Round 2
Fires at the plant...

Miss Chance 1d100 ⇒ 65
To Hit 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 7, 6) + 4 = 20

Stone, Colvin, and Allerick fire on he plant. Allerick manages to connect. The plant is flailing about and appears to be quite hurt, but it is not down yet.

Next to act is Toby and Kess.

Can I act as well or is Alistair still under the spores' influence and swatting at illussionary spiders?

Pausing for an instant, Kess centers herself before leaping into action. Tumbling into range of the main plant body, she strikes as she comes up from her roll, putting the momentum of her motion into her swing.

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 1
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Lightsaber attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Lightsaber damage: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1) + 3 = 8

Stone, who is normally unfazed by anything, gaps in awe at the Jedi in action. To no one in particular, he says Wow. It's one thing to hear the stories and the claims, but it is something else to see the real thing in action...

Tamara, are you in a position where you can confirm that crit?

Alistair Cray wrote:

Sorry about missing your name!

Spore Attack on Alistair:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 **miss**
Spore Attack on Kess:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 **hit**

Alistair is able to come to grips and take his actions, suppressing the spores affects for the time being.

Kess dances up to the plant and is overcome with the impression that she is suffocating. She loses all thought and desire to act other than to catch her breath.

A few notes: The miss chance is for ranged attacks only. The spore effect is triggered by proximity to the main plant body and will occur each round you start your action in it. I will roll when the plant attacks going forward to avoid confusion.

Shaking off the spores' effect on him, Alistair once again attempts an attack on the plant's main body and slashes horizontally at it, the lightsaber's blade leaving a blue arc behind it as it moves. 'It feels like it has been too long,' the Jedi ponders as he attacks, 'and I am out of practice.'

Melee attack (lighsaber) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Damage (energy, slashing) 2d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8, 1) + 1 + 2 = 12

Alistair swings and barely misses the plant.

The spores strengthen and grow into a considerable cloud, obscuring even more from a distance.

The plant whips a vine at Kess, the new arrival.

Vine attack on Kess: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 **miss**

The spores renew their assault on the fortitude of the two Jedi.

Spore attack on Alistair: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Spore attack on Kess: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 **hit**

Kess - you still have the impression that you cannot breathe. You must spend your standard action trying to breathe.

It is now a 50% miss chance on the plant with ranged attacks.

It is now the start of Round 3.
Here is the intitiative order:

Stone
Kess
Allerick
Colvin
Alistair
Toby
Plant

Feel free to act in any order before the plant.

If firing at the plant, please remember that it is engaged in Melee. If you do not have Precise Shot, you take a -5 penalty to hit.

In addition, there is a 50% miss chance if you do hit so please roll that as well (d100). High is good - low is a miss.

"Kill it! Kill it!"

Allerick fires again at the plant!

Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Damage: 3d4 + 4 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 4 = 13
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 68

Alistair tries again, this time a stabbing attack against the plant's body.

Melee attack (lightsaber) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Damage (energy, slashing) 2d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8, 6) + 1 + 2 = 17

It is the spore cloud, not that he is rusty or anything. Or that his player cannot roll a die, albeit a non-existent one, to save his life...

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin takes another shot at the plant. "This is getting bad, we need to end this!"

Miss Chance 1d100 ⇒ 30

Ranged Blaster Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Blaster Damage 3d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4, 5, 2) + 2 + 2 = 15

Stone takes a step back and levels his blaster again, trying to make out a vital target on a creature he's never seen, and not hitting his new found friends through the haze and chaos...

Miss Chance 1d100 ⇒ 36
To Hit 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Damage 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (4, 5, 3) + 4 = 16

The plumes of spores are too much, and Stone's shot goes wide out of fear of hitting a companion.

We suck... :-P

I realize I acted before Toby did. I will DMPC him for last round.

Toby will shoot at the plant, hoping he misses the two Jedi.

Blaster shot at plant: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (17) - 5 = 12

Toby and Kess are next to act before the plant.

Allerick Hosh wrote:

Attack: 1d20-1

Miss Chance: 1d100

Allerick - per the new rule, your gun jams! It takes a move action to clear it.

Indeed! I checked in last night and all was well and quiet and then this afternoon there were 24 new posts! I don't see anyone who is terribly injured or has been driven down the condition track, so Toby is likely to just join in with not being particularly skilled with his blaster until those who actually know what they are doing in combat give their dice a good talking to.

Drawing up his pistol to take careful shot, Toby Aims through the haze at the creature that has grasped him as well as is attacking his friends. Its a longshot, but he's ready to go for it.

I realize Aiming doesn't help in this situation, doesn't help with concealment or precise shot, but he'll do it anyway.

1d100 ⇒ 34Concealment
1d20 - 5 ⇒ (7) - 5 = 2Including Grapple and Shooting in Melee Penalties
3d6 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) + 3 = 11 Damage

Ugh. Thats not even worth a force point to try and salvage.

Also DM, Do I have a Destiny made for this character? I am happy not knowing what one you might choose for him, but I was just curious if you had picked out something.

Since Kess is affected by the spores this round, I will move it forward.

Kess continues to clutch at her throat, gasping for air.

The plant whips a vine at Alistair, since he is still swinging.

Vine attack on Alistiar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

The spores renew their assault on the fortitude of the two Jedi.

Spore attack on Alistair: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Spore attack on Kess: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

It seems the Jedi catch a break. Neither of them are affected this round from the spores. The obscuring effect is still at 50% for ranged attacks.

It is now the start of Round 4.

Here is the intitiative order:

Stone
Kess
Allerick
Colvin
Alistair
Toby
Plant

Recovering from the illusions of the plant's many spores, Kess faces her enemy once more. "This must end. We cannot be delayed much longer."

Lightsaber Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Damage: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7

"Double Damn! When we were shopping for this planet we should have looked into some weed killer! Keep your heads down, my Jedi friends, I'm not that good of a shot!"

1d100 ⇒ 100Miss Chance
1d20 - 5 ⇒ (17) - 5 = 12Attack including grapple and lack of precise shot
3d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 6, 1) + 3 = 11 Damage

If my total attack roll is above 10 I'm going to use a force point on it. If its under 10 its not worth the point.

1d6 ⇒ 2 Force Point for attack

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin fires again. "Doc how much more punishment can this thing take! Good thing the Empire hasn't recruited these thnigs for a new batch of Stormtroopers!"

Miss Chance - 1d100 ⇒ 84

Ranged Blaster Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Blaster Damage - 3d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) + 2 + 2 = 11

"We have been attacking this plant for quite some time now and we keep missing," Alistair comments to Kess who is close enough to hear. "This is somewhat embarassing you know."

Melee attack (lightsaber) 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage (energy, slashing) 2d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8, 7) + 1 + 2 = 18

It's up to Stone now - four misses in a row. Toby - you were "this" close!

Sorry, been down with the flu.

Stone braces his blaster in both hands, aiming carefully, though he wouldn't know what passes for a vital spot on this thing.

Using a force point to hit. 1d6 ⇒ 3
Miss chance 1d100 ⇒ 64
To hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 (includes force point results)
Damage: 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (5, 1, 4) + 4 = 14

With practiced precision, Stone focuses on the target and delivers a killing shot!

Upon impact of the blaster bolt, the plant flops around spasmodically and then goes still. When that occurs, the surrounding plants that were grappling everyone ease off and stop moving as well.

In short order, the spores begin to settle and the Jedi emerge - freaked out a bit, but unharmed physically.

Everyone please roll me a Perception check

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

"Why do the plants want to eat me? What did I EVER do to plants?!?"

Allerick - You see movement in the direction you were originally heading. It doesn't appear to be green or leafy ;)

Alistair Cray wrote:
Perception 1d20 + 8

Alistair - you feel as though you are being watched but you don't see anything at the moment.

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Shutting off her lightsaber, Kess says to Alistair "Good work. Who were you trained under?"

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Toby Tolen wrote:

Toby - you spot a humanoid figure approaching on some type of beast (roll me a Life Science check to see if you know the type). He appears to be approaching cautiously.

Tamara & Stone - you feel as though you are being watched but you don't see anything at the moment.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 Life Science

Toby will nod to the others and then glance towards where the creature is approaching, trying to signal the group as subtly as possible. "Something comes. Could be a man."

He'll add whatever he knows based on his knowledge check to that statement.

He is riding a kybuck - a mount.

Picture of Kybuck

Be careful everyone. The rider may not be alone.

Is he far enough away that it would be worth getting out electrobinoculars for a better look?

Tamara Kess wrote:
Shutting off her lightsaber, Kess says to Alistair "Good work. Who were you trained under?"

"Not sure if I would agree with you," Alistair replies as he returns his lightsaber back into its hidden holster. "All I managed to do was resist the spores and avoid the plant's attacks. As for actually hitting it, not even a scratch."

"I was apprenticed to a Master Xaeree, an Iktotchi Jedi Knight. I am not sure that you would know of him though, since we both were a bit far from the Core and Inner Rim worlds for the better part of the last decade," the man continues. "And you? Although somewhat younger than me, you seem quite controlled and collected. Your own Master's influence?"

"I trained under Jedi Master Zeharik Ulshun, a bothan. I suppose his serious manner simply rubbed off on me." Pausing in remembrance, Kess shakes her head, and continues, "I wouldn't be surprised that I haven't heard of your master either. My master and I spent most of our time cataloging Force anomalies, and then on the front lines during the war. Not much time for roster searches when you have to fend off battle droids all day."

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

Colvin will peer in the direction of the figure that Toby spotted to try to determine if it appears armed.

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

"Maybe this guy coming down the path hasn't seen all of us yet? Maybe some of us, you know, survival types, should hide in the deadly man-eating foliage and ambush him when he gets here? In case he's one of the many people who seem to want to kill me, um us?"

As the man realizes he has been spotted, he slowly dismounts and raises his hands to show he is unarmed.

A man’s voice echoes through the swampy area.
“I come in peace if you do!” shouts a man with a thick alien accent.

As the stranger approaches, you notice he is a middle aged man with a scarred face and long stringy gray hair.

Male Human, Scoundrel 2/Soldier 1, HP 41/41 (Thresh 21), Init. +9, Per +8, Force Points 3

I assume he is Human?

"We are not here to bring any harm to you I can assure you of that. In fact I have a funny feeling that we may be able to help each other".

"Indeed! We're here in a purely aid capacity to deliver some assistance to a good friend of ours, who is in desperate need of our assistance. If you could just point us in the direction of the nearest Imperial facility and then promptly forget you ever saw us, we'd be ever so grateful."

After Allerick speaks, the man (human by appearances) stops dead in his tracks. He glances around furtively while shouting out to you, "Imperial facility did you say? You are affiliated with the Imperials?"

"Not exactly. We're not really fans of the Empire, you could say. But a friend of ours is affiliated with them and he's...looking for some different skies, let us say." Pondering a moment, Kess says, "Do you know anything that could help us? We're not going to do the Imps any favors, that's for certain."

"Not with the Imps then? So you say."he asks warily.

"Then what's he want with them then?"he asks while pointing at Allerick.
