So I am looking for a bit of help in trying to distinguish the two countries a little more in my mind. I will likely be running Legacy of Fire this Fall, and they seem to be somewhat similar in my eyes.
I understand that Katapesh is a loose "anarchy" with a alien overseers, while Qadira is the edge of a much larger empire. They both seem to be "Oriental Adventures" or "Arabian Nights" style settings, with scimitars, genies, slave markets and harems. Katapesh is less desert-y and more lush, while Qadira seems to have more of the swathes of desert.
I realize Katapesh relies more on Abadar, while worship in Qadira spreads to more to other gods, such as Irori and Sarenrae.
Does anyone have any more concrete differences? Could anyone give me a few historical examples to follow up on? Any help is much appreciated.

There is going to be a lot of overlap due to the fact that Qadira used to own Katapesh and it's environs ... but for me, I would place Qadira as the "Near East" of Arabia, with Katapesh being either like Spanish Morocco or the African city states or even Upper Egypt ... Alexandria? There are several locations where "ownership" changed hands several times over the years, putting various layers of culture into the mix. Qadira is more "pure" arabian. Just my thoughts.

If you want real word analogies,
I would say Katapesh:Somalia/Horn of Africa, and Qadira:Algeria/Morocco.
Qadira does include grass-lands, agricultural areas, and even forests which support logging (though desert plateaus and mountains do dominate). Part of the flavor of Katapesh is that it IS so close to Qadira & Kelesh Empire, and the Qadira Companion actually says that before assimilation into the Kelesh empire, the 'native' Qadiran tribes had (and have) many commonalities with Garundi cultures (besides Genies & like 'mythological' flavor common in both regions).
I would suggest picking up the Qadira companion, which is available as a PDF, especially if any of your PCs are of Qadiran/Kelesh b/g, the Feats & Traits & Items from the Qadira Companion would really help flesh this aspect out even more. It also includes a new PC race (0 LA) akin to Aasimar, but to represent 1/4 genie blood, which should thematically fit into the LoF AP.

Yeah, I have both the Qadira Companion and Dark Markets, as well as the adventure path. I was really looking at whether to just wholesale pull any crunch from the companion to "double" as Katapesh feats, traits, etc. or if I should leave more of the Qadira stuff out.
It looks like they have a large amount of overlap, so I suspect I'll pull plenty from the Qadira book.
Thanks for all the help so far.
