DMs - How did you further tie your players' backgrounds into CoT?

Council of Thieves

Im starting this thread mainly because im curious to see how other DMs (if any) are tying their players backgrounds into the CoT campaign.
Maybe this thread can be used as a resource of sorts to mine for ideas, etc. Always a good thing in this community. :)

Keep in mind my group is small and we lost a player to a west coast move, we might have another return to gaming though in the coming weeks.

My group so far...

Undiniele du'Winter (female human chelish Sorcerer 2 with Water elemental Bloodline) - Orphan, street urchin type with an accent. Presently squatting in an abandoned building with a halfling named Raziel. She never knew her real parents.
Ive made the party's NPC Cleric of Iomedae her father, though she doesnt know this yet. All she knows is that her real father was a Seaman and her mother was murdered in an alley of Westcrown by some clawed creature (probably a devil from a future module in CoT). Her father, distraught, left her with relatives after the murder and returned to life at sea to find his purpose. Her foster relatives died a few months later to the shadows that plague Westcrown at night, leaving her to fend for herself. I might have the devil that killed her mother reveal this when they encounter it. Maybe ill have the devil smell the blood and kin connection of his previous victim on both of them and reveal it. This should drive it home for the player. ;)

Raziel (Halfling male Rogue 2) - This is a new player to Pathfinder and RPGs in general, and her only other experience was 4E which she didnt like. Im easing her PC into the roleplaying aspect so her specific background ties arent fully developed yet.

For now,I gave her an NPC contact, a human female Rundottari Lieutenant (and part time shady fence) named "Whisper". Whisper will be the party's bailout in minor jams with other Dottari and/or Noble issues. Im also making Whisper secretly "Bluehood".

Sirix (Human chelish Paladin 2 and DMPC) - This Paladin is a former noble house "troubleshooter" (assassin). He fell in love with his last mark, a female Cleric of Iomedae and eventually turned into a follower himself. He's still somewhat of a loner with regards to Iomedae, he wont set foot into the temple but practices Iomedaes teaching on his own. His love was eventually killed by that Noble house, Im waiting for a few more modules to be released in this campaign before I choose what Noble house was involved. This noble house will come to collect in some way in the later modules.

At the same time, if the party develops a strong bond with him (Raziel already recognized who he used to be) and one of them dies, I may have him mentally break down and fall from grace by donning his old armor and greataxe and turning to evil). This should shake things up abit. He'll still want to see this all through to the end as part of his vengeance thing if the party allows him to remain after that, perhaps the Cleric might still think he could be brought back to the light.

"Crow"- (NPC Chelish human Cleric 2 of Iomedae). Also known as "Old Crow", a grumpy, and burly, older man in his late 40s.
This is Undiniele's real father though she doesnt know it. The NPC has returned to Westcrown a changed man and wants to be with and watch over his daughter. He doesnt think he has earned the right to be her father, but he wants to tell her who he is soon.
Just waiting for a climactic moment to spring this on the player.

Any other DMs have some interesting subplots to share?
