"ghost in a marble indeed..."
The orb rolls back.
"Hey, look guys! I can roll now!
"Anyways, we need to do something about that one. He reminds me of something, or someone, and when I felt that blast...it didn't feel like it came from him. Hmm...
"Anyways, you should check out the Oasis and the other spots. He might have gone there too."

JH holds onto Lyn to steady her.

Maybe you need to anchor yourself in the storm. Hold onto me.

JH's eyes flash bright green and the faint sound of leaves rustling in the wind can be heard from him. On his back the tree tattoo looks as if it is swaying in strong winds.

LJ leans against him, and slowly her breathing starts to return to normal.

I couldn't absorb so much power at once, she murmurs. Even if I am the one that sent it out.

We really must teach you to feint, f-e-i-n-t. ;)

She giggles. Yeah, that would be good. Less time unconscious. More time not getting hit. Not really a downside to that idea.

I giggle sometimes.....

Okay....she gasps....anything....that....can.....reflect...
she stops and wheezes a little.

Thank you, she says with a grateful smile. I appreciate any help you can give. Trying to use the powers of a goddess, even a small fraction of them, without burning out my mortal body is a little more challenging than I anticipated.

I was helpful to someone once, and they smiled at me....it was a peachy day.

The omniportal flares to life, and Devlyn and Allura step through into the Sanctum for the first time. They start looking around for LJ, Jack Hammer or Alaina.

LJ and JH are near the front entrance. She is leaning against him and looks somewhat tired.

lynora-Jill wrote:

They walk over to them. By how tired LJ looks, they may already have their answer.

"You guys didn't, by any chance, just get some unexpected company here, did you?"

Yes, a black dragon flew in, made some unreasonable demands, and then somehow threw my own power back at me before he flew away. Why do you ask? she sounds alarmed. Did something happen at the Oasis? Is everyone okay?

"A dozen skeletons oozing some red gunk that was harmful to plantlife tried to attack the Oasis. Nimora and Mirathan took care of half of them in the dunes outside the treeline. Allura and I got jumped by the other six at one of the pools inside the Oasis."

"We have that little lizard-riding goblin Auruns to thank for giving us some forewarning - otherwise it might have been worse..."

"There were some injuries, but everybody's okay now. We just weren't sure if anything similar happened here or at the Grove."

You forget Auruns! You forget the part Auruns play! :)
Edit:
Well he might be protesting if he weren't still back at the oasis looking for his gecko...

LJ glances back and forth between Devlyn and Allura noticing that they seemed to have only the one outfit between them. Well that would explain....er, never mind. So the undead were all destroyed? I don't know if anything tried to attack the Grove or not. We should probably check.

He curses under his breath, getting a bit of color to his cheeks, then presses on: :)

"We couldn't find any more at the Oasis, and the others are keeping an eye out for any more disturbances. I was going to head to the Grove next, but we can do that ourselves if you need time to recover..."

He looks around.
"However, I would like to find some place for us to dress more appropriately first, if we can," he says with a lopsided grin.

I don't know...I don't want to leave here for too long, but I usually feel better in the Grove than just about anywhere else. What do you think, hon? she asks, JH

lynora-Jill wrote:

Undead would feel 'very uncomfortable' at the Grove. The positive energy it touches wreaks havoc on them. His eyes seem to look backwards or forwards in time, and the vision brings a smirk to his face.

Not that the Grove is some haven of Law or Good, but it overwhelmingly a haven of Life fed by positive energy.

Well, that certainly explains why I feel so at home there. The undead might not be able to get in, but what about the dragon? Do you think it's safe from him as well?

Yes, I'm still not sure how they managed to get through Sirone's wards...

We're experimental creatures; we might even be constructs animated by necromantic energy, as opposed to true undead...

[tinfoil] Or someone might have sabotaged or over-ridden the wards... :D [/tinfoil]

JH shrugs. It's strange that he seems so cavalier about the possibility.

I think the powers there should give anyone pause.

Alrighty - logging off to commute home. If the gang heads over to the Grove, Devlyn and Allura will try to get some more clothes on before going, if possible (though the wardrobe options at the temple are probably not going to over much more modesty, something tells me...) ;)

I should be back online in an hour :)

Aaaaaaand we're back folks

"So, shall we go check up on the Tree Emperor, or can you send one of your winds to check up on him, LJ?"

E7 and JH will be occupied tonite by 3.5. All is well in the Grove, unless Patrick wishes to crush any enemies with his awesomeness. [/end Man Love]

Understood - just covering all the bases :)

Have fun at the game tonight!

I can't tell if the headache that just hit me is due to hunger, staring at a monitor all day, or both. I think I'll call it a night, regardless.

Lynora, if you want to take Devlyn & Allura back to the Oasis or leave them here for the night, either works for me now that we know the Grove is safe - just leave a little blurb so I know where to go in the morning. :)

G'night all! :)

Assume that they went back to the Oasis then. I don't think they're dressed for a party :P

Alaina returns from the temple with some party snacks

What did I miss?

Alaina, the Fire Flower wrote:

LJ is leaning against JH looking tired.

A very big, very nasty black dragon. Oh, and there was some sort of undead that actually got past the wards to attack the Oasis.

Alaina sighs and looks tired

Remember when we used to drink and spin records? What the heck happened?

Alaina, the Fire Flower wrote:

Every evil creature within a five light year radius suddenly decided we were the people to beat to gain evil street cred?

She sighs.
I'm sorry. It's more than a little bit my fault. I seem to be a magnet for evil crazies.

lynora-Jill wrote:

Alaina laughs loud and long when Lynora-Jill says this

Honey, I was the priestess of an evil crazy! I know crazy inside out and backwards!

Although her laughter has a tinge of sadness in it, it is one of the first laughs Lynora-Jill has heard from her friend lately.

Posting to get dot

It's good to hear you laugh again. And who knows? Maybe one of these days the evil crazies will take a holiday and we can just have fun for a bit.

She doesn't sound too hopeful about the last bit, but she's trying to stay positive.

Alaina hugs her friend

Thanks Lyn She says

Amused silvery laughter rings through the hall, and Alaina and Lynora suddenly find that there is a beautiful elven woman dressed in woodland finery with them. Her age is indeterminate, after the manner of some with fey heritage, and there is some unquantifiable element of wild beauty to her.
My apologies, but I could not help but overhear your conversation, as I was was passing. If I had an acorn for every child or immature elf I have heard whinging about 'but things used to be so much fun - why do I have to do that?'... Well let us say that I would have a considerable forest.

LJ eyes the newcomer thoughtfully, the stars in her eyes swirling slowly as she activates her amulet of true seeing.
I don't believe we've been introduced. My name is Lynora-Jill. And you are?
Her words are pleasantly polite. She is trying to size up this new arrival before jumping to any conclusions.

My name is Alaina, a pleasure to meet you.

Alaina extends her hand in greeting with the diplomacy of a long-term hostess

Oh, I don't like to stand on formality, in places like this, so feel free to call me 'Elly'. I have a handful of titles, which are useful for boring particularly pompous humans with at the gaming tables of casinos, but none of them matter very much at this moment.
I heard about the new resort here, and that gamblers would be flocking from all corners in a very short time, and thought that I would drop by to take a look at it myself. So far the set up looks most impressive in the scale of such things which I have seen in my lifetime.
Lynora's not seeing any more at this moment than Sunny G would, which is what appears to be an elf who does have a not immodest number of protective spells woven about her, though nowhere near as much magic as, say, the average archmage.

Oh, how quaint, she exclaims in response to Alaina's offered hand, but still takes the time to briefly and firmly shake it.

Edit:
You're the hostess here, aren't you? she addresses Alaina. Do you get frightfully bored shaking hands and greeting people?

Frogskin flies in. He looks bad. He is badly battered, and flying unsteadily, and one of his eyes is bleeding.*
"I...have some bad news. The Kittens are not, as we previously believed, going to help. They are, in fact, most likely still trapped. The Defectives, however, are still fully functional. The Lemmings are less than such.
"We were ambushed. The Lemmings were nearly wiped out. So was I, but some...mage intervened."
He notices the new arrival.
"Who are you?"
*Because we didn't have any people missing eyes yet.

Alaina withdraws her hand after a brief touch

I am the Herald of Sunny Godhead. This is his temple. All with true virtue and humble heart are welcome here.

She turns at the sudden arrival of Jay Frogskin

That is terrible news Jay.

Oh dear. That sounds very bad business. And it also sounds very private. I am a guest here, visiting the casino, and if you have such important things to discuss, I shall excuse myself at once.

She makes to go, both looking and sounding embarrassed.

LJ blows a cure spell his way.

You should speak with KC. I think he was working with some of the others on strategies. I am very sorry to hear about the kittens and the lemmings. If there's anything I can do to help let me know.

"No, it's fine. It hardly matters if we're being spied upon, because I can honestly think of few ways that that could make this situation any worse."

/\ Frogskin's wounds mostly vanish, though his eye remains shut. "Thanks. And yes, I will talk to KC. I need to get to the Place of the
Winds first. Unfortunately, the leader is missing, so..." *shrug* "I'm not sure."

Unless pressed to stay for some reason, Nirellia has left the others to talk without her by this point.

I apologize for making you uncomfortable. It seems to be a hazard of the job, I guess. Please forgive any rudeness on my part, and do enjoy your stay.
