That would have been sweet!
He did get the idea produced as a manga in Japan. of course it was done by the same people who did the manga versin of Macross so they ended up with Vipers that transformed into giant robots.

Holy s~@*. You just took me for a trip on the way back machine.

I remember SEEING bits and pieces of that manga scanned WAY back in the 90's when I first got online with AOL. At the time I thought it was just another doujinshi, but I later found out that it was something authentic, but I never got actual proof until this statement. Thanks man, one for the proof, and two for making me feel OLD! ;-)

No problem. Glen was a friend of my parents growing up, we went to church together. I know all kinds of dumb little bits of trivia as a result. The Pegasus manga, Robotech, and Starblazers were the three things that combind to turn me on to anime and manga.

Glen Larson was the Fo'Schnizzle!

Although he did have a thing for robots with flashing red lights for eyes. He even managed to sneak one into the background in oneof the episodes of Buck Rogers. It was basically just a stripped down cylon costume.

s#%$s bricks

That's amazing.

Almost as amazing as me getting to the top of the page for the first time EVAR!!!!

One little tidbit that almost nobody knows. Kurt Russell was actually the original Michael Knight. I don't know if the proofs still exist, but they actually shot a whole two and a half hour pilot film with Kurt in it. Then he backed out when they decided to do a weekly television series, because he anted to be free to do movie work. Glen showed me the movie once because he knew I was a big Knight Rider fan. I wish Kurt had stuck it out. He was much better then the Hoff.

Scarab Sages

Buck Rogers was an awesome series. I'd love to see someone do a new series that doesn't suck the way SciFi's Flash Gordon did.

Ssh. ABC might be tapping this thread!

That series was god awful. So bad. Especially after reading the short lived(and unusually bloody) Flash Gordon comic that came out not long after the series ended. A real disappointment.

While Kurt in Knight Rider would have been cool, I'm glad it didn't happen. His movies are among some of my favorites. The Thing. Escape From New York. Big Trouble in Little China. Classics!

Aaaaahhhh! Sacrelige! How dare you try to tarnish a piece of my childhood.

Ok, so it was a bit cheesy, but what Sci-fi wasn't in those days.

Another bit of trivia. The scene in the A-Team where a Cylon walks past Dirk Bennedict at Universal Studios and Face says, "Don't I know you?" was entirely adlibed. They were actually in between takes, but they had left the camera running to get some crowd shots. When Dirk saw that they had caught it on video he insisted that they put it in the episode and in the openning credits.

I know, cheesy plantery romance was what made Flash Gordan great. I generally liked the new Flash Gordan series they did on Syfy, but I could not stand that they made the hawkmen a bunck of emo ripoffs of the Falcon.

Another trip on the way back machine- this was the first breaking of the fourth wall type joke I got as a kid.

Meh, I tried to get into it. It just made me cry. I guess I was spoiled by the movie from the early 80s. Queen's soundtrack kicked ass!

For those who don't know what we are talking about. I loved how they even put the cylon sound effect into the into in that scene.

Wife confirmed it's a Twilight Zone episode. Either a Small Talent for War or Little Talent for War. They end up blowing up the earth because we made peace within 24 hours.

Remember the episode where the guy finds a genie and wishes for immortality? Then he murders his wife in order to get sentenced to the electric chair, but instead gets life in prision? Loved that show. They used to do a Twilight Zone marithon on channel 13 in LA every year on the 4th of July.

Did the same thing in NY for New Year's and later for Memorial Day or Veteran's Day(can't remember which one) on Channel 11.

I liked Battle of the Planets, but it really didn't draw me into anime. After I saw Science Ninja Team Gatchiman though, I liked it much better.

Of course my favorite anime is still Martian Succesor Nadesico. It makes fun of everything I like about anime, which is what makes it so funny.

I'm hoping the will show it on Hulu or something like that. Because I will be watching NCIS.

Hulu is indeed schedued to have it, it should air one day after it does on TV. Hunny is very excited about this. :)

I found this whoel series for $25 and though it was a bargain (TV series usually run$50+ here). Turns Out I got ripped off.

I watched 4 episodes before I turned it off. That's like 3 hours of my life I'll never get back!

UGH! How could you like Nadesco?!? To me, it was a farce, not a parody. I much prefer things like Godannar and Vandread, which are more parody-like in my opinion.

How are you all doing today?
Things are good here. I have finals this week. :) Two more classes down!
I have to run and get hubby's scripts from Wal mart in a bit, gonna leave the kiddies with the neighbor and enjoy a few minutes by myself!! :)

Ken Tedesco? My old high school disciplinarian? That dude was a freak. I didn't think anyone liked him....

To me Godanner decided that intelligent writing could be replaced by crude jokes. I coul not get past the first episode. And yes, in many cases Nadesico was farce, in the Mel Brooks sense. That is why I enjoyed it. On the other hand, don't get me started on Nadesico: Prince of Darkness. That was clearly written by a Ruri fanboi.

Same here... and funnily enough all three of those movies are John Carpenter (and two of them are in my Top Ten). John and Kurt just couldn't go wrong in the 80's.
