I have a question for those gamers out there where ever you are. :P Especially those who may also create artwork...
I am getting ready to start a d20 future campaign and thought it would be good to help set the atmosphere to have a lot of visual aids. But, I am not a great artist myself, especially with digital. So, I was considering using a lot of art that I have found on the 'net to make handouts. I plan on including on the handout the artist's name as well as the web address of the pic or the gallery it came from. I plan on avoiding using those with "buy this print" labels and those with "stamped in" trademarks which I assume is to prevent such use.
So, is this an inappropriate use of the artwork that others have posted online?
That is what I would like hear others' opinions on...

WTF?
Does that WTF apply to the "what did I miss" post or did it apply to my JOKE about not liking Mac & Cheese being unamerican?
If my joke was misunderstood as being something else than a joke, you have my sincere apology.
Stupid internets not displaying emotion even w/emoticons. :(

Three times I tried to load this page and all I got was a blank, so in a confused effort to make posts show up, I replied 'WTF?'

If you're worried about it, the best thing to do is look for stuff published under the Creative Commons license. I know KQ and other publishers use it to put uncommissioned artwork in their articles/publications. There's some good stuff out there that's essentially free to use, and under the circumstances that you're describing.
Just a thought.

That makes sense. Now I understand. :)

We're getting to the page-limit point in this thread where new pages will not appear unless you post something.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind.
Anyone have any thoughts on using other work not at the site listed above? (Note: I have already copiled a bit of work and was wondering about its use...)

In my opinion, it's kinda like recording a television show. You can watch the recording over and over, for your own personal use. If you're using the artwork for your own personal use, then there shouldn't be a problem. If you were publishing your adventures anywhere (even for free), then you'd have some trouble, but, if you're just handing out images for your table so your players can visualize things more clearly, that seems reasonable to me.

The OG FaWTL!!! thread went 437 pages before Gary shut it down. The 2nd one went 420 pages before Gary noticed it and shut it down. His cutoff is about 400 pages.

Thanks. After looking for only a couple of minutes I found two of the images I am planning on using and it took me a whole lot longer to find those the first time. :)

No, my universe is not made up entirely of female NPCs. I just looked up those in creative commons for a quick check.

Good luck with that, yo.
+1. I never tire of that or Spaghettios. :)

Normally, I just make whatever seems to suit me at the moment and in creating this batch of NPCs I seem to have made quite a number of female ones. Of my six NPCs so far, I have three women, two men, and a little boy.
I think that a "roach thrall" (only a CR2 or 3 but it gets inside someone sort of like the bugs in MIB) will probably get one of the NPCs while they are crashed on the planet and trying to repair the ship. Probably one of the "chicks" or maybe the little boy. :P Nothing like the threat of laser or powder gun combat inside a patched together spaceship in the vacuum of space or like the shock of seeing a giant bug rip its way out of the body of the girl you were eyeing. :P

finally caught up and now going to go take care of errands
On the bright side, we did get the painting done yesterday, and it looks awesome. :)
On the down side, one of those errands is taking a carpet cleaner to the apartment to clean paint out of the carpet where one of our volunteer help who wasn't entirely sober while painting stepped in paint and tracked it across the hall.

I like those. And, why is having a universe full of female NPCs a bad idea? :)
