Old Redeye |

I'll post the combat later today (Monday). Old Redeye probably won't be active in this round anyway.
Nope. Unless you think I should hit a goblin with my imposing -2 quarterstaff...or I could try to scare them with my scary dancing lights...

I vote dancing lights + whacky dwarven curses.

Jimmy Evans |

Sorry; I forgot I hadn't posted my action for the round...
The halfling moves quickly up to the next goblin, taking advantage of the fact that it is still distracted, and thrusts his short sword at it.
To Hit: 1d20+1=13
Damage: 1d4=4, 1d6=6

abstract xp |

Round One
1. Jimmy moves swiftly forward and takes a swing at a goblin and connects violently. The goblin appears to be dead.
2. Ashbek aims for the mounted goblin but misses
3. Old Redeye looks on wistfully
4. Cuu moves forward and swings and kills another goblin.
5. The mounted goblin retreats and fires and arrow at the same time. It hits Cuu in the shoulder.
Cuu take two points of damage
6. Aylmora moves to comfort the man cowering behind the rain barrel.
7. Sapere casts a spell.
Cuu regains two points of damage
Back to yuo guys...

Cuu |

Sapere, appreciate the healing. Ashbek, If you delay till after me, there is a good chance that I can take care of the goblin at g7 for you, thus clearing a path for you to take another swing at the mounted goblin. If you decide to go for the g7 goblin, then I will take a whack at the boss.

Ashbek |

If you decide to go for the g7 goblin, then I will take a whack at the boss.
No way this boss is mine, or my dinner is gone ;)
Ashbek growls as his swing misses and the mounted goblin starts to retreat, and puts a goblin between them. He stops for a moment overlooking the situation and hopes that cuu will clear a path for him.Ashbek delays and charge at the mounted goblin, ending in g5. If cuu or another misses the goblin at g7 ashbek will charge that one instead.
1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 = 20
1d10 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Cuu |

Cuu will 5-foot to h8 and attack the goblin at g7.
Cuu pauses after butchering his last victim and takes the scene in. He is pleased to see that the ragtag heroes are winning the fight; the majority of the goblins are either slain or retreating. The half-orc is about to make a jab at Ashbek about what he wants for dinner when he hears the barbarian emitting an animalistic growl. "I am glad I am on his side." He thought.
The fighter takes a quick step toward the last goblin minion, distracting his opponent with his right blade and at the very last second puts his left blade through the monster's throat.
primary atk = 1d20 + 3 + 1(BARD) = 10, offhand atk = 1d20 + 3 + 1(BARD) = 24 (crit again!)
offhand confirm = 1d20 + 3 + 1(BARD) = 16 (confirm?)
offhand crit dmg = 2d8 + 4 + 1(BARD) = 17 (if crit)
offhand reg dmg = 1d8 + 2 + 1(BARD) = 11 (if not crit)

Aylmora Mvashti |

Option 1: If Ashbek's attack fails to kill the mounted goblin
Still singing the song of inspiration, Aylmora motions for the gentleman to stay behind the barrel, smiling reassuringly. She moves around the barrel toward the combatants (to square F10) and, glaring at the mounted goblin, weaves a discordant tone into her song in an attempt to daze the wretched creature.
Free action to continue Bardic Performance (Inspire Courage) (sixth round today). Move action to move around barrel to square F10, this should put her within 30 feet of the mounted goblin in square L5. Standard action to cast Daze (Will DC 14; target humanoid creature of 4 HD or less loses next action) on the mounted goblin in square L5.
Option 2: If Ashbek's attack kills the mounted goblin
Aylmora stops singing as she surveys the scene of carnage. Seeing that the others have things well in hand, she bends down toward the cowering gentleman and helps him to his feet. "Are you alright, goodsir?" she asks concernedly. If he is bleeding, she will attempt to staunch the wound using one of her scarves.

abstract xp |

Round Two
1. Jimmy moves amongst the dead goblins and appears to be checking their bodies for any valuables. He manages to cover the three previously killed goblins as the battle continues. It is clear from the speed with which he moves from body to body that he finds nothing of any value.
2. Ashbek charges towards the mounted goblin and with an awesome blow, he manages to separate its head from its shoulders. The goblin dog must catch the scent of blood as it immediately starts to run away, with the body of the goblin still in the stirrups.
3. Old Redeye looks on, enjoying the fight.
4. Cuu moves forward and takes out the remaining goblin with a tremendous blow.
5. Aylmora starts to talk to the man cowering behind the rain barrel.
All the goblins appear to have been killed
You hear the sound of an unfit man jogging into the square and are aware that Father Zantus is approaching from the south.

The man appears shaken but is apparently unhurt. He stares into Aylmora's eyes and seems lost for words.
After a couple of seconds, he stammers, "I-I-I don't know what to say. You were so brave and for one so beautiful..."
He blushes as these words escape his lips.

I'm sorry I hadn't gotten a post up for this round, I've been really sick this week and not very clear headed. I had said as much in the other PbPs I do, but somehow I was under the impression that I had already posted what I was going to do this round of combat and we were waiting for someone else. I apologize for having been the one to hold things up.
Sapere glances around at the rest of the party for any wounded, nodding to the halfling as he gathers up any further goods. He then moves to the man who was hiding. "Stop flirting man, and speak. Are you wounded?"

Ashbek |

Still in rage from his latest kill Ashbek is unable to stop the fighting. He drop his glaive and quickly draws a javelin and throws it after the fleeing dog.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11, 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
As the javelin misses he suddenly visibly relax, standing still and breathing hard.
End of rage. He's fatigued for 6 rounds

Cuu |

Cuu wipes the blood off his weapons on the corpses before sheathing them. He also starts to look through the bodies for any loot of value. :"Too bad that dog ran away with that goblin's corpse." The fighter thought, "The leader always have something of value. At least I got myself a free dinner!"
The half-orc walks over to the now relaxed barbarian, "So Ashbek, looks like I won that one, where we going for dinner?"

abstract xp |

The rescued man dusts his fine clothes down and looks down at the dead dog.
He stands a little over six feet tall and dresses well. He is handsome in a pretty way, with floppy shoulder length brown hair.
"Man's best friend but a goblin's worst enemy - except for horses of course. He probably saved my life."
He turns once more to Aylmora, apparently ignoring Sapere. "Onc again, I am truly in your debt." He glances around at the wider group and then back to Aylmora. "Haven't I seen you at the Rusty Dragon? You appeared to be by yourself but now I see you have company. Of little matter."
He then turns to address the wide group. "I owe you all a fine meal at the very least. Tonight, dinner is on me."
At this point, the sound of a puffing Father Zantus grows ever louder as he now walks a little past Old Redeye and Sapere and calls to the group in general. "My dear fellows....What a debt of gratitude...this town owes you...Does anyone need...any healing?"
He bends slightly at the waist and puts his hands on his hips as he puffs loudly.

![]() |

Sapere snorts a bit at the man but nods his head, still trying to be polite. Looks like the man comes from money after all, could be a good way to finance some of his expeditions. "As you should, my good man."
He then looks to those who looked over the bodies. "Have you found anything more then a smell? If not, I suggest we help do a quick walkthrough of the town to make sure all is clear, then we take our friend up on that dinner while the guards build some pyres."
He can't help but show some of his caustic humor as he gives a slight smirk at Father Vanthus. "While I certainly appreciate the gratitude, preacher, I think we would prefer to avoid any sort of reward ceremony as we have seen what comes with your celebrations."

Aylmora Mvashti |

The man appears shaken but is apparently unhurt. He stares into Aylmora's eyes and seems lost for words.
After a couple of seconds, he stammers, "I-I-I don't know what to say. You were so brave and for one so beautiful..."
He blushes as these words escape his lips.
Struck momentarily speechless, Aylmora blushes at the man's words.
"Stop flirting man, and speak. Are you wounded?"
Aylmora glares sternly at the priest's tone. "Give the man a moment to gather his wits! Can't you see that he was traumatized by those foul beasts?"
He turns once more to Aylmora, apparently ignoring Sapere. "Once again, I am truly in your debt." He glances around at the wider group and then back to Aylmora. "Haven't I seen you at the Rusty Dragon? You appeared to be by yourself but now I see you have company. Of little matter."
He then turns to address the wide group. "I owe you all a fine meal at the very least. Tonight, dinner is on me."
Aylmora smiles warmly at the gentleman as he offers to host the group for dinner. "Yes, you have seen me at the Rusty Dragon. My name is Aylmora Mvashti. And who do we have to thank for our dinner this evening?"
Aylmora rushes to Father Zantus' side. "Are you alright Father?" she asks with concern. "Take a breath. Don't over tax yourself. You've been through quite an ordeal yourself today."
As she tries to ensure that Father Zantus is not about to have a heart attack from over-exertion, Aylmora is struck with a realization. "Aunt Niska! What if the goblins got into the house!"
"Excuse me!" she exclaims to the gathered men. "I must check on my great-aunt and make sure that the goblins have not done her any harm!" With those words, Aylmora turns to run south to Madame Mvashti's house.

Old Redeye |

Father Zantus looks towards the departing Aylmora and then addresses the group. "Is it wise to let the young lady go off on her own like that?"
The dwarf sighs. "I s'pose not. Bloody humans." He follows, keeping his distance.

![]() |

Sapere gives the noble looking man a slight smirk. "Looks like your lady is getting away."
He sighs and shakes his head. "I do suppose that the father is right. You get inside somewhere safe as you don't seem very up to aiding us. I suppose we had best ensure that you can continue your flirting later."
He'll head off after Aylmore as well, glancing towards the others. "Coming?"

Aylmora Mvashti |

I haven't forgotten you, I just wanted to see where you wanted to go and get some role-playing done without lots of dice-rolls. If you need me to pick up the pace, just let me know.
Well, right now Aylmora's main concern is to check on the safety of her great-great-aunt. After that (assuming everything is okay) she will be ready to join with the party in accepting the accolades of the townsfolk.

Cuu |

Hope no one takes this the wrong way, but perhaps the game can move at a faster pace? I understand that the DM is trying to give the players more role playing opportunities, but this break from the main storyline seems to be slowing down the game quite a bit (Aylmora posted she's going to her great aunt's last FRI, and a week later we're just getting ready to leave). Perhaps next time when something like this comes up the DM can just assume the whole group goes? Or maybe set up some kind of deadline so that you would forfeit your turn/action if you don't post within a reasonable time period?

abstract xp |

Of course, it is pre-supposing if 'Aylmora' is deviating from the main storyline.
Since the post in question, only two people responded within 72 hours. There were two NPCs to talk to and Aylmora off to her aunt's.
To take 'Cuu's' direction, in future, if one PC suggests a path of action, I will expect you all to follow unless I hear to the contrary within 24 hours.

abstract xp |

The group wends it way from the north of the town southwards.
You travel back through the square in front of the Cathedral, passed Savah's Armory, then down High Street before turning right down Festival Street.
You pass the Sandpoint Theatre on the left and the Carpenter's Guild on the right before reaching what Aylmora describes as her great-great-aunt's house.
From outside this appears to be an ancient, decrepit manor house. Upon knocking, the door is answered by an old woman with skin like leather, wild (and mostly white) straggly hair - littered with the occasional bird's feather and strand of wool and two unfeasibly long and dangly earrings.
She spies Aylmora and says in a raspy but remarkably strong voice, "Yes? What do you want? I already said you can't stay here."
She then takes in the assembled group. "And what do this lot want?"

![]() |

I'm fine with that, DM. If we aren't actively chatting with each other at a point, or there aren't disagreements, once a few of us set a course of action that is likely to include the entire group I don't mind you assuming the rest of us are going along. Its rare that we are going to split up too much, at least when we are in a potential combat situation, and when we do that will probably be part of the plan.
Seeing the older woman snap at them, Sapere shows his normal tact, looking to Alymora. "Looks like the old bat is safe. We should make sure the rest of the town is too, I suppose. Peasants can be like goblins and fall on their blades too, it seems."
He'll give a small nod of his head towards the older woman. "Ma'am." Then he will stand just outside the house and keep an eye out for any issue, until the others join them, knowing Alymora will want a moment with her relative.

Aylmora Mvashti |

Upon knocking, the door is answered by an old woman with skin like leather, wild (and mostly white) straggly hair - littered with the occasional bird's feather and strand of wool and two unfeasibly long and dangly earrings.
She spies Aylmora and says in a raspy but remarkably strong voice, "Yes? What do you want? I already said you can't stay here."
She then takes in the assembled group. "And what do this lot want?"
"Aunt Niska!" Aylmora exclaims as she clasps the elderly woman in a hug. "Thank Desna you're alright! So the goblins didn't attack the house?" she asks with relief.
Turning and indicating the others, Aylmora explains further. "Goblins attacked the town during the festival! These brave men killed several of them and helped to keep the beasts from killing Father Zantus and burning down the town. They are heroes!" the young girl says as she smiles at the party.
Sapere shows his normal tact, looking to Alymora. "Looks like the old bat is safe."
Aylmora tactfully pretends not to have heard Parola's disrespectful reference to Aunt Niska, in order to keep this initial meeting civil (and besides, great-great-Aunt Niska IS an old bat even if she is a powerful seer), but makes a mental note to give the priest a scathing lecture on manners and respect to elders should she have further interactions with him in the future.
"Why do we care for this woman's well-being again?" Asked Cuu, looking at Aylmora.
Stepping to the side and indicating the elderly woman with a flourish of her arm, Aylmora announces with the flair of a Varisian entertainer, "Gentlemen, you have the honor of meeting Madame Niska Mvashti! Keeper of ancient mysteries and Seer extraordinaire!" This last she adds with a meaningful glance to Old Redeye.

abstract xp |

Madame Mvashti snorts at the assembled group.
"Age can dull the senses and affect the manners. But I'm not as deaf as you might think and at least I have an excuse for being cantakerous."
She turns her attention to Aylmora.
"It is conmmendable my dear that you came to check on my welfare - but I should not be your chief concern. The cards," at this point she pauses and gives Old Redeye a knowing stare, "have some troubling revelations. I suggest you lot spend less time annoying the senior citizens of this fine town and more time finding out what has occurred to disturb the spirits of those long laid to rest in the graveyard."
She half-closes the door and then re-opens it. "And if you have any questions later, please remember to bring your manners with you."
Again, she half-closes the door before re-opening it. "Are you still there?"
This time she closes the door fully and you hear the stomping of footsteps leading away from it.

Aylmora Mvashti |

"The graveyard?" Aylmora quietly asks to herself, momentarily bewildered.
Aylmora turns to the assembled men. "You heard her! Something has disturbed the dead in the graveyard! Come on!"
With those words, the young girl jumps down from the mansion's porch and takes off at a sprint toward the Cathedral to the north - the direction from which the party just came.

Ashbek |

Though he know that the situation is not for fun and jokes, Ashbek can't help but grin at Cuu's remark.
He quickens his pace, running past the half orc, while yelling ”If you speed up, you could have more than my dust to eat”
He suddenly stops, realizing that his strong legs has carried him far ahead of the party. Soon he is back running besides Cuu. ”Don't know the way” he smiles at the fighter.
