"He's here, in spirit at least," grins Milaniel from Grakl's body. Casting her eye over the others and determining that Cenciach is still the most wounded, Milaniel casts her remaining two healing spells on the dragon, healing him of a further 12 hit points. With a strange smile, Grakl's form becomes indistinct as the ghost departs his body, his eyes rolling in their sockets before refocussing as he regains control of his body, Milaniel's incorporeal form lazily drifting away from him.

Cenciach |

"No! He lie! I no want to eat little dragon. I want to hug and kiss little dragon."
Yuhm Yuhm makes smooching sounds with his big lips.
Cenciach backs away nervously. "Um, can I come with you, Grakl? I promise not to make any noise."

From where you stand, you can hear a distant murmuring from down the stairs marked E - perhaps voices, although it's hard to be sure as the sound is faint and distorted. The doors at C and D are sturdy, reinforced doors. Both are closed, although there is no obvious lock on either. You can see one or two pillars in the chamber labelled A which opens out at the end of the corridor.
The air is cool and, apart from the distant sound echoing from down the stairs, still and quiet.

Monty Haul |

do I have anything with which I can make some traps? I ama trapsmith afterall, that would help slow them down...
You didnt have anything with you when you escaped. It's quite likely that the backpacks you scrounged from the rogue and wizard will have bits and pieces which would be useful. Although searching through them would take some time.

Were we standing here long enough to retroactively take 20 on my Autohypnosis test to regain psionic focus? I kind of forgot about it. Also, my buffs have run out, so spending another power point for Force Screen.
No - I know it seems like weeks, but in fact you only left the entrance chamber a few moments ago. You'll need to roll (or wait until you can find somewhere suitable to rest).

Monty Haul |

Are you taking the lantern with you or leaving it here?
Grakl leads the rest of you cautiously down the corridor towards the chamber up ahead. He moves carefully, examining the floor, walls and ceiling for any signs of traps or other unpleasant surprises as he goes. When you reach the chamber you peer in to see an empty chamber apart from five carved, stone pillars.
Evenly spaced around the room are four statues each showing a slender, human woman, holding a large sword, point resting on the floor. They have been carved to face the larger pillar at the centre of the room, each with their faces downcast deferentially. The central pillar is bigger and shows a minotaur, shoulders braced against the roof, as if he were holding up the entire mountain.

Saamasal floats into the room and taps the nearest statue with the flat of his blade. "Just statues. Come on, let's keep going."
For a moment, nothing happens as Saamasal hits the statue with his sword. After a few moments, you hear a deep grinding sound and the head of the statue turns towards him, an impassive expression on its face. The rest of the statue remains completely motionless as its head turns...and continues turning, spinning slowly all the way around a full three hundred and sixty degrees. When it returns to its original position it continues revolving at an ever increasing pace.
After the statue completes its first revolution, the other three statues of female warriors also begin spinning their heads, the room filling with a grinding sound as they rotate faster and faster. As they begin moving faster and faster, the statue of the minotaur remains motionless in the centre of the room.

"Oh, great. Good idea, Sammy, poking it should keep us very safe!" Cenciach says, looking annoyed. He goes up to the minotaur statue and examines it, trying to determine its properties.
Knowledge (arcana)+6=17.
Monty Haul |

Cenciach flies into the centre of the room to examine the statue of the minotaur. It appears finely carved from a single block of stone. Its surface is polished and smooth and extremely lifelike. As far as you can tell, it is otherwise unremarkable. As the rest of you remain in the doorway, the heads continue to spin at a faster and faster rate, the grinding noise rising in both pitch and volume.
At this stage, I'm assuming you've left the lantern back at the intersection and are relying solely on darkvision. If anyone wants to take it, make sure you let me know.

Grakl Longtooth |

Yes, yes, gogo!
I will be scanning for traps ahead...and yes we left the lantern...

I am sorry to say that I am going to have to abandon my PBP DMing obligations. It’s been pretty clear over the last few weeks that I am struggling to keep up in any satisfying way – I’ve just taken on another university course and that means about 40 hours of lectures I’m going to have to write in the next few months (plus setting exams, assignments and the dreaded marking obligations). Although I have time to check the boards – I just don’t have any creative headspace free to give the job what it deserves.
I would like to apologise to everyone who’s been playing – you’ve been very patient with a new PBP DM and I do feel bad, however limping along with at most one or two posts a week from the DM is unlikely to be very satisfying imo. All I can offer is a guaranteed spot for any of you who want it once things settle and I can get back into running PBP again (not likely until January, though).

That's fine. RL will always come first. I really enjoyed this game, and I will definitely rejoin once it returns. Good luck.

Welcome back, everyone. Here is the updated map, you are currently standing at the point marked A. Hmmm, I'm really going to have to get better at this. Hope you can all make out the squiggles...
The room you have just left contains several statues whose heads have begun rotating - you can clearly hear the squeal of stone on stone, gradually rising in pitch as they spin faster and faster. Further back (corridor G) you can hear the distant sounds of pursuit. The voices are fairly faint, no doubt they are moving carefully.
Looking ahead you scout out the immediate area, Three sturdy doors are nearby, each leading in a different direction (B,C,D) there are also two passages leading away from this area a long, straight passage heading off deeper into the dungeon (E) and a winding corridor heading east (F).
You would estimate the mob of humans are maybe a minute or two behind you. With the exception of Milaniel, you are all wounded, tired and hungry.
Where too?

Rereading, it looks like I'm out of spells, yes?
Milaniel's eyes narrow. "It matters little which way we go, as long as we go quickly. That passage indicating B is as good as another, I suppose. I will go ahead, in case there are more... surprises."
