There have been a couple of things that happened that bothered me. One of them actually cost someone a vote. I'm probably being petty, though.

Okay, I started by focusing on the names of the monsters. It may be small to some, but a great monster with a sorry name is not a great monster. So I sorted four groups based on how good the names of the monsters are. I admit it: after I did it, I bumped one or two entries up from the 3rd and 4th into the second group because I really like the people. But I'll only bump them into the second group. Now I'll read through group one, and separate that out into groups and or eliminate as I go, then do the same thing for group two, proceeding until I find my four votes. I doubt I will need to read groups 3&4. Sorry, if you can't make up a good name, then you're not a Super Star.

RPGSS 2010 Round 2
I can tell you guys are dying to know more about my process. Therefore, I will reveal the numbers for each category, graded from A to D
A - 7
B - 8
C - 8
D - 9
Looks like I only bumped one contestant up from C to B, after all. Also, one of those A's in an A-/B+.

Yeah, round one just handicapped you. Now we'll see if A&B give me my four votes, and which ones, and how easily. Hopefully I won't have to dip down into C, but if I do, I'll read in order of how bad the name is until I get all four.

Ah -- leave it to a fellow vegetable to notice my absence from these threads! :)
And yes, it is quite an adventure, but there's about 7 months of intensive planning and preparation that's gone into it, so it should work out fairly smoothly. I hope. ;)
As for the Russian mafia .... yes, if I disappear after resuming posting, you might suspect them .... or it might just be an overdose of Natasha's delicious but deadly potato and cabbage soup ;)!

Peace, dude. Have a good journey.
But really, they do have the internet there... Me? I'm in back-ass China.
Thank you, kind sir!
And yes, the map of Chernobyl fallout makes even me laugh. ;) I do have one, though -- and it's pretty detailed.
Yep, they've got the Internet there -- I've been to some fairly backwater towns and haven't seen one without some Internet support at least, and Minsk is no backwater. I take it from what you say that the Internet is about as rare in China as it's common in the U.S.?

Most internet users of any country in the world. Home broadband access, percentage wise: I don't know how that goes, but there are web bars everywhere. One thing is for sure, Chinese net rocks, I pay about 100 USD a year for a pretty good broadband connection in my apartment, and at work we have huge bandwidth. The whole web infrastructure is totally new and pretty well run, here. I can get a technician to my house in about an hour (24/7) and I don't pay a cent for such service.

Well, if I just vanished from the boards, I doubt that anyone would notice, other than a vague feeling that a minor jackass might have sloughed off somewhere along the way. ;)
But, at the start of next week, I'm leaving the U.S. of A. for at least the next 3 months, and probably quite a bit longer. I have no idea if I'm going to have much time for posting on this message board, so I may also disappear for a similar amount of time from here. Or I may be back in a week. Who knows.
Anyhoo, I'm heading over to live in Minsk, Belarus. My lady, Natasha, is a Russian, and she's got relatives in Belarus. I've been there twice already, I speak Russian moderately well, I like the country (it's probably a bit cold for a lot of people, but I like cold), and I know a few people over there from my previous visits, besides the relatives of the soon-to-be-Mrs.-Bean.
Since I can do my freelance travel writing online from anywhere in the world, I'm going somewhere that 1. I like, and 2. it's cheap enough for me to live decently. I'm sick of hand-to-mouth in the Second Great Depression here, and so, I'm migrating to cheaper pastures for a while, so that I can save up my earnings rather than see them evaporate into bills and groceries in a couple of seconds, and return with a bit more money in my purse so that I fix stuff that needs fixing, buy stuff that needs buying, and maybe have a bit left over in case of emergencies.
I've got my visa, all the paperwork I need to apply for a residence permit for longer-term stay, a good apartment lined up, a map of Chernobyl fallout so I know what areas of the country to stay away from, some moola, a good laptop to do my work on, and my airplane tickets purchased and ready to go.
So, come Monday morning -- Clan Bean (all 2 of us so far ;)!) is off on an adventure! :)
Only one thing I can say CB "Have fun Storming the castle"

I don't know how many gabjillzion hours I spent on reformating this laptop. Why do I have this OCD desire to tweak just every little thing to juice the speed a bit more or config a registry entry? Now I need to retrieve stuff that I backed up onto the external drive.
Will I learn from this misadventure? Probably not. :D
Lyn's driving down to MB? Prolly is going to drive right through my city. Should drop by and kindly hand me the Tiamat. Hehehe.
And on that note, I should crash....

It's funny, the Russian mafia now has a compound on the family land from my father's side.
They abandoned it (in Latvia) when the Russians invaded during WW2... and last year my father went back to visit the family who stayed. They couldn't see the old land because huge mafia goons had it roadblocked. They threatened my dad (yah, a bespectacled granfather).
