I am not sure if the new Spider qualifies. What about the Shockwave? I am sure that the Blue Flame does. Not to mention this guy.

HEY! The Jenner(and Owens) are a thing of BEAUTY, man!!!

Gonna disagree with the starslayer and jenner. Both are Fine looking mechs. The old unseen hawk as well is a fine looking mech.

Not the Royal LAM.
Trust me. You're going to freak.

There's a fine line between ugly cute and ugly dumb. Owens gets a pass for looking like a BattleMech. The 'one hump camel' is way far south of that aesthetic border.
Upgraded Jenner fits my sense of aesthetics better. At least the cockpit doesn't look like something that was tacked on as an afterthought.

Dies Irae |

why, why do that let people smoke crack and drawl mechs? Then publish them, gods above why?
Because there's people like me who find the new LAMs head and shoulders above the original Macross inspired designs.
The unseen and their connection to the Hory Froating Head be damned. I think the new LAMs are a better fit for the universe.
Gonna disagree with the starslayer and jenner. Both are Fine looking mechs. The old unseen hawk as well is a fine looking mech.
I always terribly hated the Starslayer's plumbing pipes, but I thought it was just a perspective issue with the art.
In fact, I very nearly bought myself a Starslayer. Then I stared at the blister, and it annoyed me enough to put the 'Mech back down and go buy myself a 4th Awesome.
Most 'Mechs don't do that to me.

seekerofshadowlight |

The new LAm art is just not made for the same game. It is to busy with to many edges and looks like a transformer from the new movies.
It just does not fit. Now we all know all TRO's have crappy art, so it is not a slam on all the new stuff. Although I do find most DA mechs to be crap, design ways anyhow.
I can't disagree with most of the ones ya have as ugly. I may be biases on the jenner, one of my fav pc's rolled a jenner and I played it many times.

They fit with the WoB design aesthetic.
Archangel
Seraph
Deva
Grigori
Preta
Malak
Compact cockpits and head mounted weapons huzzah!
*At this point, I'm probably just tweaking people's noses. I love the aesthetics of the Celestial OmniMechs to death. Can't field them without feeling guilty, but what can you do?

seekerofshadowlight |

Well I could see it as one small groups design style. Mos of those look like clan mechs with edges and claws and piping added to me.
Over all still to..edgy and knife like..for BT as a whole. To many little lines way, way to much detail, just so busy looking that they do not fit.
Some one watched alot of the new transformer movies .

The 'Claws' are actually retractable punching blades. I love them. It's strange and unhealthy, but there's nothing quite like punching a Clanner/Fedrat/Derogatory Faction Nickname Here and declaring "It's going internal".

Ah, well if they have a reason it is not as bad. I kinda like the look over all, if they had brought it bad back a wee bit. They are just to busy as if made for another game.
The old unseens set a tone , which most mechs even goofy ones keep. But when it gets to busy they no longer fit.

seekerofshadowlight |

True, I really like Looses art. I still hold all TRO art up to his and most is found wanting.
Your right, that looks Much better. The art is just to busy. I guess the spikes are some kind of coolent system or coms system or something.
I kinda like the mini really, the art is just junk though, no offense,

Dies Irae |

So does the Vanquisher
No saving the Blood Kite, Imp, Dragonfire or Colossus though. Some designs, you can't save.

How is that even a LAM?

Ah the Nova, yet another fine mech.
The Nova is a fine mech but it's grandson is not.

eh cheap knock off...I did like the blackhawk ku however.

![]() |

how is it unclan like? I am not seeing what you are getting at here. And many of the 3050 clan mech are ugly..Gargoyle and Executioner I look at you
The only way that the Dasher can survive more than a few seconds on the battlefield is to sneak up from behind and shank you from behind. Not exactly the epitome of the Clan way of thinking.
I love the Warhawk though.

seekerofshadowlight |

Ah spoken like one who does not use fire moths much or plays clan. If a foe is foolish enough to allow you on his back in a duel that is his fault. Nothing unlcan like about exploiting a warriors weakness and inability to keep you off his weak spot. Just not ambushing. They are used heavily for duels in some clans. Heh firemoth duel takes both skill and luck
Also the firemoth is king of elemental deployment, in fact that was what it was made for. Check out the arms. It was made to put elemental any where they needed to be. The horses use them heavily for that as do the bears.
Always watch the firemoth as those assigned to it are often on the last step of front line duty and have something to prove.
And yes, the warhawk is pure style.

Dies Irae |

Speaking of fugly mech
Haters gonna hate...
They just need to stop..just stop it.....I loose intrest in the new TRO every time I see this stuff. That is not a mech made for the game I played I'll tell you that.\
Have a Hellstar and call me in the morning.

As a Knight of the Inner 'Sphere, I wholeheartedly support shooting people in the back. Ambushing... Bad. Walloping the knave who ignored you as a threat... Good.

Exactly! Honorable combat is about a test of skill and if the opponent isn't skilled enough...
*COUGH COUGH*
*Collapses*

Dies Irae |

I like the hellstar really. Solid looking machine. And yes nothing in zellbrigen says you can not fire at your foes rear. He exposed it to you so it is fair game. The best warrior lives and earns glory, while the unskilled and foolish die. Such is the way of the clans.
Okay... now that you're stable...
28 tons of pod space on a 55 ton chassis. Have fun.

seekerofshadowlight |

Humm..I can't place it but something about the Targe I like..I may not love it but I do like the look.
Ghost is a mess for me, it is like they had a bunch of junk left over from a bunch of different models that did not match but they made em fit anyhow.
Thunder fox, I like this one, ok I am a sucker for a 4 legger but this one is lean and mean looking
The ostwar..I like this one, not as well silly looking as the other osts mechs. Looks like an early era mech really . More in line with the older per star league stuff.

Dies Irae |

The OstWar was born from a running gag about the original TRO 3025 unseen OstRoc not matching the BattleMech stats. You can see hints of the original design inspiration.
The Ghost is a cooperation by Defiance Industries of Hesperus and Earthwerks of Calloway IV. Literally parts shipped over and assembled.
Also... a Rook

Dies Irae |

ugh..the rook is also too busy looking. Some of these new art guys need to lean less is more sometimes.
It also looks like big round power armor...made from a trash can.
Which is exactly what is was: Armor and weaponry slapped onto a chassis in desperation and sent out to fight the Jihad.
"The NH-1A was constructed using several pieces of antiquated technology. This RetroMech packed a powerful array of lasers to back up a PPC, creating a fearsome opponent on the battlefield. However, the NH-1A’s outdated engine technology only allowed it a top speed of fifty-four kph. While the primitive technology of its construction allowed the New Hessen WorkMechs factory to produce the ’Mech with ease, the slow NH-1A was clearly outclassed by other ’Mechs of the same weight class."

Dies Irae |

Rolling out the Flamberge, Blood Reaper, Shadow Cat II and Karhu
The Flamberge was originally designed to imitate the Inner Sphere partial wing and jump jets combination, but the Falcons couldn't figure out how they worked properly. In desperate need for more 'Mechs, they pressed the OmniMech into service without Jump Jets.
The Blood Reaper and Shadow Cat II are Clan second line machine. Nothing more needs to be said.
The Karhu is interesting because its a frontline OmniMech incorporating close combat weaponry.
---------------------
I must say that after the blandness of earlier TROs (58-67, I'm looking at you), it's nice to see BattleMechs being built for reasons other than "because we can". Politics, bribery, desperation, parts being slapped together... It's all good.

Dies Irae |

Hate the wings and the claw on the first
2 and 3 look good to me
4...battle armor.
You say Battle Armor, I say HILARIOUS CONTINUATION OF INSIDE JOKE.
Ah, good ol' Ursus. You never truly left us.
