Alderthane:
If you wish to try to identify the creature, you'll have to roll Knowledge(Religion) DC 25 in addition to Knowledge, but that will be all of your actions for this round.

Spoiler:
There has been a lot of debate on this SLA change. I think it got nerfed too much btw. Since this is being playtested out, how about it still be a full round action, but the duration is increased back to one minute/level, since the original writeup of SLA is too powerful.

What do you think?

Knowledge(Religion) 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16... maybe not then.

This campaign is slightly more dangerous than an average one. Use original rules.

OK, sounds good to me. BTW, Jason is going to be releasing another update to the Summoner playtest rules again after the new year, I will keep you posted.

From the center of the moldy cluster a cloud of yellow dust suddenly bursts, enveloping the whole room and you in it. Roll Fortitude DC 16

"Doessn't get a hint doess it?"
Zissaren smashes flail first into the nearest tentacle, following through on the attack and biting down hard on the slimy appendage.
Zissaren's voice is muffled by his full mouth but the disgust on his face makes it clear to anyone glancing in his direction that biting the tentacle was a decision he regretted quite a bit.

Full attack
Flail 1d20+9=24, 1d10+12=17
Bite 1d20+7=22, 1d6+4=5

Fortitude save 1d20+8=26

After invoking her powers, Lureene points up to order the beetle to attack the center of the roiling mass of tentacles, and then retreats to the rear of the group. She turns to Meera saying "I hope you have an idea how to get -"

Not noticing the spores filling the air, she starts gagging on them uncontrollably.

Fortitude save Lureene 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

:
Immune to poison due to template

Fortitude save Fire Beetle 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Fort Save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Meera frowns at the girls words,

"I was a victim, same as you, luv." She responds, still trying to keep the pair of them away from any tentacles. At the explosion of noxious looking dust Meera tries to get a deep breath before being covered in yet more monster cr@p.

Fort Save:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

And falls into paroxysms of coughing along with Lureene Ourson.

Oh yeah, this is going well....:P

Lureene and Meera suddenly fall in deep slumber, while Zissaren and Turik savagely attack the tendrils. But the two warriors notice that their attacks are less effective than usual. It seems that slimy coating of intestine-like tentacles is to slippery for the slashing weapons to do their full damage. But, first blood of the moldy monster is shed, and whole chamber shakes with it's rage.

Female Spellwarped Ghost Elf Witchblade 1(Warlock/Hexblade gestalt)

Fort save 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Ifthis is a spell like effect it needs to beat her SR which is only 12 but hey it might not.

Arathalia's glowing aura seems to pulse as she unleashes another silvry bolt of eldritch energy.

Touch attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 1d6 ⇒ 1

Male Pixie

Fort save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 and SR16

Luff hovers in place and holds out his hands, sending out a pulsating flash of sickly green light towards the base of the intestines.

Eldritch blast 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24, 1d6 ⇒ 2

Al's Fort save 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Percival's Fort save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Rodrigo's Fort ssve 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
I'm not entirely sure of our positions, but I'm assuming there's a spot available to safely cast burning hands to catch the mouldy creature without hitting any allies.

Al moves in a wide circle towards the moldy congregation of tendrils, while Rodrigo follows him closely, snapping at any tendrils that venture too closely.

Reaching his destination, the old man waves his arm in a smooth arc and a blast of fire emanates outward.

Al moves to an appropriate spot, then casts Burning Hands, 4d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 2) = 11, reflex DC17 for half.
Rodrigo follows him and readies to attack any tendrils that come within range, Claw 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21, 1d2 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

Dark Archive

The monster is only slightly wounded by your weak attacks. Tentacles are reaching for you in an evil dance of slime and stench. The moldy cluster in the middle starts to pulse like a heart beating. Everybody taken their actions? Next round then. And it's not spell like effect. It's the spores. :)

Zissaren spits out the vile tasting tentacle and pulls out one of his recently cleaned spears. With an angry hissing roar he lanches the spear at the now pulsing mass in the centre of the room.

Attack 1d20+4=20, damage 1d6+8=9

Male Hafling Paladin 1

"Damn, I wish I had brought something to throw at that monster...might as well wake the girls up."

Herc moves toward the sleeping women, swapping at tentacles as he goes.

Atk: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Dmg: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Ok, then. Sorry.

Tentacles sway and lunge towards all of you at the same time, ignoring the prone females. Whole cavern is shuddering and you can feel anger in the air.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 2d8 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5

Nightflier, I am assuming the fire beetle was not affected by the spores? If that is the case then

One of the flailing tentacles strikes the beetle squarely in its thorax, knocking it to the ground, where its body dissolves in a puff of acrid smoke.

One of the tentacles slams into Al's chest, causing him to cough violently while another comes down viciously against Rodrigo's head, rendering the small animal unconscious.

Zissaren sidesteps the flailing tentacles and grimaces as more of his allies are knocked down.

Taking the reaction to the first spear to mean the central lump is important he grabs another spear from his pack and launches it after the first.

Attack 1d20+4=24 Damage 1d6+8=12
Confirm critical 1d20+4=12 Damage 1d6+8=11

Dark Archive

Green slime spurts from the mold. The creature seems terribly wounded. Perhaps one more strike like that, and the tentacles will never again suck on their victims.

Male Hafling Paladin 1

I think there are quite a few people before my character. If they don't post after a while, I am just going to say Herc wakes the girls up. Starting with Lureene, then Meera.

You already acted in this round. I'll assume that you are trying to wake them in the next round. Describe your actions, please.

Female Spellwarped Ghost Elf Witchblade 1(Warlock/Hexblade gestalt)

Arathalia extends a hand, a glow surrounting it as Rodrigo is moved back to a spot out of the tentacles' range. Mage Hand

Herc reaches down and shakes the unconscious form Lureene. "Wake up girl," He bellows, "we need your magic!"

Lureene slumbers deeply. Your attempts to wake her are met with failure. Knowledge (Nature) or Healing DC 15 to identify the cause of her condition.

Al nods to Arathalia gratefully as Rodrigo is pulled to safety, then frowns at Herc's failed attempt to rouse Lureene. Moving closer to the sleeping women he lets out a loud screech laced with magical energy.

Moves to within 15' of both Lureene and Meera and casts Dawn (Spell Compendium pg. 59 - all sleeping creatures within 15' are awakened.)
If that doesn't work, then Knowledge(Nature) 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23 and Heal 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Rodrigo's stabilisation check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 (failed)

Trutik sees the effectiveness of Zissaren's blow and draws his longbow letting an arrow fly toward the central lump.

Ranged Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Damage 1d8 ⇒ 8

Alderthane:
Your knowledge of nature and helaing tells you that sleeping women are not affected by spells or enchantments, but by spores that the mold-creature emitted. Any spell that cures poison should work. If Rodrigo dies, be sure to mention it.

Male Hafling Paladin 1

Hey guys, I am bowing out of this one. Nightflier, thanks for opportunity to play in your game.

Sorry to see you go.

I've lost track of whose turn it is... I think it's the monster's, but I'm not sure.

Aye, I'm sorry to see you go Herc. The short time we gamed togethyer was fun. As for turn? I know I'm still playing sleeping beauty. :P

Meera wrote:

Ehh, you forgot me, he he.

*cough* The whole "Meera and Lureene are sleeping together" just comes across the totaly wrong way there, luv. Asides, we've only just met. ;)

Well, I can say we both have something in common, he he.

(drum roll please...)

Lousy Fort saves, he he.

Boom-tish, luv. Very droll. Now, if some one could wake us up and or kill this beasty...;)

Dark Archive

We'll proceed straight to next round, if nobody minds.

Dark Archive

New Initiative order:

Zissaren
Lureene Ourson
Alderthane
MONSTER
Jack's Cat
Meera
Luff
Arathalia
Trutik

We'll assume that new round has started.

Oh! I shall choose to valiantly delay my actions till the last phases of the round! Unless something should happen to change such a policy. :P

*Zzzzzz* :P

"ZZZZzzzz, snnrrrrkkkk!!"

the rest of the group is suprised to hear such a loud snoring coming from such a petite form.

Sorry for disappearing, its exam season and I haven't been online much for the last few weeks. Last exam is next week so I'll be fine then.

Zissaren pulls his last spear from his pack and sends it flying after the first two, hoping to end the fight before anyone else falls to the tentacled mass.

Attack 1d20+4 [14,4] = (18) damage 1d6+8 [3,8] = (11)

Dark Archive

The last spear, driven by powerful reptilian arm skewers the moldy growth. The whole cavern shudders and tentacles start to spasm. Remaining sacks burst and acidic slime floods the whole room. Fleshy walls start to split open and strange silvery mists can be seen swirling in the openings. On the edge of hearing a wailing scream rings in your ears...
