I'm skeptical. PnP gaming companies should focus on pend and paper products, not electronic stuff. Remember the e-Tools, Gleemax and DDI debacles ?
Also the whole iPhone thing doesn't jazz me at all. (We're in Europe, Nokia forever !) Unless the app could be used on other platforms than just the iPhone.
I hear you.
Right now all development on the app is being done off the clock, between the hours of 1 and 3 AM by yours truly, mostly as a hobby. The programming is being done by a huge Pathfinder fan in Hungary who just happens to run a mobile application programming firm. We trade emails furiously, I say "it would be cool if it did this," and a few days later I get a build that has what I was asking for. It's cool, but it's more like a personal side project than something that takes away from our other efforts at the moment.
It's an iPhone app because more than half of Paizo now uses iPhones. The technology is so cool that it spreads like a virus everywhere it goes. We're developing it for the iPhone because that's what the developer offered, and because we're all excited about it. Maybe also a teensy weensy bit because we all use Macs and we're tired of always having to wait endlessly while inferior programs are tested on other systems before dreaming that we might one day get to use them on our computers (dreams, I might add, that almost never come true).
We will migrate the program to other mobile devices once the iPhone version is ready to go. I have NO earthly idea how long this will take, as we've only really just started.

Don't forget that the iPhone has a Developer kit that's more or less like a "real" computer DevKit. After all, the iPhone is running OSX...
Maybe devices based on Android would be easier, but it will be REALLY hard to convert to Symbian. But then, that's just my two coppers...

Hmmm... work on the iPod Touch too? Much easier buy in than the iPhone. Between two of my players having iPhones and a third having an iPod Touch, this might convince me to get an iPod Touch too.

No no, it will be straight classic 'pox on both your houses' type curse.
Oh. Well. If it works on the Touch, I may not have to bring a curse down on the Mona household.
Ya know, I was saddened by my need to have a heavier duty phone than either an iPhone or a Blackberry since it meant I would likely never have access to this app of coolness.
However, you just remided me I am in need of a new iPod after my gen 5 finally crashed for the final time. (After several years of reliable and heavy use.) I wasn't going to bother with a Touch but I will now have to rethink that.

If it works on an iPhone, it will work on an iPod Touch, it's the same base system, the only difference is the phone.
But I can't see any reason why this app would REQUIRE the phone...So I say it will work!
But wait for Erik's answer... :-)

Dice rolling, mapping, digital character sheets, and it links up with nearby iPhones so that you can input status effects and have them automatically applied to the other players' iPhone sheets. I'm not so much interested in this, but I was at the seminar where they talked about it.
Sounds nice.
Make one for the LG arena, too.
