Yes, but the evil monkey enjoyed attending Club Calistria, and what's been done to one of his favourite nightspots could surely rile him up enough to help her if she did turn up there looking for assistance of particular kinds?
He and his squad could be Charlie and his Fallen Angels, or the A- (Abyss)-Team...I pity da foos

It also depends on how you define 'possesed'. Remember that she is the priestess of a deity known for lust, betrayal and revenge. This affront to her temple might just have Calistria taking a much ... closer ... look at the situation?
Oh and by the way, Alaina is now in possesion of the scrying crystal the Eighth Runelord left with Evil Monkey ...

Oooh, do I sense some divine intervention in the heroes future?

Yeah, that's what I thought. Really traumatic events will rarely lead to possession, only tragic friends-having-to-fight-friends things. ;)

Actually the souls are tied to what ever bargin they made with the Jack of Tears. Momus will fulfill what ever bargin that he has made to the very letter of the agreement. The barginer only forfits his soul if that is part of the bargin. An example of this is that Ash did not forfit her soul, only a decade of service.
As for what's up with the kid, that's KCs doing, not mine.

What? Is not!

Well, I did imply with The Giggler that the child's soul stayed behind, kinda in a roundabout way, but I thought it ws appropriate considering the Faustian nature of the Carnival ..
That is fine. I decided to run with it. The child said he would give anything to become a member of the Carnival. The only thing that could prove he was sincere in this wish was his soul.

It was PJ that said that he had done something important. Although DB3 is the one that turned him into a plot point instead of a set piece.

OK, Alaina's calling the Mask out over at the Palace of Skulls. She's pissed. I don't know how you want to handle it KC, but she's going to go full blitzkreig ..
Really? Oh Rio's scrying just paid off! I meant to post he was scrying KC's killer(destroyer?) earlier but I didn't expect Mask to be active so soon. If Mask doesn't fight his scrying detects nothing.

His servant killed KC, called a 'ripple wolf'. But he controls it utterly, so its possible.

Patrick is right Dragonborn. When you get older you'll wish you had the time to get bored. Enjoy your youth and the free time that you have.

The Hammer of Death begins to move towards Alaina, and the Hangman's Tree prepares a summoning. Both are stopped at a gesture from the priestess.
The Tree Emperor has revealed this to our enemies, and they marshall their forces here. Another location will be undefended when they come.
Let us strike there.
HoD looks to be struggling against the command, but before he can succeed all three forms become shadow and fade.
If you meant the oasis, the Eighth Runelord just unleashed a horde of goblin holiday-makers on it. If you want to try to make trouble there, you'll have to take your chances in attempting to go through them first.... ;)

Fine. I'll leave the goblins where they are for now anyway.
After all someone else could still try to make trouble at the oasis, and I really don't think goblins work so well around trees. I can just imagine one of them singing a silly lumberjack song, even if he meant well.
If I had a cool fire-based bad guy to throw at the Oasis I would. sorry.

Be back in the morning, I'm a bit more tired than usual after school today.
Every gamer should rent Undercover Blues with Dennis Quaid and Kathleen Turner. It's a classic PC versus NPC comedy. Spy genre. They're so cocky.

Ah, hadn't seen that, so missed the reference.

Kobold Cleaver:
With regard to the Carnival of Shadows & the Runelord of Uncaring's efforts, can't you find a priest of some LG deity of suffering & martyrdom such as Ilmater from the old edition Forgotten Realms to volunteer to take the boy's place; being tortured for however long it takes before the Carnival of Shadows becomes defunct to rescue the soul of a child might be within the bounds of what some zealots of the religion might be prepared to endure.
