The chamber before you is bedecked in moldering splendor. Stained tapestries, lit by flaming tapers and bronze braziers, glisten with mold and rainwater. Pillows and blankets, black with mildew, cover the floor. Cracked mirrors and tarnished copper shields hang from a fishing net strung along the ceiling. The air is thick with incense, but no amount of scent or perfume could conceal the oppressive reek of sweat and spilled wine.
At the far end of the chamber, past a low table strewn with half-empty jugs of wine and nibbled sweetmeats, is a divan hung with furs. Asleep in a drunken stupor atop the divan is a portly figure in an embroidered robe. A glittering crown — topped with gems — sits nearby atop a small gold coffer. A trio of hooded guards, dressed in the formless gray cloaks of executioners, stand watch over the sleeping form.
None of them seem to have noticed Dannad as he peers through the door.

TGZ101 |

Dannad hides behind the nearby tapestry and Hawkseer stands poised with knife in hand as the party prepares to use their surprise.
Everyone make sure and double-check your hit points on the tracker page. Remember, this is the official location for all your hit points, and is used by myself and the party leader for healing and damage.

Hawkseer |

I had done those things with no luck, but it worked this time. Yes, Hawkseer is bloodied. I'll save my one surge for when somebody heals me from dying. Where's a paladin when you need one?
Wait -- just realized the hp tracker isn't updated for leveling. Not bloodied.

Good point Pat. I haven't personally updated anyone's hit points for them on the tracker. Everyone please do so ASAP.
In other news, today is my 11+ hour busy day on campus and I don't have time to post for Dannad and make all the updates right now. Regardless of Dannad's posting, I'll try and move things along later this evening.

TGZ101 |

Many apologies I couldn't keep my deadline. This is the worst part of the week for me and this could be an important encounter. I want to give it the attention it deserves. I will try and get through my studies tomorrow morning and post ASAP. Just wanted you all to know you haven't been forgotten.

In a flurry the party explodes into action. Hawkseer declares his oath on the target from across the room.
Dannad whips a dagger at the standing guard and it strikes expertly into its neck with a strangely dull thudding sound. The guard teeters back and forth for a bit until falling over on the floor.
Galad moves to the edge of the tapestry to allow some room by the ladder for his companions and Daggobert heavily climbs to the top, which creaks under each step he takes. He manages to make it to the top, however, and sees the guard lying stiffly on the floor.
Vandis keeps watch at the bottom, having noway to join his companions at the moment.
As the dust begins to stir from the activity, a dagger snakes out of the shadows in the rafters above, and spins towards Galad. It flies a bit wild, however, and stakes into the wall next to the shaman's head.
Basic Ranged; 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 vs. AC for 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 damage.
Those with low-light vision can make out a small humanoid shape perched on the beams above. Currently very little can be seen of him other than his eyes, as the beams and shadows provide him with decent cover. He says nothing, the the glint of his blade can be seen once again as it reappears magically in his hand.
The figure on the bed remains still.

BS

TGZ101 |

Questions: What's 'BS' on the map? And what would be the drawbacks of melee in the rafters? Thanks.
BS is the newcomer who threw their dagger at Galad and is up in the rafters.
Melee in the rafters will require DC 10 Acrobatics checks when you move and will count as difficult terrain. I'll start putting brown borders around anyone in the rafters with the next map update.

Hawkseer |

Thanks. Hawkseer can't fail a DC10 Acrobatics, so here goes!
Growling at himself for falling for the decoy, Hawkseer immediately steps through the feywild, emerging in the rafters near the small shape. He then launches his dagger at it, shifting grip to his falchion immediately afterward.
Square S33. Ranged basic vs AC. Miss. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 111d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

TGZ101 |

Dannad stands unsure for several seconds from his spot beside the tapestry, and allows opportunity to slip by.
Your actions are rather important during this fight, so I don't wish to take your turns if I can help it.

Dagobert the Luckless |

Frowning slightly, Dagobert contents himself with bringing light to dark places, sending a beam of scything flame into the rafters. He shuffles clear of the top of the ladder to let Vandis through.
Move to W38
Avenging Light (Fort). If a bloodied ally is adjacent does +3 damage on hit.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

TGZ101 |

Dagobert lights up the corner, revealing what is definitely a sharp featured human with a face covered in knife scars, a face that winces in pain as Dagobert's invocation sears him.
Vandis clambers up the ladder in his heavy armor and sees the scene laid out before him.

Galad The Redeemed |

The spirit forms in the rafters and slashes at the rogue. Meanwhile, Galad draws a sunrod.
Summoning the spirit in the rafters of Q34(I can do that, right? 6 squares away from me, 2 above me, and it's within range without getting into the Pythagorean Theorem), using a sunrod to get some decent light in here, then using Stalker's Strike on the mysterious man(vs Fort, add +2 if he's in bright light when I attack him): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

TGZ101 |

Galad's companion slashes through the dark figure's cloak after materializing balanced among the rafters. The figures eyes open wide with alarm and pain as the spirit draws blood.
The figure slashes at the tottering spirit companion with expert precision, banishing the creature with a precise strike to it's ethereal throat.
Dagger Attack; 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 vs. AC for 1d4 + 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + (2, 4) + 5 = 12 damage; -5 HP to Galad
Placing his gleaming dagger between his teeth, he then hops around the rafter with practiced ease and grins down at the party, giving a sly wave to Galad as he does so.
The figure on the divan continues to rest comfortably.
The room is now brightly lit by Galad's sunrod and the grime and dirt of the squalor is even more obvious.

Hawkseer |

Hawkseer moves nimbly around the rafters, looping partially around the knife-wielder, before slashing with his falchion.
Move to U34, avoiding OAs from BS. Bond of Pursuit vs AC. On hit, if target ends its turn non-adjacent, I can shift 4 (net 2) as a free action to end nearer it.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 222d4 + 4 ⇒ (2, 4) + 4 = 10
