Is anyone else starting to have a hard time surfing gaming sites at work because of the giant cleavage in the nigh-omnipresent Evony ads? Just wondering.

I usually turn off auto-downloading of images. I have to turn them on again for some purposes though (like using the buttons on these posting forms here).

Scarab Sages

They are incredibly annoying. And incredibly misleading. The games somewhat addictive though.

They have jumped out at me on a few Flash-based games that I've tried. But that's mostly at home.

Yes

Really...I find myself surfing more hoping to bump into the Ads.

I don't appreciate them. Often I'm at home and my son (age 8) is hovering nearby and I don't want him seeing such ads. I've seen them on other forums/sites too.

Ah, Evony. Really, how the ads went from generic fantasy pictures to breasts with the game's name in fine print would be hilarious if it wasn't so annoying.

Scarab Sages

Doesn't bother me, I can see people coming into my office...

Though the Evony change is pretty lame...

I typically do not see any advertisements on the internet beyond the ubiquitous google text ads through a combination of Firefox and the Adblock Plus Addon. Which gaming websites are you seeing these advertisements at?

Well, what prompted this yesterday was EN World's banner, but I've seen other sites with the ad. I think at one time Open Design's forums hosted the Evony ad as well.

As was mentioned above, the "Giant Cleavage, Small Company Name" motif is relatively new for them.

I can't say I'm too impressed with the supposed NSFW quality of these pictures. I mean common WoW, NWN, and Flyff have more "risque" pictures than those used for Evony.

As an artist, I'm offended by them. The ads look like someone took an existing photo and just airbrushed the hell out of it until it had the proper veneer of fantasy to it. And the woman's skin looks enough like a flattened orange peel, bereft of highlights or shadow or any shift in tone. Blech.

Never mind work. I just don't like the ads. I don't care if anyone else sees them. I don't want to see them myself. They are tacky and lowbrow. I am one of those people who is irritated by advertising as a matter of course.
