What's the flat-footed AC of a character with a 6 dex?

3.5/d20/OGL

To settle a dispute...

Option 1: It's 8 - same as when the character is aware. No matter how clumsy you are, it doesnt make sense that you get easier to hit once you know you're under attack.

Option 2: It's 10. When caught in a stressful situation you often 'freeze' (think bunnies in headlights) so you're actually harder to hit if you dont know you're in danger.

Thanks in advance...

It'd be 8...

"A flat-footed character loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any)"

So they only lose bonuses, not penalties...

Sovereign Court

You lose your dex bonus to ac when you are flat-footed. You do not lose your dex penalty. Option 1.

By the RAW : option (1)

But I do like the idea of someone so clumsy that they tend to walk into blows and are actually less likely to get hit if they don't move :)

Can a player opt to remain flat-footed by not taking a move (or move equivalent) action?

The rules assume a character is doing everything in his power to avoid being hit.

I suppose you could freeze (stop moving alltogether, giving you a -5 dex penalty to AC).
