Question for Doug Miles - What happens when you have a TPK? Does the society fetch the bodies? Is it dependent on the scenario? I have only had a single PC die here or there, no TPK. Just curious on how to rule it if it happens at our events. Obviously low level PC's can be chucked in the trash, but a group of higher level PC's who have the PA for raise dead is another story. Thoughts?
This was answered sometime back by Josh and then lost into the mists of the archives, but I believe his viewpoint, while it was still the official one, was that a TPKed party is retrieved by another group of Pathfinders that goes in to finish the job and whoever had the gold or the PA for the raise dead or resurrection or stone to flesh or whatever was needed to restore the character could do so at the end of the session.

This is still the case and will be clarified in the campaign documentation when we roll out the updates.

The Exchange 5/5

I've only TPKed one party before. They were all local GMs. Their characters were killed in a place that was far beyond the Society's reach, and their bodies were raised as undead servants. They had neither the gold nor the PA to resurrect their characters had I given them the chance, which I did not. Being adults they accepted their fate and moved forward, occassionally pointing out to me that they would have been able to help the slot zero table happen if they had a living character in the mid-level range.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Excellent - Thanks for the help!

We have not had a TPK in over 100 tables run, but I am guessing that it is only a matter of time. Good to know.

Shadow Lodge 4/5 ****

The only time I TPKed a party was in the basement of an in use Pathfinder Lodge so I assumed the bodies were easily recoverable.

Dave,
Now you know why Naadhira gives people business cards that read

"Please return my body to Naadhira al-Zawree, embalmer [address in Absalom]"

I unfortunately TPK'd a party of 1st levels who would not get the hint of "you each got 130gp in loot already and are in a city (Absalom)... you CAN go buy healing material".

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink--so true!

Though there are provisions for making a dying horse drink a potion of CLW :)
