Faraday was not chosen because of Lost.

I am an autodidact. I love science, and am self taught to a level where I can work through primary texts. I never had a chance to attend a university, due to poverty in South Africa. I have high school only.

Faraday is the autodidact's autodidact. So is Chandresakar, but Merlin Chandresakar Hoyle doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

I wanted at first to name my boy Merlin Darwin Hoyle, but my mother wisely pointed out the ill meter of the line.

My wife joked that I ought to call him Paizo, and was aghast when I pretended to take her seriously.

His chinese name is Mei Lin. "Ink forest", being a literary or metaphorical forest. Mandarin can sometimes be very specific.
