Leafar the Lost |
"It is after the end of the world; the final battle between Light and Darkness has taken place and those that have survived struggle to remake a new world.
It has become a primal world, shortly after the Re-Creation, when the New Gods still walked the world and the characters set out to create civilization.
It is a fantasy world of wild magic, mad gods, broken nations, savage monsters, and lost treasures."
Those were the winning hooks from Round 1, and when they are put together they create the start of an interesting new world. In short, the Gods of Light and Darkness had there final battle, and both sides lost! All of the Old Gods, and their armies, died, and the World they fought over was destroyed in their battle
The Creators, who made the World and the Gods in their own image, decided to Recreate the World. This time, they decided not to bring back the Old Gods who destroyed their first Creation. Instead, they resurrected some of the mortals who fought for the Old Gods during the Final Battle, and they made them the New Gods.
This is where You come in. If you voted in Round 1, or if you missed it, and if you want to become a New God, then reply to this thread. Pick the army that you fought in, Light or Dark, give me a name that you want to use, and tell me what you want to become a God of...
For example, Leafar the Lost fought on the side of the Light. When he was reborn as a New God, he wandered the New World completely lost. Soon, he began to find mortals who were also lost, and he helped them find new homes. In time many mortals began to worship him and build him temples. He became known as a god who aided travelers, the homeless, and anyone who was lost.
Also, there is a new question in Round 2:
How many moons does this world have?
#1: No moon(s)
#2: one
#3: two
#4: three
#5: four
#6: five
#7: six
#8: seven
#9: eight
#10: nine or more moons...
I trust that a lot of you will want to become gods, because I don't want to make the standard type gods you see in other campaigns. Also, hopefully your votes will reveal something unique about the Moon or Moons that I am not seeing right now. I will keep the voting and God requests open as long as people vote.

Technically speaking, no moons will leave the risk of your world being hit by an asteroid. It tends to hurt the ecosystem. Too many moons will actually slow the rotation of your planet, longer days and all, unless they're really small. Also, they'll play havoc with tides, which means that your coastal towns would experience a lot of flooding whenever the moons and sun align, rare as it may be. I could be wrong though.
I'd say two moons is fine. Most people associate moon phases with magic, Having the influence of two opposing major deities be associated with each moon makes for a good scenario.
Excuse me while I add that bit of lore into my own worlds. Haha.
Set |
Moons are often associated with triune goddesses or tripartate themes, so I'd go with three moons, but only two of them visible. One would be shining and clear, one blasted and scorched and a third completely occulted, it's surface utterly black, only 'visible' as a circle of darkness that blots out background stars as it passes overhead.
The 'unseen moon' might be smaller and in a closer orbit, as well, and sometimes pass in front of one of the other moons, ominously, and those nights are times of upheaval and disorder, as tides flow out of place and the earth shudders.
The secret moon or occulted moon would be associated with mystery and magic, and claimed as patron of all sorts of forbidden things.

Dragonlance had moons in different orbits that could pass in front of each other and cause earthquakes and tidal shifts? Neat.
Also neat that they tapped into the 3000 year old notion of connecting the moon to triune goddess Maiden/Mother/Crone religious motifs.
Also, try a lozenge.

Lol, sorry, I guess I didn't do as much research into the tri-une moon mythos.
I knew a bit about the Maiden/Mother/Crone thing, but I had no idea that the unseen moon was an established concept.
And yes, in Dragonlance there were three moons, the three 'gods of magic'
One white for Good, one red for Neutrality, and one Unseen (presumably black) for Evil and dark forbidden magics.

My divine contribution:
Insara fought with the forces of Light, serving as a messenger, courier, and to raise the morale of the armies of Light. When revived to become one of the new Gods, she wandered the land and beheld the remnants of the old world and the seeds of the new. Every person she met, she chronicled their story, so that the stories of the new world would not be lost. Every battlefield she found, Insara used the magic at her command to learn what had happened. On one of those battlefields, she found the story of her own demise and rebirth. With time, Insara became known as a goddess of wanderers, historians, chroniclers...and lost causes, for she had fought in the Last Battle between the Light and the Dark, and been struck down in the moment of the Light's victory.
Number of moons: 4. Two larger, two smaller. The smaller moons have orbits closer to the world. Once every so often, all four moons are in the sky in the formation of dark eyes, smaller moons before the larger. These nights are special nights when divinations grow strong and the paths of the future grow from murky to clear.

Vote : 6 Moons
The final war between the gods shattered not only the world, but the heavens. There are no more stars in the sky, no more sun. Only the 6 moons that spin around the world.
Six moons, each in it's own orbit, the smallest the closest, and increasing in size with each farther orbit.
Death : The innermost moon is the smallest, but also the most fearsome. It is an inky black disk that burns with shadowy flames and covers the light of the other 5 when it passes in front of them. It is also the fastest mover, reminding everyone that they cannot outrun death. It zips through the sky, hidden until it leaps out into view in front of one of the other moons, sucking it's light from the sky. This is the remains of the negative material plane, infinite yet the smallest, sucking everything into itself, almost like a miniature black hole. The black moon is associated with darkness, murder, and fear.
Fire : The second moon blazes with a dull red and sullen fire. It does not like being so close to Death, and so it's fires burn angrily with a sullen red light. Flames are visible dancing out around it's primary disk. It is only a friendly bright red when the outermost Moon is behind it, it's bright cheerful light shooting through the Red Moon. The Red Moon is the Elemental Plane of Fire, wrought physical. It takes the place of that plane. The Red Moon is associated with War, Violence, and Anger.
Earth : The third moon gives off a dull almost non-existent light. It instead reflects the light of the others in a dark brown manner. It is the one most like the real world. Diamonds and gold and other precious metals dot it's surface, making it appear to be coated in the stars which are no longer in the sky. The Brown Moon is the Elemental Plane of Earth wrought mortal, and takes it's place. The Brown Moon is associated with Stability, Protection, and Patience.
Water : The fourth moon gives off a bright blue light. It shimmers and glistens with the calm blueness of water. It is a huge globe of pure water and ice which glisten, blue-white ice at the poles and deeper pure blue at the equator. The fourth moon is the Elemental Plane of Water wrought physical, and replaces it. The Blue Moon is associated with Calm, Cold, and Food.
Air : The fifth moon gives off a dull gray light. It whirls and spins, different shades of shadow and light swirling through it's cloudy skies. A giant globe of pure gas, almost a gas giant, it is so far out. The Grey Moon is the Elemental Plane of Air wrought Physical, and takes it's place. The Gray Moon is associated with Storms, Tornadoes, and Clouds.
Life : The sixth and largest moon gives off a bright and soothing white light. This, the largest of the six moons, replaces the original sun, which was destroyed along with the rest of the universe. It is the elemental plane of Positive Energy wrought physical, and replaces it. While it shines, plants thrive, people heal faster in it's light, and in general things are better. When it is not shining, things hibernate, people become depressed, and no one is happy. The White Moon is associated with Life, Health, and Happyness.
Night is usually not as dark as it once was, one of the six moons is usually shining at night, while the sixth decides where day is. If all five moons are on the daylight side, things begin to wither and die on the opposite side of the planet as the moon of Death is unopposed in it's orbit. All manner of potents and augeries are based on the position and power of the moons (each waxes and wanes in brightness as it's power peaks and dips).
When all 6 moons align, it is a sign of great promise or great devastation, and usually augers both.

Snanagfashtali the Feline
Snanagfashtali the Feline is the goddess of cats, the hunt, and the wilds. She was not on either side during the final battle, being Chaotic Neutral, but the clash was so powerful that it rent the heavens and she too died when the universe died.
But Snanagfashtali was a wiley old feline too. She saw what was coming, and she set forth her own method of rebirth, knowing that the final end was never the final end, for the cycle of life will on. She sealed away the core of herself, her innermost heart, and sealed it in an egg of such strength that only the end of the universe could crack it's shell, and then she buried it deep in the planet and threw herself upon the armies of good and evil, forcing them to kill her, but not until she had had her revenge against the foolish powers of Good and Evil that had brought them to the end of creation.
Thus is she reborn in the new world, an new god with the memories of an old one, determined not to let the powers of Good or Evil gain such power to destroy all of creation as before. Her new self is not a self the old one would have liked, but then, her old self could not stop the destruction of the universe. This one can. This one is the Judge of Gods. Lawful Neutral. And her kind, Felines, will be the judges of all.
Snanagfashtali, The Feline, The Judge of Gods, Goddess of the Hunt

Weapon : Claws & Teeth, alternately, Kukri
Appearance : Either as a Large (size category) feline, a perfect version of whatever species it is with solid black eyes and gleaming glowing white fangs and teeth, or, alternately a Large humanoid feline with solid black eyes, glowing white fangs, well made hide armor and a glowing white kukri.

Here are my thoughts as to the questions at hand. Number of moons I’m going to go with #10 with an added twist. Each moon is actually the distant floating body of one of the previous gods who died fighting during the last war. Over time their bodies have hardened and slowly lost their shape as the world was recreated and the immortality of the surviving servants faded away with the rebirth of each race. Each deity, though dead, still influences the aspects they were related to despite new gods taking their place.
The Unknown God – It is rumored in legend that one god survived the great battle. No one is certain which side this god served or even who the god is. All that is said is that the god was so sickened by what happened and the depths of depravity both sides took in their pursuit of victory that the god remade the world and chose those who now serve as the new gods, swearing them to take better care of it, doing all of this before performing one last act. The last thing this unknown god did, after completing the tasks of righting all the wrongs done by both good and evil, was to tear the memory of who it was from the founding of the reborn world in order to ensure it would have peace at least for a time. The legend also holds that the Unknown God in wiping its name forgot who it was and now spends its days trying to remember as it wanders the world for eternity. There are some who believe that when the time comes the Unknown God will finally remembers who he or she is and then the end of the world will once more come to a close. Whether this legend is real or false no one is certain as the only support it has rests amidst the enduring statues paying homage to the gods. At the place of their ascension, the gods are depicted standing around a lone disfigured form; the only discernable mark upon it is a simple inscription reading, “I will remember.”

I too would suggest Option #10.
But, here is my thought.
These moons are not really moons at all - they are chunks of the previous - destroyed - world. Perhaps, they may have lost fragments of lore, forgotten treasures, and slumbering beings that were simply too tough to die when the previous world was destroyed.
---
The Undead God ...
All the old gods were killed in the great apocolypse. But, some say that true evil never dies ...
One of the old dark gods possessed such evil that even though he was killed, his dark essense still exists. Still very weak, he cannot yet assume physical form, but even now he schemes to return.

The tone is just that, "serious". The world has ended, and been reborn, so there is both sadness for all of the death, and happiness that the Creators have recreated the world. However, even the best horror movies (like the original "Dracula" and "Frankenstein") have some comedic moments to break the tention).
That is what I am looking for.

I vote two moons, one similar to our sattelite, the other shalf the size and twice as far away, I've done research and that gives the planet occaional double tides, but your extra moon has an eight the influence of our moon, and I think i quarter that of the sun.
GOD
Marduk was a druid on the side of Light, he took many forms to fight the many forms of darkness, but with each battle in the war he saw his beloved world destroyed, eventually totally so.
When he came back to the world he at first communed with nature, but found her silent, young and harsh. Already made unstable by witnessing the destruction of the war, he became withdrawn and bitter. He saw mortals once again set out to form thier world, and foresaw the coming of good and evil, the rekindling of the great war. As long as their were mortals who embraced civilisation and thought of ethics rather than only of survival, the world would end once more. So took many forms and gathered the most dangerous beasts of the world and turned them against mortal kind.
He is the patron of lycanthropes and dark wilderness, the lord of destruction and survival in a cruel world.
He is a shapeshifter god who takes the forms of a wolf, a rat and a great dragon.

mdt proposed essentially the same moon scheme I would. :) However, the black moon of Death need not be so blatantly associated with evil. Negative energy applied with care can remove disease, rot and vermin. Also, the darkness it radiates is essential to daily cycles; it could have some association with dreaming, though there would be no metaphysical support for such notions. (Conversely, the white moon of Life is indiscriminate and its energy will heal butchers and tyrants as readily as the good and just.)
A god, you say...?
Mandon Cooper, "the Broker," Lawful Neutral
God of fair trade, diplomatic negotiation and voluntary contracts.
In certain aspects, patron to dedicated craftsmen; to those who aspire to self-advancement without betraying others; and to those who seek understanding of people unlike themselves. Occasionally associated with magic used for utility rather than combat, especially Divination magic; cults who ascribe this aspect hold that magic should be used only when non-magical means will not serve.
Suggested domains: Charm, Knowledge, Law, Magic, Travel.
Favored weapon: falchion.
Mandon initially found fortune as an adventurer and was rumored to be a formidable self-trained wizard (though his standard outfit for potentially tense negotiations was full plate and a falchion, all adamantine). It was clear to him early on that his best talents lay in divining the needs and desires of others. Armed with such insight, he found that the path to personal advancement lay in finding ways to fulfill those needs and desires not for a single client, but for many at once. Before the end he was known as a political miracle-worker, able to draw up contracts between warring nations which turned squabbles over land and resources into mutually profitable trade agreements.
Though he had not previously discriminated among clients so long as they were willing to fulfill a signed obligation, it was the forces of Light who gained Mandon's support in the End. He knew that his own rise from commoner to kingmaker was only possible in the absence of press gangs and slave drivers, and the thought of the next generation's lowborn children being denied the opportunity to follow a similar path of principled ambition was too much to allow.
Oddly, though he was a major figure both on and off the fields of battle for much of the End War, he vanished shortly before the actual End. One cult holds that Mandon eventually foresaw the inevitable outcome of that conflict, that it was he who convinced the Creators to intervene rather than allow the mortal races to endure the mess they made; and if he had not taken that action there would be no new world, only ashes and desolation. In any case, after his rebirth as a New God he immediately set to work convincing people to embrace trade over warfare.

I vote for X plus one. One being a hidden "dark" moon which is not normally visible to the unaided eye. A moon of hidden and unknown portent which only makes it's presence known when it eclipses one of the others and thus having an effect on it's properties, negating or reversing it. This might be a moon of Fate as opposed to Destiny.

3 moons. I like the idea of perhaps the moons symbolizing three different elements of the underworld. A light shining moon symbolizing the new realm of the afterlife for good. A grayish standard moon symbolizing the afterlife of the neutral and a black volcanic moon symbolizing the afterlife of evil.
As for a God:
Arvenal, The Unmaker
Symbol: A Rusted Hammer (symbol for both construction of the past and destruction of the future)
Weapon: A Hammer
Domains: Destruction, Chaos, Fire, Weather
Portfolio: Rust, Time, Weathering, Chaos, Entropy
Arvenal was an elven craftsman in the world before. He was often regarded as the greatest craftsman the world had seen, using fine woods, precious metals and gems he crafted all manner of wondrous and beautiful items. during his long life he had seen very few of his creations wear, tarnish, or rust due to the care people paid them. He considered his greatest creations his children and grandchildren and spent many long years creating wonderful toys and everyday items for them.
When the final war came, Arvenal joined the side of the light, putting his great knowledge into the creation of weapons, armor, and items of tremendous power to aid in the war effort as best could. Over the course of the war, he saw much of his creation come to ruin, weapons smashed, armor rent, houses burned. Creations of wonder became ash and rust. Most crushing, he saw many of his children and grandchildren carried from the battlefield bloody and broken. In his final stand, he stood halfheartedly, wondering if the world he fought for was worth the blood, fire, and decay he'd seen it put through, and fell with doubt on his lips.
Raised in the new world and distraught to see its new beauty already fading, Arvenal resigns himself to thoughts of decay and destruction. All that made him happy in his former life was gone, all that this new world is will one day be dust, and those thoughts manifest themselves in entropy, withering, fading, rusting, and crumbling.

I agree with Lord Fyre 10 moons and they are fragments from the destroyed planet or the dead bodies of dead gods etc. Makes for excellent dynamics when the PCs are high enough level to travel to the moons.... and a nice twist
god of entropy, chaos, anarchy and the new disorder
Kryjank .. Fought for the side of darkness. Originally a blackguard serving his evil masters by leading an army of fell creatures in the service of a dark king. Kryjank hoped through victory to elevate his status amongst the elder evils of darkness. His victories were legendary and success close at hand .. when his soldiers began breaking rank. The onslaught of demons that fought beside his troops began attacking both friend and foe. More and more of them poured forth through the dimensional rift with such voracious an appetite and undeniable thirst for blood they slaughtered both allies and enemies alike tipping the final scale towards neither good nor evil...but ultimately towards chaos and world anhialation. Kryjank watched in despair as his years of planning and servitude went to naught in the end. At the end he did not even fight to save his own life...
His legend is what caused a pocket of evil survivors to resurrect him. Believing that he would be able to lead them and build a new army. But the man they resurrected no longer resembled their fallen hero in spirit or aspiration. The pointlessness of order and duty was clear now to Kryjank. This new world was just as it should be. In the end ... only chaos wins. He and his followers would not build great cities. They would thrive by ruining them and any that aspire to create them. His followers would be like the demons from the abyss and ultimate power would be his by allowing none to grow stronger or more organized.

Personally, I'd go with no more than three or four conventional moons, mostly due to the difficulty of remembering how many damn moons there are (Eberron comes to mind as a particularly egregious offender, here, if I remember correctly, though at least they're tied to the dragonmarks). I'm also inclined to keep it low for 'realism' purposes, though that's really tied to how fantastic the setting turns out to be.
My 'official' vote is going to be purely to make it a ring world - the debris of the destroyed planet circling about, some of it in tiny chunks and some of it large enough to adventure on, as put forth by others. I suppose that could count as both 'none' in the conventional moon sense and '9+' in the 'wow that's a lot of satellites' sense.

Zebulon, if the 9+ moon option wins, and I write it as possibly the debris of the destroyed planet circling the new world, then how would you handle having months, full moons for lycantropes, and all of the stuff that a normal moon would handle?
tejón RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16 |
Months could simply not be a concept; seasons would be used instead. This doesn't cover lycanthropes, of course.
Perhaps the debris is gathered toward one side of the ring? On one side would be a near-solid mass, on the other would be a complete gap, with a roughly even gradation between the two. Your months could then be based on the point of that ring's orbit around the new world.
High Week: The empty side of the ring faces the sun. Days are bright.
Falling Week: The ring is sideways to the sun, light is normal but each day is darker.
Low Week: The solid side of the ring faces the sun. Days are mere twilight.
Rising Week: The ring turns back toward emptiness, light is normal and the days brighten.
Lycanthropes would be active during the three middle Low Week nights, when the side of the world facing away from the sun has an unobstructed view of the rest of the cosmos.
eric warren |
For Lycanthropes you already have a suggested god above... have that god associate with one of the moons ... and let that moon determine the lycanthropes cycle. Perhaps it is the only truly "natual" moon. In existence before the cataclysm. The others being "false" moons would be shunned by the followers of said god...

I'm going to continue the support for seekerofshadowlight's suggestion. This is probably the coolest "moon" idea I've ever heard. Endless opportunities for adventures and cultural influence.

The Voting so far (from kindredspirit)
Number of Moons:
#1: None: 4
#2: one:
#3: two: 2
#4: three: 2
#5: four: 1
#6: five:
#7: six: 2
#8: seven: 1
#9: eight:
#10: nine +: 7
It looks like #10 is the most popular, with #1 coming in second. Of course, in Round 1 I chose the top 3 hooks and mixed them. With the "ring" concept, there could easily be 9+ moons and a ring of debris circling the New World, so #10 and #1 could be mixed...

I would also vote for #10. The idea of having the moons actually being parts of the destroyed world is a really cool idea.
As for a god: Boris of the Vile Wastes
Boris was the leader of a barbarian tribe, who faught on the side of the dark. His tribe was among the fiercest warriors who faught in the war, but Boris was greedy and took most of the loot for himself. Just pior to the final battle, his tribesman betrayed him and tried to kill him. However, they did not fully succeed, and he was left in a state between life and death. Boris now wanders the world aimlessly, driven mad with rage and dibelief at his kinsmen's betrayal. He continues to be a fierce warrior, and those who revere him are either insane themselves, or greatly respect his brute strength and raw power.

An ideal here. The ring and it's "moons" are called the world crown. The moons which might be large or small are really just parts of the old world given form and may in fact be hallow. Each could a gods realm with it's look and feel based off the new god. Inside would be his realm while the outside is but a shell, a reflection of his or her's power. Each moon would be spaced at even distances from each other. And if a god where to fall his moons would crumble into the ring to join the rest as the moons move to again be spaced correctly
The ring in which all the moons float would be bits and parts of the lost world with anything you can think of from once mighty mountains to parts of keeps floating with in it. As time goes on more and more of what was is reduced to ruble as the world moves on, undead, sprites and even new lifeforms call the ring home but in time they to will fade as in time all that was will be nothing but colorful stones brightening the night's sky

As I was looking through the comments, and if #10 (9 or more moons) comes in first, and #1 (no moons, but a ring of debris) comes in 2nd, then I have a good idea of how to mix the two hooks.
The moons are the bodies of the dead, Old Gods. 9 would be a good number, due to the nine alignments.
The ring of debris, called the King's Crown, is what is left of the Old World after it was destroyed during the Final Battle, or whatever it is eventually called. There could be endless adventures on the moons and debris. Just a thought, but it looks like the voting is going that way...
OH, and keep the New Gods coming!

I'm going to have to chime in and say that #10 with the ring debris mentioned in the thread sounds the most interesting and unique.

I´m in support of the 9 moons and a field of debriss. For the sole reazon that mortals will now look up in the sky and see an impenetrable barrier of close by astral bodies. It gives a feeling of entrapment, like being in a planetary wide cage. I know that if i was a PC on that world and the skies were described to me as such I would definetly feel hopeless and trapped (which is good for an apocalyptic world)
Now for a Goddes.
Alsiniani of the Lost Songs
Minor Deity
Symbol : A famished dark humanoid figure on it´s knees crying out into the skies surrounded by a black and white circular background.
Portfolio : Music, Destiny, Grief, Song, Lost Ones, Vengeance.
Worshipers : Bards, Necromancers, Barbarians, Politicians.
Cleric Alignments : CN, LE, LE, NE, N
Domains : Music, Death, Fate, Destiny, Retribution.
Weapon : Whip
In the old world she was known as the bringer of joy and repose to those in time of need. Her tunes were the obsesion of many and the only hope of many more in a world nearing it´s end.
But even thou Alsiniani knew the incoming war would bring great grief to all, her heart was at ease. For her destiny had been long ago written by the makers of reality and revealed to her by the primal song. It was written then that after the war between light and darkness ensued she will be reborn anew by the first sound that was to come out of a mortal´s mouth after the battle was over, and from that moment forth her nature would be changed to match said sound. Being one of the gods of light, she had no doubt in her heart that in the end the light would come out triumphant, and that the first sound was to be one of joy and praise to the glory of all her pantheon.
It was so that the battle came to pass and death and destruction ravaged the 4 corners of creation. And as the dust settled and the one mortal survivor withnessed the doom of his world, she cryied out in unfathomable pain grief and anger. From that moment forth Alsiniani was reborn, forever changed, and wonders the now newly formed world bringuing woe and death to those who attempt to thrive in hope of the new beggining. And as the wind carries her darkness, mortals hear her power present in every cry and every lament.

I vote for either 9+ moons or no moons but a ring comprised of the shattered remains of the previous planet, I'm honestly rather torn between those two. So if you're willing to mix the two then my vote goes to 9+ with a ring like saturn.
As for gods I have no gods to suggest but rather a concept. Don't apply alignments to dieties, make it so that people don't know the alignment of dieties, and remove the one step rule from clerics. That way no matter what god/pantheon you have, you can have lawful good clerics who interpret the scriptures one way, and chaotic evil sects that see it another way. Make players able to choose their gods based on how they see the portfolio working. It makes religions much more interesting and gives players the chance to take sides and have psuedo-political battles within differing factions of the same church. Granted this requires gods take a more passive role in events and are more concerned with having more followers than having followers follow set patterns.

I vote 4 moons, but everyone currently believes there's just 1. Astronomy hasn't caught up yet, and anyone who sees the rare event of 2 or more moons is called a lunatic.
Here's my recommendation for a new god:
Diety of Blood and Healing
Mortal: Human Medic
Salminion - The Bloody, The Peace Maker, The Savior, The Annoyance of Legions
Moderate Deity
Symbol : Two bandaged hands, covered in blood
Portfolio : Healing, peace, surgeries, blood, clerics.
Worshipers : Surgeons, Clerics, War Medics, The Elderly, Monsters who have left their tribes.
Cleric Alignments : LN, NG, NE, N, CN
Domains : Community, Healing, Fire, Protection, Travel
Weapon : Staff, though his cleric's should only use it upon those that cannot be healed
The Story:
When the great war happened, Salminion fought for neither side. He was favoured by the Light, aligning himself with dieties of healing and vowing to help those who survived the coming apocalypse. What the Light did not know was his vow did not care what side the survivors fought for. He was eventually killed when it was found out he was helping the dark's side with his abilities to heal.
Born as a new god, Salminion began by healing anything he came across, be it demon, aberation, human, elf or goblin. His follower come from all walks of life, and are instructed to give aid to those who need it and then moving on once they have found no others to give healing to. His followers are almost obsessed with blood, believing that each creature's personal panacea can be found given enough study of their blood.
Appearance: Salminion appears to all as a white cloak, with pale light coming from the arms of the cloak to help heal. These pieces of light never seem quite there, moving quickly and healing all that they touch.

If the voting continues like this, then the nine or more moons will come in 1st, and the no moons/ring will come in 2nd. I am really liking the idea of 9 moons, and a ring of debris called the "World Crown" or something like that.
We also have 15 New God submissions, which is awesome. If you haven't voted go for it, and please keep sending in your new (or old) gods. I will keep the voting open until everyone has had a chance to vote...

A couple of New Gods:
Leafar the Lost fought on the side of the Light. When he was reborn as a New God, he wandered the New World completely lost. Soon, he began to find mortals who were also lost, and he helped them find new homes. In time many mortals began to worship him and build him temples. He became known as a god who aided travelers, the homeless, and anyone who was lost.
When Leafarians are initiated into the faith as clerics, they are given a map for their holy symbol. It is a map of the world, but it can never be opened. It symbolizes the cleric’s devotion to Leafar, and they are literally getting themselves lost in their faith.
Symbol : A map
Portfolio : Travelers, Lost Souls, Homeless
Worshipers : any non-evil
Cleric Alignments : NG, CG
Domains : good, protection, travel, knowledge
Weapon : Walking stick (staff)
Palas the Purifier: during the Final Battle he fought bravely for the forces of Light. After the end of the old world, he found himself reborn as a New God. Soon, mortals began to come to him and ask to serve him. Only those with pure souls could follow him, and learn his teachings. In time he called his most faithful followers Paladins, and he commanded them to wander the New World fighting Darkness wherever it was taking hold.
Symbol : flaming, red sword
Portfolio : Purification, battle darkness, destroy undead
Worshipers : Paladins
Cleric Alignments : LG
Domains : Law, good, war, healing
Weapon : long sword

Voting for Round 2 is over!
#10 came in first, 9 + moons, with 11 votes.
#1 came in second with 7 votes, no moons, but a ring of debris circling the New World. The hook is that the 9 moons are the bodies of the 9 most powerful Old Gods, who died in the final battle. The ring of debris, called the "King's Crown", is made of of what is left of the Old World.
Thank you for the votes and the submissions of New Gods. It gave me some great ideas. Round 3 is coming soon, and this New World is starting to take shape...
