Right, here's the first pass at it. 20 point buy, is that right? The core book assumes a 25 pt, starting from 8 in all stats.
Anyhoo, Cordal is mostly a diplomat who can double as a pilot. He's definitely more of a talker than a fighter.
Yeah, go with that then. I reworked the charts to do a 20 point with base 10 assumed. I forgot that the raw states different.

Alright, so it looks like we have a diplomat listed above. Does anyone else have an idea of what they want their characters to be looking like? I'll get my character built when I get home in a few hours, just trying to get an idea of what the rest of the team is going to be looking like so I have an idea of what we can make the most use of.

Would a Gungan scout, eventually going into Bounty Hunter, be out of place. If it is, I'll just go with a human instead.
Only so far as the going bounty hunter might be out of place. Of course you call him a skip tracer and have it work fine.

Hey, the Republic needs people hunted down as much as anyone else.
Anyway, what's the starting level?

![]() |

Start with 8,000 credits. It depends on what you need whether the Republic will supply it or not. For example they would supply you with ship, and they might supply you with a protocal droid if your mission called for one. I would say that anything you want to have all the time, you should buy. Anything you think you can get by without from time to time, you should requesition from the Republic.

Cordal Mhoy |

Okay, Cordal Mhoy is now updated with his 8,000 credits. There's not a lot for a Jedi to spend credits on, so he mostly has a useful line of credit. Might come in handy.
David, can you tell us anything about the game's background? Events taking place, where in the continuity we'll be adding our little story to, etc?

I'm a little confused, just wanted to clarify, are we doing 20 point buy, starting with 8's in all stats, or 20 point buy with base 10 stats?
*edit* I just check Cordal, looks like 25 point with starting stats at 8, correct?

Aye, core rules as written.

The New Republic is pretty much up and running at this point and Luke has reclaimed the Jedi Temple and established the Jedi Order again. However, he has learned from the past and has spread out the traing facilities across the galaxy. The most prominate one is Tibania City, which was an attempt to compete with Cloud City that was abandoned and after the return of the Republic given to Luke to establish a Jedi training center. There has been some trouble with Mandalorians in the Outer Rim, and negotiations with the Imperial Remnent to Joing the Republic as an autonomus region have reached a critical and tense moment. Leia has been elected the new Chancelor of the Republic, with Han, her husband, having been elected as Senator from Corelia. Han is not happy with that at all. Luke is married to Mara Jade, a former Imperial assassin and a key member of the Jedi Council. Han and Leia have a son named Anakin and Luke has a son named Ben, both of whom are Padawans. Chewie is still Han's bodyguard and co-pilot when Han can escape the tedium of being a senator. The biggest thing going is the Reconstruction Corp which is a joint effort of the Republic and the Jedi to help planets rebuild and recover after the reign of the Empire and the Galactic Civil War.
Anything else you would like to know?

Hey David, do you have a specific time of
when you would like our characters done,
works been pretty hectic with me, and I've
been a little dumbed down by character builder...
ugh im a little slow at making characters
now :)
If you can get it done by this time next week it would be great.

That should be no problem, but just so you
know I'm new to pbp games, so any additionalinformation that I need to know about playing
would be great.

Well, This is a pretty discussion of pbps as a whole.
Also, 8000 credits is a lot. I mean, I already bought four weapons and a bunch of supplies, and I'll be lucky if I've spent half of it yet. Not complaining, mind you.
On a side note, is there any real reason to get a blaster rifle over a blaster carbine? Carbines can be used for AoOs and are both lighter and cheaper than rifles.

Thanks Davi, just checked that out, good read :)

Sorry for my silence thus far; I missed the link here from the recruitment thread. I'll get to work on my character tomorrow. Thinking of going with a scout/spy type of character, probably Nautolan.
Wow. We're just going to be chock full of scouts, aren't we?
*shameless bump*

All the more reason to take my Jedi along.

I wish we could upload our own avatars; might have to let this character be female to better match it.
Would it be okay to simply use the credits generated from my Wealth talent, 20 000 in total, as my starting funds? Also, how would you like us to handle the rolls required to obtain licenses for restricted items, such as a blaster pistol, and the rolls for hit points gained at second and third levels?

I would actually prefer that you pay for the licenses. You are representatives of the government after all. And yes it would be okay for you to use the credits from your wealth talent. I trust you to be honest with your rolls for hit points.

Character will be up very shortly. My SWSE book had been stored since I hadn't been expecting another star wars game to come along anytime soon. Apparently the weather and my house conspired together to make sure to remind me that was a bad plan and I ended up needing to track down a new copy of the book. I finally found one last night, so I am building my character as we speak.
With all our scouts in the party I am going to be making a Noble I think so we have someone who is a little chatty. Probably the officer type.

I was planning on going the legitimate route of obtaining licenses. But even after the fee is paid, a DC 15 Knowledge (bureaucracy) roll is required to obtain a license for a restricted item. Failure means the license is not obtained, and the application fee is forfeit, though the process can be repeated until successful. As a result the cost of a license can often be several times the base percentage listed in the book.
How do you want us to handle these rolls?

If you're looking for lacks, we could use someone who's good with mechanics. I haven't seen a good tech person yet. Mhoy's a talkative type, face man/diplomat.

Narmin'Tier |

Alright, here is what my character should be looking like. I'm going to go through and pretty up the character layout a bit and check it for any errors I might have made, but I think this is what we are looking at.
Unfortunately, Mechanics isn't on the Noble skill list so I couldn't pick that up without cross classing out. I tried to cover a lot of the knowledges and can serve pretty well as a communicator as well. I am only missing some of the more specialty science type knowledges and I suspect that if we hit a point where we are advancing levels I will be picking those up with feats.
If anyone has any suggestions on the character, let me know, I'm more than willing to look into any changes while we still have a chance. Otherwise, I'll be getting my background up soon and should be ready to go whenever we start.
Oh, and also, are we making use of destinies? If so, do you want us to select one, or are you choosing one behind the scenes for us? Honestly, I'm fine with the latter, if that is what you prefer, it is fun to have some mystery.
2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9 HP for 2nd and 3rd level.

Just buy the llicense, no rolls required in this case.

So, two or three social types, two scouts, and a doctor. So, anyone else feel like pooling some credits and buying an R2 unit?
If that's too many social types, I have an alternate character: an Ewok Scoundrel mechanic/tech nut. He's ready to run if we feel like we need a skill monkey for the mix.

Davi The Eccentric |

Actually, now that I look over the characters submitted so far, it looks like the only skill we're really missing is Mechanics. If I switched out Weapon Focus(Rifle) for Skill Training(Mechanics), we should be able to get by well enough.
Also, it seems like Dokal's more of our computers person than a social type, so we should be able to handle two social types.

I'm looking for a small hovering or flying droid for Dokal, with the ability to record holo-footage as well as assist in hacking computer systems and storing data. I tried to design a unique droid, but the rules for doing so are vague unless you're building a heroic droid as a character; no idea how to determine ability scores or class levels, let alone the price connected to these factors. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

There's a holo recording droid in the Legacy book. I imagine something similar could be modified in this era?
