Taggrik nods to Saorise and goes over he side swiftly with a splash. He walks up through the low water, out and starts crunching up the beach towards the sleeping figures of Stefnir and Drago.

Saorise DC12 Perception check

Spoiler:
Despite the waves and beach Taggrik is almost marching up the beach, directly towards Drago.

Saorise DC15 Perception check

Spoiler:
As he nears the sleeping Drago, Taggrik is pulling out a dagger from his belt.

Saorise DC20 Perception check

Spoiler:
Unnoticed another mysterious carved rune has appeared on the decking just where Taggrik was moved to.

Female Human (Krieglander) Frost Sorceress 2

Perception Check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Shaking her head as she sees Taggrik jump over the side into the water, she happens to glance down and her blood runs colder than usual at what she spots. Her eyes narrow and she quickly looks at the form of the First Mate as he makes his way up the beach.
Springing to her feet, she kicks Jorgen as she rushes over to the edge of the boat and calls down a howling wind to buffet Taggrik as he approaches Drago.

Casts biting wind on Taggrik (details of the spell can be found in Saorise's Profile under GM INformation)
Biting Wind Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Non-lethal Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

The Exchange

Initiatives for Jorgen and Saorise and Jorgen can wake straight away.

Taggrik is about forty feet from the side of the Albatross, he lifts the glittering dagger free of his furs above the sleeping form of Drago. Then the howling winds spin around the man knocking and twisting his body from side to side, making him stagger a little.

Taggrik Fort Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Male Human (Kreig) Inquisitor 2

Init1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

The Exchange

Just to help things along, Taggrik initiative 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10, if Saorise beats this then she can act first.

Female Human (Krieglander) Frost Sorceress 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Saorise continues with her biting wind attack on Taggrik (8 round left after this one)
Biting Wind Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Non-lethal Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

The Exchange

Taggrik gets down on his haunches and pulls back the hair of Drago, no one can see what he is doing with the dagger to Drago, but he is taking his time.

Jorgen's go. Taggrik makes a Fort save of 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Too bad someone stole your voice ;-}. This group has a long way to go towards becoming a team. Should be interesting to see so many characters used to being "lone wolves" learn to work as a party...fun,fun,fum.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

I think the term 'howling winds' may be a bit of a giveaway as to the noise levels!

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Male Human (Kreig) Inquisitor 2

Awakening rather abruptly, Jorgen tries to get a clear overview of the situation but realizes he was more tired than he thought.Perception1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Bleary eyed he only has a moment to focus as Saorise unleashes the frigid winds, catching up a javelin and hurling it at Taggerik.

Attack1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The Exchange

Can I have Perception checks and initiatives from everyone else? I'll then sort out a bit of a map but this weekend is complicated by my son having a birthday party but I'll try to fit this in when I can. Thanks.

I'm back, so Kurn is good to go again

Not necessarily, I need a Perception check and initiative roll from Kurn please. I'll put it all together tomorrow when I have recovered from all day adventure park with seven kids. At least it meant I missed the football, thank God.

Perception

1d20 ⇒ 20

Initiative

1d20 ⇒ 19

The Exchange

Second Round (the one that matters)

Everyone (bar Ari) made their Perception checks and can act this round. Although the howling winds is actually more of a breeze so Kurn only just heard the sounds of Saorise's spell.

Jorgen's javelin grazes Taggrik across his left shoulder and tumbles into the cliff wall behind him. Taggrik continues to battle the struggling Drago, his dagger getting ever closer to the captain's throat. To those onboard the Albatross all they can really see is the struggle, but those on the beach can see just what Taggrik intends. His eyes are almost glazed with battle anger.

Initiatives
Anya 23
Kurn 19
Stefnir 17
Helga 14
Ragnar 10
Taggrik 10
Jorgen 5

Remember it is a move action to stand up from sleeping before most other actions. Also everyone is on -2 Strength and Dexterity.

Ari snores on beside the fire, dreaming of young women of dubious virtue.

Map to follow shortly

The Exchange

The map I have sent to Dabbler who I hope can provide a suitable link, it isn't my best work, apologies for that but time is a bit precious at the minute ad this fight will be over in a round.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

Here is The Map!

Helga will take in what is happening in a glance.

"Taggrik NO!" she screams loudly and attempts a bull rush to knock him away from the captain.

CMB Check: 1d20 ⇒ 3 (reduced from exhaustion)

I think we can call that a complete failure!

Male Human Druid 2

If Stefnir is within 30' of the action he will spontaneously cast summon Natures Ally 1, and summon an eagle to make a full attack upon Taggrik. If he is not within 30' he will summon the Eagle who will fly into Taggrik's face to distract him and make one melee attack.

Stefnir struggles to his feet at the cries from the shore, struggling to the rail he sees the captain being attacked..."Wings of fury open wide"! Stefnir screams in a tired raw voice, while pointing his finger at the area where the captain lies.

Talon, Talon, Bite (1d20+3=10, 1d20+3=18, 1d20+3=15)

Damage (1d4=4, 1d4=4, 1d4=1)

If only one attack the first attack probably missed, but maybe it distracted Taggrik a bit. Flanking may apply according to the captains condition, and maneuvers of other players.

The Exchange

How long does summon nature's ally take to cast? summon monster spells are full round actions..

French Wolf wrote:

It's full round also, so I guess I start it this round, and finish it midway through next round, which should leave me a move action next round I would have cast a storm burst, but don't know the range, and I knew the summoning would work even if the eagle had to move.

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Kurn sits up and sees Saorise casting her spell "what is going on?" he shouts

Female Human Barbarian/2

Hearing the wind and commotion Anya sits up instantly alert and aware, if still weak and weary. As she sees Taggrik trying to kill the man they just worked so hard to save the Barbarian flies into a howling fury. Yet knowing that time is of the essence, without standing up she whips out a javelin and launches it at the seemingly possessed first mate.
Attack & Damage:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 251d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Don't know what the penalties are if any so didn't include them

EDIT: Not sure what happened there, why it added 7 twice as I didn't type it that way. But I think the roll is 18.

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

Ragnar leaps from his ratty blanket and charges for Taggrik shortly after Helga attempts to rush the sailor.

Bull rush vs. Taggrik (standard action, move action spent getting up; CMB roll reduced for exhaustion)- 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Three car pileup!

Female Human Barbarian/2

don't know what I was smoking when I made that last post but it's just a normal roll. don't know why it looked so different to me at the time...?. Please ignore my earlier insanity

The Exchange

Taggrik intent will not be deflected by the pile of bodies beside him, he puts out one hand and pushes Ragnar and Helga to one side, but Anya's strike does cause another grievous wound.

Then he prepares for the deathblow, Drago has expended all is energy and lies like a wet fish. Taggrik streaming blood from the two javelin wounds and pummeled by Saorise almost grins as he lowers the dagger.

Saorise can have a few words chat with Kurn and in fact I missed her off the initiatives, this is it folks, one or the other will probably fall in a few seconds. Then its Saorise, Kurn and Taggrik to act in that order.

I put your insanity down to some kind of deep immersive barbarian rage roleplay, Anya. Cool.

Female Human (Krieglander) Frost Sorceress 2

Saorise glances quickly back at Kurn and informs him of the situation before returning her attention to stopping Taggrik.

Saorise continues with her biting wind attack on Taggrik (7 round left after this one)
Biting Wind Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Confirm Critical Fumble: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Not really the time you want a Critical Fumble is it... :(

The Exchange

But very honest of you, Saorise. Kurn you can get up and have one action to save Drago, otherwise Taggrik will coup de grace him.

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Realising that he's too far away to intervene directly Kurn chops at the rune that appeared on deck in attempt to break it's control over Taggrik

The Exchange

Indeed there is a new rune carved on the decking where Taggrik was moved to and as Kurn chops away the magic fizzles out.

Taggrik looks down at his hand and dagger in horror and then drops it next to his captain. He struggles to his feet swaying from blood loss and looks around at the people on the beach.

"What happened to me? I saw flames and a captain torturing me. I heard the crew taunting me as I was burnt, they had me tied, but I'm no runecaster? I'm not that man. I just wanted to kill the captain of the Albatross, every captain."

Taggrik shows his open hands, "But why would I do this, Drago is a man I trust?"

Male Human Barbarian (Sea Reaver) 2 HP 22/23, NLD 0; AC 16, FF 14, T 12; Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +1; Init +4, Perc +6

Ragnar rises warily from where he fell, wet sand clinging to half of his face.

"Uh buht 'ou wuh puh-suhss'd buh uh ghust uhn duh suhp. Uht uhll muhcks suhnse uhf 'ou thun' uhbuht uht..."

The exhausted mute launches into a detailed lecture on various supernatural happenings aboard the ship, but his exhaustion and excitement coupled with a few severed vocal chords results in an inarticulate jumble of syllables and hand gestures that is unrecognizable as human communication.

Female Human Barbarian/2

Rising to her feet, exhausted though she is, Anya radpily makes her way over to Taggrik and the captian. Knowing little to nothing of magic, rune or otherwise, she is in no way yet close to being trusting of the man who just came so very close to killing the captain.

Moving to stand between Drago and Taggrik, pushing the confused first mate out of the way with the haft of her spear if necessary, Anya glares at him as she says "I do not know what game you play at now villian but make one false move and I shall end your life, here and now!" The look in her eyes lets Taggrik know she means every word of her threat.

Although she allows her rage to subside, causing her to sway for a moment, she keeps the business end of her spear pointed at Taggrick's chest.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

"You must have been possessed," Helga says, and glances toward the ship. "I'd wager we have one of our more magical friends to thank for your recovery," she lays her hands on Tagrik and murmurs her healing spell, then does the same for the captain.

Casting cure light wounds twice, uses up all my spells for the day.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"I'll stay by the Captain and keep watch, make sure no-one harms him. I'll wake one of you in an hour."

The Exchange

Take a look at the discussion thread please.

Taggrik dumbly lets Anya push him around, still confused by what took place. He barely acknowledges the healing touch of Helga, and stands lost in thought.

Finally he speaks again,"The ship wants to kill the captain, any captain. IT IS cursed, I was burnt on board for being a ..... a dwarf! For my runes!."

Female Human (Krieglander) Frost Sorceress 2

Watching from the the ship, Saorise sees Taggrik drop the knife and step away from Drago. She keeps the wind close 6 rounds remaining, but halts it's assault on the First Mate to see what he is about, since the others are all gatherd by this point.
"What is going on," she calls down to the shore, wanting to know whether or not Taggrik is still a threat and wondering what made him stop.

Female Half-Elf Bard 2/Ranger 2

"Tagrik seems to have recovered ... I think he was possessed!" Helga calls back. "He said he was burned to death for being a dwarf who could scribe runes!"

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Having chopped the rune, Kurn looks at Saorise. "Maybe we can get some sleep around here!" he grumbles. "However, until somebody can ensure me that this ship is safe from interfering magic, I'm going to sleep onshore much to my disgust".

Kurn wearily goes over the side and walks on to the beach to find a sheltered spot to sleep.

Female Human Barbarian/2

Anya's head moves back and forth as she listens to the conversation between her sister and Saroise. Ignorant of much of what they are speaking of she does understand the word 'possessed' and involuntarily takes a step back from Taggrik. When he starts going on about being a Dwarf being burned alive she finally starts to accept that something very strange is going on and she lowers her spear point. She does not yet lower it completely though.

The Exchange

Kurn can bed down behind Ari, his broad back provides some shelter and his snoring has a gentle tone. Kurn's brother sleeps on oblivious to the recent events.

Taggrik nods to Helga and Kurn, "we should get the crew off the ship." He spits on the ground and turns twice, "but I'll not board that Marked ship this side of winter. Not on my mother's best pollock pie."

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

Kurn stares at Taggrik with disbelief and shakes his head."For Krakis's sake! I've already suggested that once!" he states angrily to everybody.

When Saorise's wind dies down he shouts toward the ship "Get everybody off the ship and on to the shore right now! You're all in grave danger!"

Diplomacy

1d20 ⇒ 17

Female Human (Krieglander) Frost Sorceress 2

Saorise drops the wind once she hears what was going on and scowls at Kurn's taciturn grumbling.
She does agree with him about getting everyone off the ship though and races around, making sure that noone but herself an Jorgen remain onboard for the moment.
"What do you want to do?" she asks Jorgen. "Do you think we should remain onboard or go ashore?"

The Exchange

Tired and disgruntled, the crew slowly get to their feet and with much cajoling from Saorise and Kurn on the beach they get off.

"Why can't we just sleep?" asks Injgald, to which Taggrik shouts back, "because the ship is cursed. It is possessed by an evil spellcaster!"

Soon the crew is on the shore, they are too tired to argue and soon one by one they all drop off, although not before Taggrik and Injgald have held a quiet argument, with Taggrik holding the younger man by the arm and shaking him.

Before long the cove is quiet again, the crew drop back to sleep as the sun rises higher in the sky. Its warmth added to that tiredness is hard to resist.

Anya

Spoiler:
Freki grabs at the woman and asks her, "what is he talking about? You all said there was no curse. Your sister said it wasn't true."

Male Half-Elf Cleric 2

"Right, we need a watch while we sleep, both for security and to keep an eye on the ship. I'll start as I'm already awake" he grumbles, "then I'm getting my head down until last light. Whoever is on guard at last light, please wake me".

Kurn moves to a point on the beach behind a sand dune where he can watch the camp and the ship.

Male Human Druid 2

Stefnir watches his summoned eagle wink out of site from the deck of the ship. He places an approving hand on Kurn's shoulder when he sees the positive effect his disfiguring had on Taggrik.

"Thank god you were so astute", Stefnir intones. "it might have been the end for the captain without your intervention".

He then grabs his meager belongings, and staggering from fatigue, moves to the beach to try and find a soft spot to pass out on.
