Round 1: Haruuc sees the arrow bury itself in Drexel's chest and a small smile escapes from him before his straight face returns.
Hethinks he sees a figure in the mist and fires off a blast of electricity.
Electrical Blast (Ranged Touch Attack). (1d20+4=9)
Round 2: Thinking that he needs to be up close in the mists, he moves towards the figure, drawing his Spiked Chain as he goes and swinging it in front of him towards the figure.
not sure how far away the figure is and so I will make an Attack Roll just in case I can reach him/it with a single move action. If not Haruuc will double move to within 10ft of the Warforged (the Spiked Chain has reach).
Attack Roll. (1d20+5=12) pitiful rolling...
Drexel Morrow
Move Action I order my Wolf Kal' Ashk to flank the warforged that Haruuc is attacking, snickering as I watch his attacks go far off their marks.
Standard Action I then fire on Warforged #2 for mouthing off

Kal' Ashk Attack 1d20+3=13 (+2 for flanking if Haruuc made it to his target)

You're no longer in the mists btw.
My apologies, I meant to get a map posted last night, but I ran out of time...so, they warforged are on top of a slight rise, around 40 feet away, Haruuc can just make it to chain range. Kal-Ashak can make it to the forged. (But Haruuc moves afterwards, since the animal moves on your initiative, which is 2 higher than his.)

Handle Animal:1d20=9+7=16 She understands the command, but to move around the forged to reach the a point she can flank, she has to forgo her attack.

her base move is 50ft she would still have 10ft of movement left once she reached the warforged. Id think that she would beable to get at least to his side or a corner dioganal from Haruuc. But like i said ur call ur DM :)

You want her moving through the warforged's threat area? remember the wolf has a 2 int, not a 15 int...it is NOT a player...it's not even an animal companion...

I will visit each warforged, chopping off their dominent hand and adding them to my growing collection of hands. I will also examine the bows that the warforged carry. do any seem to be of better quality then mine? also are the warforged carrying anything more this time?

"let us not tarry here, there seems to be a battle sight over this rise I'm pretty sure I remember DM saying that some where but I cant find it at the moment, If I am wrong please slap me, perhaps it is the one that we are looking for. The faster we are away from this accursed place the better."
DM Dhakann

Hruskin: You find no magic on these warforged.
Drexel: The composite longbows that these warforged carried are built for strength, just not exceptional.
As you top this small rise, you see in the distance the remains of a massive battle, thousands of soldiers are on the field, you detect the colors of various nations. You see several banners upon the field.

"Keeping detect magic eyes on"...that's one of the problems with the new level 0 spells...I may end up moving detect magic back to first level like it was in old school, or make 0 level spells cost 1 point of non-lethal dmg...would still be able to cast a lot, but not constant, like casting create water all day long...at 2 gallons/level, every 6 seconds...5th level, that would be 60 gallons/minute 3600 gallons in an hour...144000 gallons in an 8 hour day...drought, what's a drought?
Anyway back to the game...
You reach the field of the dead...much of the armor and weapons have been striped from the dead, you will be walking on a field of near naked warriors, where the corpses are still pliant, it's like walking on a pile of sleeping bodies. treat the field as difficult terrain
you begin your search for the battle of Black Rock location, you're looking for the black rock...
After several hours of searching, you finally locate the Black Rock, on another hill, between you lies a valley, you also note a red banner with a Dhakhaani banner hanging from it...

yea but he would have to cast every 6 seconds for 24 hrs, i imaging after a while fatigue or dry throat would set in causeing some sort of spell failure chance due to messed up hand gestures and/or miss spoken words. the rules for DnD are ment to be interpreted, if a situation occures that you find unbelieveable then its your job as DM to nix it.
For example with detect magic you could say that the entire mournland detects slightly of magic (using the rules for lasting auras) and that it is throwing off his ability to detect any magic unless he is witin 5 ft. or so of the object in question.

anyone else taking the bows? they're all composite longbows. Or are you going to let them sit and wait for the scavenger teams to find them?
As you approach the Dhakhaani banner, you see it is still grasped by a hobgoblin in full armor, you continue to look around and see that others in this area have fallen since the day of mourning, 2 warforged, 3 humans, a dwarf and half-orc all lie in full gear...as you wonder what killed them, you noticed the banner bearer is looking at you Haruuc...you feel a cold chill race down your spine...
In a ragged voice, the banner bearer speaks..."Finally, I knew the day would come when my brothers would arrive, and I may finally rest..."
Hruskin: You realize this hobgoblin is undead, though it looks as fresh as the day it died, no life flows in it body.
DM Dhakann

"Of course not!, I am dead, I died on the day of mourning, but I have protected this banner and this blade for hundreds of days...Now that my brothers have returned, I can rest...I tied my soul to this spot so I might pass these items of power on to Dhakaani, and not let them fall into the hands of the unworthy"
"Tell me...the dirgesinger Kaeka-ko, did she survive the day of mourning?"

"If you mean Kaega'ko, then yes she survived. She was the one who sent us into this accursed land so that we may retrieve the objects that you hold. If you would, we will take them off your hands now so that you may pass on to the after life."
I will approach the undead Hob, showing no fear, I wish the group to know how a true leader reacts to a situation. With one hand out for the dagger, the other resting casually on my shortsword incase the creature tries anything funny. As I approach I look at the fresh corpses around the undead hobs feet.
"would you mind terably much if we took anything useful off the thieves that you have slain?"

heh that was a typo
"I, Kaego Dhakaan, defended the Dhakaani treasures with my very soul...but the twin blade of this one was taken, I slew the other offender and recovered the blade, but it's twin was gone before I could kill them all. This blade must be recovered, but you will need magic to locate it, for I know not where it has gone, only that a human bearing a mark of the dragon took it. Its name is Tresh(deception), this blades name is Ghaergk (vicious)." As the hobgoblin draws the blade, the sunlight reflecting off its mirrored surface like a mirror. "This banner will protect your glorious group, steeling your nerves against the most fearsome creatures."
"Please, tell Kaega-ko that her father did his duty to the clan"
"The spoils of these soldiers are yours to take...I have no need for them..." The hobgoblin states...
"Tell me your names, so I might hear of the glory of Dhakaan once more...before I leave this plane."
the spoils of these soldiers will be the treasure for the last few encounters, that haven't had much loot
I will post the loot list later tonight most likely.
End of chapter 1. 1500xp award to all. (like I said, fast XP system, since PbP games go kinda slow anyway) This will level the entire group.

We I wave my hand in the general direction of the rest of the group will bare your message to your daughter with utmost haste, along with news of the missing blade that we must track down. We thank you for all that you have done your memory will be carried with honor throughout Dhakann History."
I then turn from the unnatural being and begin shuffleing through the gear on the slain thieves, taking it off them and throwing it into piles.
when i look through the gear I will pay special attention to The Kukri "vicious", the magic standard, the Magic Quiver, Targath dagger, Magic Pouch, leafweave armor, and the short swords from the warforged to see if any are better then the short swords i currently have.
just because I am looking at all that doesnt mean I'm going to take it all, im just interested in what its function is.
"We can worry about splitting the money and loot once we leave this place. lets split the weight amongst ourselves and head out"
also if no one else picked up the other +2str composite longbows earlier I would have grabbed them too, no sense in leaveing them to rot in the mournland when we can sell them.
Haruuc Dhakaan
Sorry about missing that last piece, I got rushed to hospital on Tuesday afternoon and have been pretty much laid up since. I have occasional bouts of non-lethargy and have been trying to post when they occur, but keeping up has been a real chore.
Haruuc walks up to the Hobgoblin and bashes his fist against his chest.
"I am Haruuc Dhakaan. I shall tell the honourable Kaega'ko of your valour in keeping the Sacred Banner of our people safe."
he bows deeply before the figure and steps back.
On the matter of Loot, he is interested in:
Human 1:
Magic Quiver (Check it out to see what it is about. If it's an Efficient Quiver then he might be interested in it for storing his Spiked Chain and Heavy Flail. Obviously if one of the actual Archers wants it then it's theirs.)
Human 3:
Magic Pouch
3 Scrolls
Spell Component Pouch
Halfling
Small Mithril Chain Shirt (grrr... damn small armour)
4 Dragonshards (30gp each)
MW Thieves Tools
He is now updated to Level 3
Hruskin Gelddar
I'd be interested in the following:
Small Mithral Chain Shirt (I can wear it!)
targath dagged (mainly just to study it, then someone else is welcome to it)
Magic Pouch (just to identify)
magic quiver (just to identify)
That's all for me!
Appraise checks on the pouch first, then quiver: 1d20+7=8, 1d20+7=26
No good on the pouch, but I can probably identify the quiver!
Drexel Morrow
After noticing that Hruskin Dove straight into the loot, I turn and apologize to Kaego.
"This one is Hruskin Gelddar, He is a Cleric of Onatar, He seems to be a little uneasy around undead and more then a little enthused about magic items. I apologize for his disrespect towards you."
And I will take a look at the spell book since Haruuc doesnt seem interested in it, just to see if it is a normal spell book.
I will probably update to lv 3 at some point this afternoon, I am wrestling between going another lv of Ranger or a Lv of Fighter. No appraise on the Targath Dagger Hruskin?
DM Dhakann

I'd be interested in the following:
** spoiler omitted **Appraise checks on the pouch first, then quiver: 1d20+7=8, 1d20+7=26
No good on the pouch, but I can probably identify the quiver!
The quiver is indeed an efficient quiver
Correct targath is a special material, the dagger itself is not even Masterwork, just made of targath.
During your inspection of the pouch you do notice it's empty, but weighs more than it should...you take a battered gauntlet, drop it in...and the pouch weighs the same, you look inside and it's not there...bravely you reach inside for it and it appears again in your hand.
Hruskin Gelddar
"It's an efficient quiver! I've heard of these, seems like a useful thing for archer types. And this here, I can't be sure, but it seems to be a bag o' holdin'. I s'pose whoever carries the spoils ought to carry this?"
Can I use craft weaponsmithing to know something about targath?
