I am a long-time gamer who is really appreciative of what Paizo is doing to preserve and enhance the 'old system' I know and love. I also like the way d20pfsrd.com has started to layout the new Pathfinder rule information. But I am curious to find out what Paizo thinks about this site. Are they on board with what John Reyst is building or do they find it to be conflicting with what they are building in any way?
Those who represent Paizo, please chime in.

I was going to say the same thing...
Really, I think it would be more productive to shift the focus from the "OGL" core rules, to things that appear in setting books and expansions and the like. I get the feeling that whatever goes in the Advanced Player's Guide will get the official PRD treatment as well, but covering the plethora of Traits, Feats, and Equipment seems a useful contribution.

I find the d20pfsrd.com to be very useful. For one it is searchable. I like the layout better. I find it easier to find what I am looking for.
Honestly I seriously doubt Paizo cares. They have always known others would do that.

I'd like to chime in here. Some have expressed similar thoughts, "with the PRD available, why does he continue?" I'll try to answer that now.
1) I prefer the d20srd.org layout over the layout of the PRD. Others may find the layout of the PRD more to their liking but I am purposely following the general layout of d20srd.org, which I think has demonstrated a great usability level. I strongly prefer many of the layout choices Jans has made on d20srd.org and I try to emulate them on d20pfsrd.com. I could go into many of them, such as presenting tables of links above text you only read once, but I won't waste space with that.
2) I think having a fan-made and fan-maintained copy of the SRD rules is an excellent resource in case anything ever happens to the PRD. If Paizo servers experience issues (and you usually use their PRD) you can always come to mine. I don't think Google Sites is ever down, or at least I have never known them to be and I have been using them for years. In addition to simply serving as a back-up, it's fully open. I've made every effort to invite whomever wants to help me maintain it into the collaborator pool. There are currently almost 20 people signed on as collaborators. I'd like to organize it a bit more but everyone has different skill levels and availability so its hard to organize it too much. At some point in the future I might consider moving it off of Google Sites, but right now I like it because its very easy for non-technical people to get in and edit stuff and it does version control, backups, search, and ties into Google Docs nicely.
3) I do now, and plan to in the future, host more than just the core rules. I currently have all monsters from the preview bestiary and bonus bestiary posted and plan to incorporate all open content released by Paizo as it is released, AS WELL AS, convert previously released 3.5 formatted monsters and other content. My ultimate vision is being one of three core Pathfinder fan sites, each focusing on a different category.
- a- Official Paizo Open Content: That's me. I will host and convert all Paizo open content I can get my hands on, NOT just the core rules as I understand will be available in the PRD.
- b- Official Paizo Setting Materials: That's the Pathfinder Wiki started by Mark (yoda8myhead). His site (well along with many others of course) is the ultimate resource for official setting material.
- c- Fan-created content for Pathfinder: That's the PathfinderDB started by Tahsin (veector). That site seems to be the best place I've seen so far for content created by fans for the Pathfinder RPG.
Now certainly there are other sites that either do currently, or will in the future, do any or all of the above things. However, I have made a point of restricting my site to just Paizo Open Content and have directed people with fan-made content to the PFDB and those with setting questions to the PF-Wiki. Anyone and everyone is free to do as they please, I'm just saying what I do. Other people may even find other sites that do the things I mentioned above better than the ones I listed, but from my perspective, they are each the best in their respective categories.
So those are my thoughts. I also want to reiterate my dedication to the OGL and remind people that if you see something that you think should not be there, please tell me. With a team of people working on the site, some with a better grasp of the OGL than others, its entirely possible something might get in that shouldn't. I'll take down any offending bits as soon as they are noted and remind all the editors what can and can not be hosted.
Thanks and I hope people enjoy the site so far!

Well, it seems from the responses that at least some people are confused about the different sites, and their uses, which is why I was hoping someone from Paizo would be willing to share their thoughts. Is it worth people's time to be working to maintain d20pfsrd.com? Is Paizo planning to maintain/improve the content of their site, continuing to make it more effectively searchable?
