Pathfinder Society at UK Conventions

Local Play

The Exchange 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Mediterranean

The UK Venture Captains of PaizoCon UK will be giving out missions at a number of UK conventions.

16th-18th October in Manchester at Game '09.
This will be the first UK convention where we'll be using the Pathfinder rules.

30th-31st October in Telford at Oddcon
27-31st January 2010 at Conception

And probably a few others between now and PaizoCon UK 2010. (Any suggestions/invitations?)

If anybody is interested in running Pathfinder at a convention then do get in touch (paizoconuk@hotmail.com) as we can offer some support (such as running slot zero sessions, experience of running the scenarios, etc).

I just added a thread for a MiniCon in East Kent, early February. I hope there will be enough interest for it to happen.

This will be the first UK convention where we'll be using the Pathfinder rules. We will also have some conversion sessions to get your character fully 'pathfindered' before the gaming begins.

I attended the Pathfinder role-play event Sat morning (Sat 17th Manchester). I'm not sure if this is the right place to say ty to those there who made me feel very welcome. I'd not previously played any form of role-playing, but thanks to a bunch of friendly folk & a very nice GM I had a great time.

I just wondered if anyone knows what scenario we played on Sat morning?

Thank you very much, Zumii. I'm Dave who was the alleged leader of the Pathfinder team. Really glad to hear you enjoyed it. If you can identify your GM I'll make sure he reads this too.

The scenario on Saturday morning will have been Pathfinder Society Scenario number 29 titled The Devil We Know part 1 - Shipyard Rats.

Hi Dave,

I had a good time too. (I was the leather-coated one, aka Fertibert the wizard, who came back for 4 scenarios...)

And I'm now looking for anyone running Pathfinder here in Manchester. No luck so far - I have contacted Fanboy3 by email to ask if they've got anywhere setting up a game, but no reply yet.

Hi Herm,

Excellent to hear from you.
I'm afraid I currently don't know of any Manchester Pathfinder groups. [I know some people in Sheffield but that's probably too far away.] But given the level of interest there was I hope that something can be set up. If I hear of any such groups then I'll post here.

Excellent, thanks. (Is there any way to subscribe to threads by email?)

Can't wait to play some more with him.

Not that I know of.

Oh do check out our PaizoCon UK website and the forum there.

Is there anything planned for Dragonmeet on the 28th?

The webpage there seemed not too up to date for a while and for a while I was under the impression it wouldn't even be in London.

But it seems it's going ahead.

I would like to show up there if there is a chance to meet someone from the Pathfinder Society.

Preferably I would play Theodum - but if there is need for a GM - I could be convinced. As this would be my first GM at a CON I would prefer not to be on my own.

Dragonmeet often seems to lack any detailed information until shortly before it happens. It is probably worth contacting the organisers directly.

I wasn't planning to go along as I may be busy that Saturday. Nobody else has asked about Pathfinder at Dragonmeet. But I'm sure somebody could be convinced to go along.

The Exchange 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Mediterranean

I've just been asked about Pathfinder Society games being run at the UK Games Expo 2010. I'll certainly be going. Anybody else interested?

I'm also starting to recruit Pathfinder GMs for Conception 2010.

If you're interested then contact me via the usual methods (website or email paizoconuk@hotmail.com.)

Sovereign Court

Conception is an awkward one for me. The exam period for me finishes on 29th January, and with no on site accommodation left, it's kinda tricky. Still, if I am able to go, you'll know I'll be there. I did so enjoy playing at Conception, after all.

Would be great to see you there. (Unfortunately I've ended up with off-site accommodation as there's been such a demand.)

(You didn't make it to Manchester for Game, did you?)

Sovereign Court

Sadly I didn't make it to Game in Manchester. Too early after starting University to make financial arrangements for it. Maybe next year though.

Thod,I'll certainly be there so that's two off us anyway..anyone else going?

Sorry, yes you did. Um, meant recently or some other lame excuse for not remembering.

I did send an e-mail yesterday to the event organizers volunteering to organzie a Pathfinder Society game table. I will update you once I hear back from them. I also want to ensure there isn't anyone else organizing something (which I guess is unlikely).

DM Wellard wrote:

DM Wellard - great it feels much more comfortable to know I'm not on my own. Just checking - do you want to play or to be a GM.

I've played myself scenario 29 and 30 (with Dave as GM - thanks). But I'm flexible to prepare another advandure. Just let me know any preference - I aim to accomodate this as far as possible. I want to make it open to walk-by / new Pathfinder Society members. As such - unless there is more than one table it will be a starting tier. But having an experienced player with at least 2/3 adventures around would be very good.

So lets see if we hear of more interest - as well as feedback from the organizers.

The Exchange 5/5 Regional Venture-Coordinator, Mediterranean

Even if I'm not going I can give you some support - let me know if you need anything like pre-gen characters and so on.

I'm still only tier one myself as my convention going is limited(wish we had some decent RP days in Scotland)...and I'd only have time for one slot so I'd rather play Andrina to get her up to 4th level than GM.

That said I would do everything to help out with new players /tyros...might as well put 35 years of gaming experience to use after all.

Having an experienced gamer on the table would be a great help. Could you contact me directly at 'paizo add loesel dot freeserve dot co dot uk'

That way I could contact you more directly - for example scenarios already played, etc.

Hi
I one of wintergreen's crew of dm's .
this is my crime & pennance.
I am considering day-tripping to dragonmeet to either join in or run a pathfinder game.
If i go to run I'd like to run mists of mwangi if you havent played it but i'm open to other senario suggestions.
So time permitting we could both play one run one .

And if I can't make it then my offer of support still stands. I'm sure there's something I can do to help.

Great to hear from you - would be great to have a second game. I just don't know if time would permit to have them one after the other. My impression was - the CON starts at 10:00 for the public - need to check when it closes but we would need probably 9 hours to allow two 4 hour slots.

I haven't heard back from the organizers - but I will retry with newfound enthusiasm.
.
As time is short - could you contact me.

2Wintergreen - you did help a lot by getting me out of my comfort zone of home gaming and actually contact the organizers. Don't underestimate how much help this was.

Maybe the map pack you used would be good if I decide to GM scenario 29. But I should have probs or can produce some.

Dragonmeet usually goes on into the evening..just how late I'm not sure. I'm fairly sure I won't have time for more than one four hour session.

and did I say i would be taking Andrina to 4th..duh I meant 3rd...

Thod the e-mail address you gave me doesn't register with yahoo mail.

you can get me on Wellard2006[at]yahoo[dot]co[dot]uk

Can't see anything wrong the way I wrote the e-mail address. Well - an e-mail is on it's way. This will be from my google mail. It is a pretty old PBeM moniker.

Thod

PS: It would help if they would tell opening times. Most stuff on the web is 2008. Don't even know I contacted the right person. Well - will try to phone them tomorrow and will report back here or via e-mail to all who contact me.

According to this site the times are 10am to 8pm...10 hours unfortunately I'll probably have to go at 6pm at the latest due to booking in times at my hotel( and the need to eat off course)

Thanks !! Provided I hear from Russ (Dave - do you have his details and could pass them on to me to contact directly) the current plan is as follows:

Dragonmeet opening 10:00
Game 1: 11:00-15:00
Game 2: 15:30-19:30

Close of Dragonmeet 20:00

I did phone the organizer yesterday and he will be back in his office on Monday. I will post here once the above is official.

My current plan is that I would GM one slot and hope Russ (or another GM) would do the other one. I haven't yet decided on the scenarios.
The idea is - We should have two different low level scenarios, the GM has first right to decide but I will aim to offer a scenario that interested players haven't played yet.

It is encouraged that you reserve your slot here or via e-mail to me.

All this gets organized on the fly right now - so either look back here ahead of the CON for news or drop me an e-mail and I will ensure everyone who has shown an interest will be notified with news.

Hmm, well this is going to be awkward. I have an exam on the 29th January itself, so I wouldn't be able to get to Conception until around 7pm that evening. Is it really worth it to go for just two days? I suppose it'd be a bit of a treat after the exams though.

You know you want to!

Actually as an update, I'm just finalising PaizoCon UK 2010 details so next week I'm going to start organising things for Conception. I will be making sure that we'll have some higher tier games amongst the many Pathfinder Society games that will be there.

The Exchange

I may be turning up at Conception on the weekend. It is currently under discussion among my mates but I doubt we will be there for more than a day.

Uzzy - its worth it just for the weekend, its a great con and a great venue.

Cheers

Sovereign Court

Oh, I've been before for the full four days, so I know how good a con it is. I'll have to start checking prices for accommodation in the area. Gonna be £80 for the train tickets there! >.<

The Exchange

£80, gulp!

Sovereign Court

Might be cheaper train tickets closer to the event, thankfully. Still, it's doable if I get a friend to share accommodation costs with me. I'll bloody well try to get down!

So if there's anybody going to Conception that would be interested in running Pathfinder Society scenarios then do get in touch via paizoconuk@hotmail.com and I can provide scenarios, support and a chance to play some of the scenarios before you run them.

I was hoping to get to play at Conception rather than DM but I’m happy to do a slot or two if needed, especially if you’re doing a slot zero beforehand.(Though when is the question)
