Cleric Questions

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

My gaming group and I are starting a pathfinder society campaign soon and I have decided on a negative energy focused human cleric, taking the sacred conduit trait, improved channeling and selective channeling for feats, the problem is I cant decide on a god with class abilities and spells I like for 2 domains. There is the option of not having a god but just a divne code or whatever, but I think I read in the archives that it isnt an option in the pathifinder society for that. Any recommendations for a god or domains that would compliment well?

Pharasma.

Why Pharasma, for the healing focus that im basically losing? I was looking at Lamashtu for madness and trickery, or Asmodeus for magic and trickery.

I'd actually suggest Abadar, for Earth & Law or Earth & Nobility. The Acid Dart from Earth is great. Law has a touch to give the target 11's on every d20 roll (very useful, especially to survive low levels of society play). Nobility has a very useful single target buffer that lasts longer as you go up in level.

Buy scrolls of cure light for "healing that you lack", at least after the first game. Wand as soon as you can.

Yeah I had read that the acid dart was very useful, which domain between Nobility and Law would you say has the better spells, I'm current afb, but I would assume Nobility since the Chaos, Law and such seemed redundant from what I recall.

Sovereign Court

Asmodeus, Fire and... well anything else really.

Now why are the ranged touch things that dont scale well so useful? I must be missing something, acid I can see being useful but is it just for the spells in the fire domain?

Sovereign Court

Burning Hands
Produce Flame
Fireball
etc etc

Plus a "free" Fire Resistance at 6th level.

Run around channeling negative energy and flinging firebolts until you get higher level, then run around channeling negative energy and fireballing (at your own feet) later.

Burn baby burn.

Nice! I just got home, don't know why I didnt look at Fire before, I think I will go with Trickery too for some nice charisma synergy and the spell list looks better then Magic to me, although I love the hand of the acolyte ability I must say.

The alignment domains now have *much* better powers, but their spells are still mostly ick (not useless, but ick). So yes, Nobility has good spells - Divine Favor, Enthrall (which I can see being extremely useful on occasion in PFS), Magic Vestment always nice.

Also, do I want to max out my Cha to optimize my D/C, or is a starting 16 after racial okay?

Sounds like plenty to me. Don't be afraid of an odd stat though - you'll spend a large portion of your PFS career in levels 4-7.

Yeah I was concidering actually a 17 Cha and a 15 Wis cause I can have a 19 Wis @ 16 and then dump the other in either Cha or Wis at 20 if we ever got there.

If this is a Pathfinder Society game (as opposed to a Pathfinder Adventure Path or Campaign setting game), then you will only ever hit level 11 (max level for society play).
