Throwing things as an improvised weapon...

Rules Questions

This may sound like a vague question, but what exactly are the limitations on what can be used and thrown as a weapon?

What are the opinions out there and why?

I want to know how much damage a thrown arrow does...

That is a good question about the arrow. Anyone?

It would also be interesting to know what an arrow would do as a melee weapon used like Legolas did.

Also, to be honest, the real reason for this thread had to do with me. ;)

I was wondering about grappling with things and then using a move action to maintain the grapple and then a standard action to throw the grappled enemy at another enemy.

Is that reasonable?

Arrows do dagger damage as an improvised weapon. I believe that's in the arrow description. Honestly arrows shouldn't be able to be used as throwing weapons, but if someone took throw anything as a feat and could kill me with a mini-stapler I would let them throw arrows as improvised daggers.

1d4 damae with a crit on 20 only seems fine to me.

I was curious about the arrow because I realized that since my alchemist can add his Int mod to any thrown weapon it would deal more damage if I threw the arrows then if I shot them.

In my games? 1, and you don't get to add anything to it - no strength bonus, no precision-based damage, nothing.

It's not an item that lends itself to be thrown well.

Throwing Arrows

Eh?

That's a weird way to rule for people who have the Throw Anything feat.

I think same damage as a thrown dagger is pretty accurate. Although I did just double check and the Int mod to damage Alchemists get is only for splash weapons, sad.
