Cool. They brought that back? I liked the first several books of the first series. Is it still a shared universe?

Yeah, Martin is still the editor with like 5-7 authors each doing the perspective of a different character.

Inside Straight is placed in modern day basically they start up a thing called American Hero which is like American Idol+Big Brother+Survivor and it ends up revealing some new aces onto the world scene.

Not exactly a "fantasy novel", but you could look up Plato's Myth of the Androgyne in The Symposium.

Not only that, but they're bringing back the whole series next year, including a new 'special edition' of the original book with some additional stories filling out the 40 years between the arrival of the virus and the modern day setting.

Green Ronin also released a new RPG based on WILD CARDS last year, using the MUTANTS AND MASTERMINDS rules. Haven't checked it out yet.

I'd read somewhere that Mutants and Masterminds was originally based on the roleplaying game that George R. R. Martin and his friends played which inspired the books.

In Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel-series of books, the protagonists live in a fantasy-version of France where bisexuality is the sexual norm.

And in Guy Gavriel Kay's A Song for Arbonne (fantasy-version of southern France... a theme?) you have an openly gay king - which is a problem since he needs heirs.

I was going to mention Jacqueline Carey too.

A lot of the Urban Fantasy novels out there have gay or bi characters too. Any of the ones with a strong female protagonist (or Harry Dresden) with lots of vampires, werewolf, and faerie friends.

"Cyteen" by CJ Cherryh has a couple gay couples, but it's SF, not fantasy.
