Well I am going in with the mind set that he is going to be kicked out of THIS school and that I am going to have to find a new one...or go back to his base school. So as long as he isn't expelled than I am prepared for what comes. *sigh* I really did like this school though.

Sorry you have to deal with the drama. I know that it sucks when stuff goes wrong with the gaming group :/
Solnes wrote:

Aww, I hate drama, and yet our lives seem full of it. :\

I hope things go better than expected for you though.

I just wish it was a cut-and-dry situation. Guy lost his job, is now working retail, can only make about 1 game a month due to no set scheduling (and our game being on Fridays) - and the rest of the group is sick of having to run his character for him and he gets rewarded for it (i.e. level advancement, magic items, etc).

Good times....argh.

We had to kick someone out of our group who went from no knowledge of the 3e system to becoming the most annoying rules lawyer ever in two weeks. He criticized people for "suboptimal" choices, and just became belligerent. It still wasn't fun kicking him out.

Hopefully, your player will understand that it's the time constraints. Have you thought of offering to let him play a DMPC when he can make it?

You know, sometimes you think that you can have a civil converstaion among opposing veiwpoints and then someone has to come in and commence the asstardary.

Samoas. I think they have heroin in them. Nothing should be that good.

David Fryer wrote:

You know, I really wish people would stop complaining about my conversions. I don't mean constructive criticism, like "have you looked at using this instead of this." I mean the "no, you are doing it wrong because I don't like it" kind of complaining. If you disagree with the way I converted the 4E pantheon back to PFRPG than get off your lazy ass and do your own conversion.

Sorry I just had to vent.

This is really frustrating. Let me float two balloons: first, there's always the internet thing, where the lack of tone etc is difficult. But second, it just amazes me the extent to which people either have gained no skill at criticism or just don't care to exercise it. Ask questions, don't complain, people. (Unless of course it's me complaining, then there must be a really good reason... :S).

Raven Queen for the win, David! I lost that thread, can you redirect me?

I reposted the work here. This is where the complaining occured.

Raven Queen for the win, David!

See that's the thing. One guy asked why I had chosen kukris for the Raven Queen's favored weapon. I was okay with that. Then some other guy jumped in, "Grumish should have a spear, and Correlon should hve a longsword, and Bahaumet and Tiamat should have claws for their favored weapons. That's how 3.5 did it." Okay then use 3.5's stuff. I was converting them as they were imagined in 4E, not 3.5.

Yeah. You've got that right. I have seen a number of times where it's "David Fryer wrote: anything//BLAHSTUPIDBLAHWRONGBLAH".

You also found someone who just likes to be contentious in general on your conversion thread. The first guy seems like he's having a conversation with you about it, though.

See I don't understand what you are saying here. Have you been visiting the pet shop again?

Yeah. The other guy just likes to be contentious on every thread I've seen him post in. He is one of the driving forces in the cleric/heavy armor uprising and the edition wars.

Suggestions, FWTAW

If you're attracting an obnoxious stalker, maybe just focus on the other posters? If you read his (I assume) stuff at all, look for one positive thing to take from his post to notice, and ignore the rest. You're only on the defensive if you make yourself beholden to his complaints. Warning: Strategies may sound easier in the abstract with no complainers prodding you. Warranty void outside of Mairkurion's head.

I haven't noticed any obvious stalkers, just a general level of asshattery from certain posters when our paths do cross. Nobody seems to be following me from thread to thread though, except Aberzombie and that's because he's afraid I'll pass up his post count.

I haven't read much 4e, but the Raven Queen was one of those things I thought worth a look. I kept feeling lots of resonance with Pharasma -- was I getting stuck on the obvious?

No, you have a point there. Throw a little bit of Zon-Kuthon in there, mostly the fact that they both live on the plane of shadows, and you just about have it.

Oh, good. Well, still the strategies might offer something.

Excellent. My non-obvious stalking methods are working!

Missing the connection to repeated mentions of the 'pet shop'. Is it the GD? I feel like a newb.

Good Luck today Solnes, I really hope everything goes well for you.
I am off work early(ish) today, so I will call you when I get home so you can vent if you need to.

lynora, I hope Bryce is doing better. It sucks when kids are sick, you just wish you could be sick instead of them.

Pat I hope everything is looking better for you soon.

Everyone else I'm off to work so you'll have to just put up with the fact I didn't name you all individually.

And on a brighter note for me: I was very surprised last night when I got some completely unexpected good lovin'. I'm still in shock... YAY! for wine I suppose...
