Simple Templates

Rules Questions

RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

I was working on creatures for The Cheese Grinder and applying the simple templates when I ran across a few questions.

1. Can you apply the Celestial and Fiendish templates to any creature? Half-fiend and half-celestial require a living creature, but there is nothing stating that for just Fiendish. So can I have a fiendish shadow?

2. Can you ever apply the same template twice? Can you double advance a creature? Could you apply the giant template on a goblin 5 times?

3. Weird combos with templates, apply the young and advanced to a creature, it is +0 to the CR but their dex, int, wis, and chr all to up! for free! How about a young giant? How about a young advanced fiendish allip?!?!?!

1. Yes -- it's influence from the plane as much as anything else... in the lower planes you could have an fiendish fire elemental for example.

2. Yes. Yes. Yes.

3. Sure I have a creature just like that actually in real life. It's a dire child (I call him son). 4 years old and bigger than most six year olds... he's still young but he's an advanced version of human.
