I am getting ready to run the Darkmoon Vale set of adventures (Hollows Last Hope, Crown of the Kobold King etc). Reading through the Guide, it seems that there is a lot of opportunity for side treks and further adventure hooks. I was just wondering if anyone has come up with any or followed this any further.

How nice of you to ask, I was seeking a good segue to lead into this!
I am running the same set of adventures, and realized the same thing. I am filling the 'in between times' with adventures and leads from the Necromancer Games book "Glades of Death". Print copies might be hard to come by but the PDF is for sale.
There are 3 or 4 adventures in there that just reek of locations directly in Darkmoon Vale, like the Wolfrun Hills and Darkmoon Wood. Just a little name changing and they're good to go.
It's written for 3.5 and so there is minimal work to adapt them.

Necromancers new pdf adventure "Demonheart" seems like a perfect sequel to the darkmoon vale adventures.Th adventure brings characters from level 6-10+. It has dark fey, treants, hags, druids, evil cults, red caps. There is a 6 page preview on rpgnow that gives a decription of each part of the adventure.

I have run a year-long campaign set in Darkmoon Vale, using modified versions of Hollow's Last Hope and Carnival of Tears, for starters. The Dungeon adventures "Wingclipper's Revenge" fits in nicely with the fey presence in the woods north of Falcon's Hollow (a conflict I built up throughout the campaign), and "Cry Wolf" (also from Dungeon) fits in well because of the towns natural dislike for wolves.

These are both awesome suggestions!

I also tried to incorporate another adventure involving kobolds (which again fits nicely if you run Crown of Kobold King / Return of the Kobold King, because it establishes the fact that kobolds live nearby). I don't remember the name of it, but it is from Dungeon, and is written by Richard Pett. It's the one where the PC's have to help two silly kobolds retrieve a miniature chain devil. I have run it before, and it's a great adventure. Alas, I just couldn't fit it into Falcon's Hollow... but maybe others can?

What issue of Dungeon was "Cry Wolf" in, and can we get a synopsis of the adventure? It does sound good to me just from the title.

I can try one from the top of my mind.. I don't have it in front of me.
It's about a small town who's plagued by the appearance of a wolf, and the mayor decides to organize a hunting party. I also think that this happens during a festival. Anyway, the hunters are possibly some rivals of the PC's, and if the PC's decide to investigate, they find out that not everything is as it should be, and that maybe the wolf isn't dangerous at all.
I think this fits nicely with the fact that Darkmoon Vale has had problems with werewolves before, and that they are a little overreacting when it comes to the animal. Maybe Magistrate Harg thinks this wolf actually could be a werewolf? If you have run an encounter with that werewolf girl from Crown of the Kobold King, the entire township may be on full alert!
The lead hunter from Cry Wolf (the PC's foil in this adventure) turned out to be a recurring NPC in my campaign, and also featured as the main "baddie" in Wingclipper's Revenge.

I'm running the same thing I think it's a great starting point for new players.Use your imagination, have them explore the vale.Maybe some fey creatures roam the area,or they stumble upon the crag it'self and decide to explore the bottom reaches of it???? I'm going to us the bat creatures from the 3.5 adventure....and see how my players react to it plus the area in the mountains is dwarven country according to the realm book...

Any new ideas folks ?
I am currently starting a new game in this area, and we are near the end of Crown of the Kobold king, after into the Haunted Forest.
My players are having a way too easy time of it right now. Time to make them squeal.
To think I was going to point you in the direction of this thread.
Haven't we squealed enough throughout the whole 1st level ? (BTW we played Hollow's Last Hope too)
Just so you know, I scrolled down and saw your post, so I have read only the very first posts and will stop reading this thread. I would not want to spoil the surprise (and the pain, and the death).
