Zumii Lvl 1 Cleric:

Background:

Zumii originates from the city of Korvosa. Korvosa is the largest city in the region of Varisia & is known as being the primary hub for trade. Her parents lived in the Midland, one of the dock areas of Korvosa. Just before Zumii's birth her father was killed in a tragic accident & her mother was forced to sell her Reef Boutique store, to enable her and her new born the chance at survival. They relocated to Old Korvosa, the most over crowded & poorest area of the city. Whilst growing up Zumii was home schooled by her mother, teaching her the values & important lessons of life that would help in her survival. However often Zumii was lead by her curiosity & at the age of 10 she stumbled into The Gray (the city's graveyard to which the priests of Pharasma inhabited). Zumii observed & eventually became mentored by Zailre a priest of Pharasma.

Her mother had always taught Zumii the value of honesty, and that liars would be punished. In such hard times however Zumii was also taught that deception to ensure survival was also a skill that should be mastered but that the very fine line between the means of survival & uncalled for dishonesty should never be crossed ... and at no point should a life be taken! Zailre worked on the teachings & understandings Zumii already possessed helping her to understand that her skills in deception could be put to better use; a use of more diplomatic means.
At 16 Zumii's mother died & their ramshackle house was invaded by bandits. Zumii relocated into the Shingles (rooftop walkways with small homes & the odd store) it aided in Zumii being able to move about more freely as crowds could be avoided & gave her the opportunity to mature further & hone the skills she had be learning over the last few years.
At 18 Zumii decided that she had the option to remain in the shingles, forever facing the daily battle of survival or to take leave & head to a new city. A new city where she could put her skills to use, where she could try & find work & continue in her clerical studies. So Zumii took leave to the 3rd largest city ... Riddleport.

Riddleport, the city of pirates and sea-faring brigands! Riddleport's blind-eye approach to crime has led to a population largely skewed toward scoundrels, outcasts, and cutthroats who fill its harbor and dockside brothels. Despite the relative danger of the city, scholars and academics are also fairly common in the city, as the mysterious and massive Cyphergate presents a seemingly endless supply of research material for those interested in Thassilonian relics. Here Zumii secured work helping businesses, her faith was not an issues as long as it did not impact on trade. Zumii where possible boarded merchant ships to gain additional experience & visit new lands. Riddleport provided Zumii with a place study, work, and a place to earn respectability (as much as you can expect from pirates & scoundrels ). She remains faiithful to Pharasma but has never been able get rid of her chaotic streak. No matter where her journeys take her, Riddleport will always the place in her heart that she calls home.

After several years of boarding merchant ships & working hard to build up a rapport with the local dock workers & frequenting merchant ships, Zumii came to the realisation that should she wish to expand her knowledge further she would need to take up residence elsewhere. This residency could be reasonably long lived & would require Zumii’s abode in Riddleport to be tended to whilst she was not present. This however would be a fairly straightforward task due to her longstanding friendship & working relations with Vikranti. The opportunity did not arise for several years however.

Vikranti, a middle aged gnome who entered Riddleport seeking the delights of the docks, markets & new experiences, became associated with Zumii via her notable skill in alchemy & drug making. At first their meeting was simply in passing & over the first couple of years that Vikranti resided in Riddleport, Zumii often purchased anti-toxins & other alchemic goods for use during her travels. As their business relationship grew so did their friendship, and unlike the other few gnomes that came into the dark depths of Riddleport Vikranti had not become a druggist that was manipulated by the city’s criminal factions. Vikranti remained neutral to the handiwork of the criminal factions where possible; merely trading & supplying as a means of business.

However 3 years ago during a feud between two criminal factions, Vikranti’s abode & store was wrecked in a late night commotion. This commotion had lead to a number of injuries & deaths of ‘innocent’ bystanders, who had not had the means, power or knowhow to fend off such a ruckus. Vikranti’s own alchemy lab caused a localised fire & explosion which caused further damage & injury to those involved. It was this incident that had required Zumii to rush to the citizens aid. Vikranti herself was greatly injured & required several months of care, which Zumii took on herself to provide personally. Zumii took Vikranti into her home & it was this gesture of good will & caring that created the final bonds in their relationship. Vik had a greater deal of understanding to offer in regards to trading & business, where Zumii had the means & relationships with merchants to mean existing service routes & relationships could be utilized further. This shared knowledge could be profitable & beneficial for them both.

A year ago Zumii became acquainted with an old business associate of Vik’s, a Dwarven merchant that shipped mining goods to the collective of Dwarfs that worked the Riddleport Gas Forges. Larriden was a burley yet joyous fellow, who enjoyed a nice drink & to indulge his audience in the banter of his travels. He happened upon stories of Westcrown, where he told tales of intrigue, danger & of course business of all kinds of nature. However it was his mentioning of a great statue of Aroden in the northern harbour & the scattered shrines of his long dead worshipers that piqued Zumii’s interest. The truth of Pharasma’s involvement, or more to the point, lack of guidance to her worshipers surrounding the knowledge of Aroden’s coming death was still a mystery. A mystery Zumii liked to indulge in given the chance. It was at this point Zumii seized the opportunity to take a more permanent leave of Riddleport to pursue greater knowledge in her religion.

Larriden arranged for Zumii to board his next shipment of goods from Riddleport to Westpool, one of the two Rikkan ports. Here Zumii would be able to find local inns & taverns to find lodging, which would also provide her with transport into Westcrown’s city itself. Vik covered the usual business back & Riddleport & took care of Zumii’s abode in her absence.

Zumii now had the opportunity to explore a new land, meet new people & gain a better understanding on life. The possibility on gaining addition religious knowledge & understanding was surely a tantalising bonus & personal motivator.

Additional Westcrown Background Info:
Arriving in Westpool, it soon became apparent that the stories of Aroden's shrines that had lured Zumii there we not necessarily as clean cut as they had seemed. The shrines lay in the underground foundations of Westcrown, and anyone found treading those grounds would be considered trespassing, stealing or attempting some form of sabotage. Many of these ruins are scattered around the Rack Road, which leads to the Hellknight haven, a place one cannot & would not simply wander into.
Zumii had attempted to try and gather more information on the Foundations & see if there would be any plausible way to find safe entry into then. So far this has been futile. Hellknights or hired brutes guarded or patroled near every entry site that Zumii was currently aware of, & Zumii's presence had already been noted when she was trying to aid a sick halfling. The halfling had be generous to aid her travel for a small fee from Westpool to the foundations areas, but soon disapeared shortly after. Weeks later he was found with a strange illness. Zumii tried to tend to him but nothing seemed to aid his illness, & then one day he was gone. He had vanished into thin air. Hellknights were close by & ordered Zumii to leave the area or face the consiquences of staying.
