Pathfinder Core Rulebook Art

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Grand Lodge

So, I decided to flip through the pages of the Core Rulebook tonight. Simply looking at the art. Just focusing on the art.

Noticed something.

Some (not all) of the magic effects have runes of light circling and orbiting the effect.

I LOVE THIS! I never noticed it before, but that is a very cool style and I really like it.

There were several pieces that were new to me that made me ponder and want to run that adventure. No idea if the pieces came from a particular adventure (well some I recognized) but the art inspires!

Yeah... nice job... really really nice.

Liberty's Edge

Yih; I noticed that too on the one where they're fighting the gutterpunk vampirespawns. It's cool as hell.

THAT was the first pic I noticed it in. Then I went back and yep found it many more times. Seoni is doing it on the cover (nasty girl!).

I want to go back and see if there is a theme. Maybe arcane magic does it and divine does not. Not sure, but will enjoy looking to see. But maybe it is unique to WAReynolds.

And Sarah Robinson should be proud. That is one attractive book.

Funny... never see her on the boards...

I noticed that too. There's a pic of the cleric (Kyra?) healing Val, with a bright glow as she touches him.
The necromancer on p. 211 has a cloud effect swirling around her. Must be negative energy! Spooky!

The pics and little blurbs that start off each chapter are beautifully done, and are very evocative. They're like the scenes I imagined when I started playing all those years ago. The pictures in the original booklets didn't do the game justice. These do.

The slightly anime/cthulu look of Golarion was a little off to me at first, but now I love it. Definitely the prettiest game book I've ever had!

Those runes are also on the covers of Into the Darklands, the Campaign Setting, Guide to Absalom, The Great Beyond and Gods and Magic.

All Wayne Reynolds, all awesome as hell!
