Yeah. Could you get me the names of the folks who won that monster contest?

It was Tom Baumbach and Mark Spano. You'll see the game mechanics credit mentioned here. I'll go back and try to find the original post announcement if you need it?

Or maybe it was a different contest? Hm. Let me look around.

Could you guys check this out? So far I have been getting the usually optimizers but I'd like some opinions from friendly faces as well as neutral ones.

Pshaw. I was hoping a friend of mine would win.

Which one? Didn't both KQ and LMPjr have monster design contests?

Your criticism echoes what I've heard over the past few years, M.

I really wanted him in KQ, but he said he had limited time and went with LPJr. I hope it wasn't limited time wasted. Egg on my face...but maybe he'll listen to me in the future when I extol the virtues of KQ.

If I were to comment, I'd say it seems fine to me, but you could invoke DM Fiat if things go off the rails.

That's why I'm putting my comment here. :)

I think he had a better chance with the LMPjr contest. From what I understand, there were quite a few entries to the KQ contest (including my doppelrat, which was one of many self-cloning monsters entered into the contest--oops).

There may have been another thread or maybe some contents were permanently removed? It could be archived by now. I think the contest I'm getting confused with was the one where you had to determine the CR of the creature's statblock and that's what Tom and Mark won. The recent contest is something different; I guess I am getting them mixed up.

Mairkurion was referring to the contest where you took the statblock and came up with the "fluff" for the monster.

Correct. And that's true, I thought his chances would be better there. But he only did one of the monsters, instead of all three, which was not ideal.

Ok, so I did get 'em backasswards. :D Yeah, I wonder why he hasn't come out to say what it is ... but I assume that whatever was submitted was not going to be used for rasons unbeknownst to us. *shrug* It'd be best if he'd just come out and say it and get it over with.

Actually I would have to invoke DM Ford, since I don't drive a Fiat. :)

Still gathering some info and typing stuff out. I'll be bumping it up either of Friday or next Monday.

Nope; I just wanted to read it as it went along. :D Even though I technically have a bit more time on my hands, I'm resisting PbPs and any form of FB games for the time being. I have enough vices. ;)

I am the terror that eats your posts!

Yeah, I decided my three regular cups this morning weren't enough, so a bit ago I made myself two cups of espresso...

I am having my first hallucination free day (so far) since friday. Lord, I hate head colds. Between the fever, the lack of sleep, and the lack of oxygen once the asthma complications get started, it makes for some very interesting (in a bad way) experiences. Here's hoping that I don't end up with any nasty infections from this.

Wow. I hope that you continue to improve.

Out of curiousity, do you have any air purifiers/allergen removers in your home?

I just bought two Honeywells today in hopes of being able to breathe when I wake up. Also, when I came back from Kentucky after being gone for eleven days, there was a visible layer of dust on everything. :( I am going to run them for a couple of hours in each room and then plug them in for good in my living room and bedroom.

I occasionally use coffee as a melting agent to put sugar into a drinkable form.

Thanks. No air purifiers yet, though they are on my wish list. But living with dogs when you are allergic to dogs is not such a good thing. We're trying to find a good home for the creatures so that I will not have so much asthma trouble.

Wow, Lynora, you're in worse shape than I realized--maybe I missed a couple of posts. Take care of yourself. :(

Good afternoon all.

I am taking a look at your encounter David and will post something sometime about it.

Lynora take care of yourself.

Well, good luck with finding a home for the doggies.

On another note, I have an emoticon question.

What are the specific meanings of these two emoticons:

:(

:/

The Thing from Beyond the Edge wrote:

Best guess: 1. sad 2. annoyed.

I am applying for summer jobs fighting brushfires. It will be interesting.

OK, thanks TAD for a best guess. I am still looking for a definite because I have made frequent use of :( to be sad and I would hate to be giving the wrong impression.

See ya. Time to retreat away from the computer for now.

:( - definitely sad

:/ - I find this gets used for a lot of things. Annoyed, certainly, although not usually in an angry way. Disappointed might be closer. It can also be sympathetic in a "sorry to hear that" way. That's my experience anyway.

Yeah, :( is sad.

:/ or :\ can be annoyed... I guess I thought it had a nuance something a little weaker than annoyance, if anyone wants to help.

So what should we do with :| ?
