put nadeq in d6.
Nadeq plan on casting sanctuary and under the protection from that heal any injured.
Maybe he could silence one of our front liners to make their spellcasting more dificult?
His only damage dealing spell is his spiritual weapon which he can keep active while he cast other spells. This will probably be his first spell, followed by sanctuary.

I'm going to be off the web for the next two days, please do not let that stop you.
For the next fight, Alia firsts shots will be for the scythe falcon, then the next ones will be for his master.
P.S. for Chris, as we are still in the Desolation, Alia and Swiftpaws initiative should be two points higher.

(chagrin) Yes, I always forget that. (If you could maybe indicate that in the Initiative line on your character sheet, I might have a better chance to remmber it. Or, it might become one of those well-worn comfort discussions.)

Done. It's challenging for me as well to trace all the ranger bonuses to skills, attack and initiative. And I've just got one character! at least it's not changing round after round like the APG Inquisitor.
By the way, I hope you had lots of fun at Paizocon.

As a side comment and not to derail the plot, I was wondering if the fact that Alia bow was made of demon bone would protect it from the warp wood spell?
There is no real rules about material like that in Pathfinder or D&D but I'm wondering if anyone had seen any ruling about it somewhere.
As a GM and for game simplicity, I would go with the rule bows and arrows, as well as all weapons usually made of wood are affected by this spell.

(just a long time follower of the thread)
Hello,
I could not help but notice that your mortality rate is awfully high. I have only a passing familiarity with the module (waiting for printed version before I commence reading stuff beyond first installment), however it seems that your party would immensely benefit from:
1. Channel Energy (Healing) (cheap mass healing to counter area effect spells)
2. Casters with Blindness, Bestow Curse, Stinking Cloud (to incapacitate brutes like these smilodons)
In other words, I may be wrong but it looks like there is no dedicated cleric support... and you may find that the going is going to get rougher at higher levels (as it's expected from Necromancer modules).
You are may favorite story hour, so please, do not die :)
Regards,
Ruemere

Yes.
I think Artimus and all the others will remember the honorable monk who managed to pull off the rampaging tiger before it could maul Artimus again.
@ruemere: Channel Energy is certainly a great tool, especially combined with Selective Channel and/or the Anti-Outsider Channel Feats. If scranford wants to go for that role, I think we have a Cleric waiting for us at the Spider/Undead infested mausoleum. And incidentally, Durnast DOES have Stinking Cloud, even prepared today :-)
...Glad to know you`ve been enjoying the game like I have...

Actually, Stinking Cloud is unlikely to benefit against Smilodons, however that was just an example of mine of a crowd control spell.
The players I run games for, admittedly at higher levels, tend to disable opposition first. I could not help but notice that nobody attempted to mitigate Smilodon threat (apart from Hypnotic Pattern) using Will-targetting abilities or skills (Intimidate - to force Smilodons to be friendly or, alternatively to demoralize them). Since clerics are probably the best mass threat mitigation specialists (examples for 7th level Cleric: Darkness - to break melee or provide miss chance, Shield Other - ranged damage mitigation, Bestow Curse, Summon Monster IV [d3 Lantern Archons for damage, 1 Hound Archon to use Aura of Menace]), I would strongly advise use of one.
Regards,
Ruemere
PS. I agree that Slumbering Tsar is brutal. However, the example of Artimus being able to stay alive proves, that it is just a matter of certain precautions (both dead melee guys do not seem to be particularly good at soaking damage as opposed to paladins) or presence of a cleric.
Since I am strongly against high character turnover rate, I would favor presence of a cleric (both Montague and Veren appear to be beautifully crafted characters - it would be shame to lose them permanently).
Quandary
If we can Resurrect Montague, I think using one of his defining Class Features, Stunning Fist, on a regular basis will strongly contribute towards personal/party survival. Stun, even for 1 round, can be a HUGE effect, equally or more effective then mere HP damage (when they have alot of HPs), especially when we have to move around and thus only get 1 melee attack. I think I mentioned using Stunning Fist several times when discussing tactics, but I don`t think it was ever used, which was a shame since it`s compatable with single/full attacks and even AoO`s I think.

I won't post for the next two days as I have a family emergency.
If every one stands down, Alia will do it as well and help to save as many lives as possible, reclaimers and animals as well.
She is fine with the reclaimers goal as long as they don't capture people but use demons to create their natural domain and is ready to help them in this direction.
scranford
S o would you want to take the chance and be reincarnated? Not sure we had a final answer.
don't think so. I can't imagine Montague lasting long in this format. The monk needs to use his mobility, and finesse to stay out of the way of bad things, and without the real battlemat in front of me, I'm having a hard time visualizing. Thanks thought.

Hi y´all, even as I write this post I really want to keep playing,
but it just looks like I don´t really have the time to consistently participate in this game for the forseeable future, and certainly not at the level that I think the game deserves. What that means for Durnast and Cam I guess is up to Chris, a spectacular death seems like something that could never be inappropriate. I may be able to step back in at some point, but I couldn´t say when or what the chances of that are. I WILL probably have to check up now and then just to see how our little group carries on thru the depths of the Desolation and Tsar... So best of luck!

At this point it's only one post every two weeks anyway. Might as well stick around.

Hello. Chris here.
My apologies about the last several weeks. A good play-by-post hangs on the continued activity of the GM, even under difficult circumstances, and I've let you guys down.
At first, it was Gen Con (prep and then convention) that had eaten my gaming brain, and then I fell ill earlier this week. This, on the heels of connectivity issues.
Which is all well and good, things happen, but I should have posted a note telling you all this. And I didn't. My apologies.
So, I'd like to take a tally now, of who's still reading and waiting to play.
Also, I've looked through the APG, and I didn't find anything terribly "broken" there. If you've seen anything in there, a feat or a spell or such, that you would like to incorporate into your character, please feel free to switch things around and re-build if you like.
(Anything major, like "Durnast is really a Witch", you should run by me.)
scranford
Spencer is ready to join the fun...and don't worry. I've got a whole stack of 7th and 8th level Characters sitting here on the activity bus waiting for the chance to die in the Desolation. Maybe we could run a side game in the afterlife, using my players that die in the campaign. ;-).
Veren Baccus
Heya :)
Veren's revised form is now available for perusal. The primary changes:
- 7 levels of "free hand fighter" package (drop duelist level)
- weapon finesse replaced with improved disarm as the feat is now redundant without duelist levels
- favored class bonus (previously +1 hp/level) is now "human fighter" bonus (increases to CMD)
- language "halfling" changed to "dwarven" as it seems to fit the backstory developed in-game better
- AC slightly up from switch to free hand fighter
- CMD in general improved over prior form
- some skills lower now as Veren loses some class bonuses from lacking duelist level (acrobatics, bluff, perform dance)
- damage down slightly
Edit: Oh, and the actual profile format itself is changed to follow the new standard that my characters use :)

I wanted to apologize for my disappearance, but my medical issues kicked up again to where I was spending way too much time with doctors that haven't left me a chance to get on here the last couple weeks. Unfortunately I have at minimum a few more months of treatment left, and with the issues I have been having with the process I'm not sure how often in the future I might end up either spending some time in the hospital or at least at the out patient every day.
Without knowing that, I think the most fair thing I can do at this point is drop out of things so that I'm not leaving you guys hanging at random times. I've really been enjoying the game and you all have been great, so with luck I'll get to join some of you in a game once my world has settled down for the long term.
Chris you did a really incredible job of picking up this game when it crashed and I do wish you the best of luck in the continued game.
Thanks again,
Tarlane
Nadeq
All right then.
Nadeq, Oracle.
Alia & Swiftpaws, Ranger & companion.
Veren, Fighter.
Rasina, Arcane Rogue.
Spencer, Cleric. That sounds like a reasonable party. The others will take up some positions in Camp.
We'll restart tomorrow.
Since i haven't got my copy of the APG yet, can anyone tell me if there are any feats or something in it that is more suitable to an Oracle than the feats in core?
Also, when i made him we needed a healer, but since we have a cleric now who can 1)channel positive energy vs undeads or to heal and 2) convert spells to healing, i would say we are good on that front. Do you mind if i change cure serius wounds to another spell?| Alia Wolfsdottir |

Nadeq, correct me if I'm wrong but you are missing one known spell for each level. From the Oracle spell description, all the cure or inflict spells are obtained in addition to the other spells known. So you should be albe to keep both your cure wounds spells and take another spell of each level. If I'm not mistaken, all the APG spells and feats are on the PFSRD server, se you should look at them. Featwise, I've not seen anything fancy.
To quote: "In addition to the spells gained by oracles as they gain levels, each oracle also adds all of either the cure spells or the inflict spells to her list of spells known (cure spells include all spells with “cure” in the name, inflict spells include all spells with “inflict” in the name). These spells are added as soon as the oracle is capable of casting them. This choice is made when the oracle gains her first level and cannot be changed."

Email I just got from Chris
I wanted to drop this note to everybody in the campaign whose email addresses I could find: I have tried posting in both the PbP campaign and campaign notes threads, multiple times each day, for the past week. Those threads are either "temporarily down" or else the thread eats my posts. (I post to the rest of the boards well enough, although they collapse regularly, too.)
This is terrifically frustrating. If Paizo's web team can't fix the problem, I suggest moving the game to another enviornment. (Contrariwise, it might just be an issue with my internet connection...)
I would appreciate it if someone who can post in the PbP threads would pass along this message.
