, you are at +4 to your Reflex Defense due to the armor (effectively 20 for you now).

Stone, Colvin, and Toby can now act before the Imperials.

Stone - you are first to act.

Stone will shoot the officer in the face.

To hit 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage 3d8 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) + 1 = 7

Then he'll shout Drop your weapons! There's no reason to die because this idiot is too arrogant!

Want to add a Force roll to that?

Please give me a Persuasion roll as well.

Can I move to the doorway and shoot? I am not sure I want to yet but I want to know if I can.

[ooc]If it is not too late, I'd love to![/b]

Force Point 1d6 ⇒ 3

Persuasion 1d20 ⇒ 18

Colvin Dashwind wrote:

Colvin - you are a double move away, so no you can't.

Those in the hallway hear the distinct sound of a blaster being fired.

Stone - the officer crumples to the floor, clearly not in the mood to push his position. His subordinates see him shot in the face and back down, raising their hands in a sign of non-agression.

Nothing ventured, nothing shot in the face.

Thanks for the tip! It looks like it is working pretty well.

EDIT: Hey look! Plasma diplomacy!

Allerick, Alistair, and Kess still need to roll initiative.

Colvin and Toby can act - all you know is that Kess looked shocked and you heard a shot fired. Keep in mind you do have short-range comlinks.

"I am assuming from the blaster fire things are not going smoothly?" Alistair quietly asks Kess through his comlink, his hand already on his still holstered lightsaber.

Initiative 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Toby dashes down the hallway when he hears the blaster fire, coming to a quick stop at the doorway in the doorway when he sees the two techs with their hands raised and the one on the floor. Its not real clear just what kind of ruse may have served to gain their surrender, but clearly it took more than just words. Thinking quickly and figuring he's less likely to be questioned himself in a subordinate role, he tries to explain his own sudden presence. "Another execution, sir?"

Colvin and Alistair - you both see Toby run around the corner after hearing the blaster shot. There has been no response on the comlink from Stone or Allerick.

You are both next to act.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin will keep watch to make sure no one comes running. If he heard the shot no telling who else in the facility did.

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Allerick Hosh wrote:

Allerick - you may now act.

Sorry for the lateness! I really need to work on that. So, can I cancel my readied action then?

Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Kess was frozen, hand over her lightsaber. The repulsor-train wreck happening inside had all her attention. Allerick's bravado, combined with her dread over his impending fate, had her stuck to the floor, all plans of charging in forgotten.

Kess - you are free to act now. Since you can only ready a single action, you couldn't use your Force power since you didn't have line of sight.

Allerick goes for his hidden blaster and fires directly at the brash officer, shouting "TRAITOR! Traitor to the Empire!"

Deception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 3d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4, 3) + 2 = 12

Allerick - you sure you want to do that? See my post from Stone's actions earlier this morning.

Very quietly, Kess responds to Alistair, "They may have things under control. Stone...well, he shot somebody in the face, but the rest aren't shooting back. Allerick may be creating more havoc than necessary though. Be prepared to move in. We may have a firefight."

Trying my hand at MapTools. Let me know if it works!

Prison Map - Round 1

BUMP - anyone care to do anything?

Eamch stands with his carbine raised to his shoulder, sighting down at each of the communication techs in turn, occasionally flickering back to one just to show he can retarget quickly if he has to.

Shall we secure them? Why don't we have the others come in and close the door?

Doh! That's what I get for checking email on a very tiny screen...

Revision: Allerick will quickly move over to a terminal and begin downloading specs for the facility, prisoner lists, and schematics of automated defenses.

Use Computer: Can I take 10? If so, 19.

Kess, Toby, Alistair, and Toby - let me know what you are doing?

Allerick - you can begin once I hear from the rest of the team since we are still going in initiative order.

"So, you want us to join you or should we keep an eye over here in case others come along?" Alistair asks through his comlink. Seeing as how Colvin seems to stay put for the time being, the Jedi is intent on backing him up unless they are both told to move to where the rest of the group is.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

"If the room is secured it is probably a better bet than staying exposed out here", Colvin whispers to Alistair.

Toby will nod his head at Stone and then glance at Allerick, not sure if they have gave fake names or anything else so keeping things as generic as possible. "That is probably for the best, soldier. You know how focused he becomes when he is working, we had better make sure that they don't disturb, uh, sir. I'll signal the rest of the squad."

He leans out the door and waves for the others to come join, showing his weapon to indicate they should come in guns out but making an obviously confused face since he can't add any more information about what the ruse actually is.

Congrats, Tarlane! You got the 1,000th post for our thread! *Throws confetti*

Not taking his gaze away from the techs, Stone will say Sir, these men appear to be cooperating with our security investigation. Let me know if you have any further instructions regarding them.
