Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1

Brows furrowed over not being able to find anything to release the blockage, Haruuc follows Brignat, Chain wrapped around his arm so as not to make any noise, but ready to be unfurled at a moment's notice.

The Exchange

Brignat wrote:

"Let us move forward and see what we can at the intersection."

At that, Brignat begins to creep forward with an arrow notched in his bow.
I'm not going to take any of the armor. Given my character's background it would be like looting a respected elder to him.

But leaving a relic for anyone to find would be better?

We can always come back for them...

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

I fully intend to remove the corpses outside to bury them once we find a way out. the only reason I haven't done so already is b/c the door shut on us. I know it puts me at a disadvantage but I can't see my character grave robbing a fellow soldier. If I was Lawful Evil, then I could make some rational of it but I feel that as a Lawful Nuetral character that the code would stand a little better. While I will obey pretty much any order, I respect my fellow soldiers even after death. Plus, the armor isn't spiked and that is kind of a part of the strategy of my character.

Awesome, awesome, good role playing awareness lol. So we are moving down the hall as a group making spot checks to see if we find any catches, latches, levers, etc. to open the door

Sounds like a plan. For some Gods unknown reason I felt it necessary to give Haruuc no Perception :/ so I think it best if Drexel does the searching and Haruuc does the (hopefully) disabling...

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

Hahah, I got a weird sense of Deja vu reading that. I think that you made that discovery before, but I dont feel like looking back through all the posts to find out.

CoCo seems to be down right now, I attempted it 3 times with no luck, so I resorted to normal dice

16+7 = 23 percep to find a release.

The Exchange

You cautiously proceed down the hall, you reach the point at the end of the hall where it branches around a wall, it appears it possibly rejoins beyond or it might split into two separate hallways. You cautiously tap the floor, revealing a hollow depression beneath, a pit trap right at the intersection of the hallway.

A high pitched moan echoes through the hallway, you can't tell where it's coming from, possibly all around.

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

Brignat steps out of the way to allow Haruuc to get to the trap. Keeping his bow trained down the hallways, he looks for the sign of the moan.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1

Haruuc looks hesitantly down the passage before seeing that Brignat is watching for signs of trouble. He kneels and sets down his Chain to work on trying to disable the trap.

Disable Device Check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

The Exchange

Haruuc spends a moment studying the trap and believes he has disabled it.

DM only:

Spoiler:
Secret die roll for trap disable 1d20 ⇒ 1

Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1

Haruuc picks up his chain and turns to the others. "That should do it. Now let's see what all that noise is about."
He taps Brignat on the shoulder and motions him forward, not bothering to wait for Drexel.

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

Drexel, pauses where he is and frowns as he watches Haruuc ignore him and start to walk away with Brignat. "I am going to have to teach him his place and soon" he whispers under his breath...

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

Brignat moves forward continuing to keep an eye out for whatever made that noise.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

The Exchange

Are you travelling to the left or right side of the split?

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

I forgot the path split, I will let them choose since I am hanging back. Besides last time I navigated through a maze of rooms with you as DM I went straight from the beginning to the end with no side trips, Haha lets see if we can get some exploring done this time.

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

Left is 1. Right is 2. 1d2 ⇒ 1

The Exchange

You round the corner, the passageway continues another 50 to 60 feet, elaborate carving cover the walls in this section, the scene of a Valenar elf fighting hundreds of hobgoblins. You smell something in this area, no longer do you sense a musty tome, but the scent of wild flowers and blood. The floor is a polished red marble, and as you rounded the corner, small globes of light activate in the ceiling illuminating the passage. An elaborate darkwood door is inset at the end of the passage.

Drexel:

Spoiler:
Better descriptions? I've been trying to work on them.

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

Nodding at the door, "Haruuc, if you would please."

Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1

Haruuc walks up to the door and runs his hands over it, checking to see if there are any Traps present.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

Spoiler:
yea I think your descriptions are doing a lot better, I am enjoying them anyway

I stand few feet away from the other two looking back down the way we came making sure that nothing is going to surprise us by coming around the corner that we did not check out.

The Exchange

Haruuc:

Spoiler:
You walk without fear or caution down the hall, you suddenly feel your foot sink slightly into the ground and the whoosh of darts being fired.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 1d4 ⇒ 2
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28 1d4 ⇒ 3
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 1d4 ⇒ 3
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 1d4 ⇒ 2

The Exchange

Gah! Sorry... I usually scroll down the PbP section and look for new Posts next to my "dotted" games. It didn't tell me that there were any new posts since my last visit. :/

Cursing himself again, Haruuc dives forward in an attempt to evade whatever it was he set off, but still gets hit by some darts as they shoot at him from their hidden recesses.
He comes to his feet and crouches down to look more closely at the floor where he just stepped, hoping to find the pressure plate so he can disarm it.

Perception Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

I see the movement of Haruuc out of the corner of my eye and turn my head in time to see him become a pin cusion. I laugh and say "Better you then me Friend"

The Exchange

Drexel/Brignat:

Spoiler:
You hear a shuffling coming from back down the passageway.

Haruuc

Spoiler:
You examine the area for the plates, but can't quite figure out where they are, they are definitely cleverly concealed, given enough time you're sure you could find them, perhaps the wrong way though.

Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1

Haruuc glares daggers up at Drexel, but the damage is done and his concentration is ruined. He can't find the pressure plates thanks to Drexel's needling.

;)

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

I quickly get serious and sharply whisper "To arms friends! there is movement coming from down the hall. let us move back behind these cleverly concealed traps to see if perhaps they can slow down the enemy a bit"

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

Brignat nods to Drexel and takes up position with his bow ready.

CotCT GameMaestro

Drexel/Brignat you moving to Haruuc then? Past the dart trap?

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

I imagine that would be the case. I will skirt the wall to attempt to miss whatever trap Huracc set off since he appeared to set it off by walking down the middle of the hall.

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

yes

The Exchange

nice...

Spoiler:

Trigger how many pressure plates?

Brignat: 1d4 ⇒ 2
DARTS:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
DMG: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Drexel: 1d4 ⇒ 3
DARTS: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

As Drexel and Brignat move across the trapped area, Brignat is struck solidly in the neck by one dart after narrowly avoiding another. Drexel has 3 darts impact him square in the chest. But the adamantine breastplate destroys teh darts before they can penetrate the black metal.

apparently our ancestors knew how to make some good armor, maybe you should equip some to Haruuc?

Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1

Haruuc lets a low grow escape his throat at Drexel's words. His hands tighten around his Chain, but he tries to channel the anger into attacking whatever is coming at them down the corridor.

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

"Honor kills in more ways than one Drexel." At that, Brignat readies his bow.

The Exchange

As you gather into your defensive formation, you see the form of Hruskin come from around the corner, his eyes glow bright green. You notice he's wearing one of the breastplates now. As he completes gesturing and a ray of fire leaps from his firetip.

Mechanics:

Spoiler:
who? alphabetical BDH1d3 ⇒ 3ranged touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 dmg1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

The ray of fire leaps toward Haruuc, who dodges the flame only just as the heat from the ray curls the fur on his face.

"Huh Huh Huh"
"Huh Huh Huh" Three voices were laughing in unison escape Hruskin's lips.
"Huh Huh Huh"

"You shall pay for invading the resting place of the Valenar" in goblin
"You shall pay for invading the resting place of the Valenar" in elven
"You shall pay for invading the resting place of the Valenar" in draconic

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

Well, at least I understand 2 of the 3 voices. Too bad my arcane hunter class ability doesn't apply to clerics....

"We'll... I must say I wasn't expecting this... I was hoping for another charging attack. Good thing that clerics are somewhat lacking in the damaging attacks, no?"

The Exchange

Initiative: Drexel, Brignat, Haruuc, Hruskin

Spoiler:

H 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
B 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
D 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Hr 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

And Drexel is up after the surprise round in which Zombie Hruskin went.

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

Brignat fires a shot into his once companion and then moves to place himself between his the abomination and his comrads.
stand: fire longbow
move: move to intercept while staying out of trap area.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 181d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

The Exchange

Brignat wrote:

1d20+8; 1d8+3

[Brignat] As you don't know where the trap triggers are and you moved over the traps, there's no way to intercept Zom'Hruskin without traveling back over the traps.

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

Not sure if that means that I am supposed to be going in the surprise round AND the regular round or not?

I will sheath my short swords and pull out my bow remaining where I am on the far side of the traps

Male Hobgoblin Fighter 1 Air Element Sorcerer 1 Rogue 1

Haruuc lets out a low growl as the flame licks past his face. He raises his hand and a spark of elctricity jump towards their shambling former teammate.

Electrical Blast (Ranged Touch Attack): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

The Exchange

Drexel sheathes his blades and pulls and his bow, dropping into an archer's stance as he nocks an arrow, Brignat snaps off a shot, the shot flies true, the arrow hitting the breastplate, shattering the arrow which causes a spray of splinters to erupt into Hruskin's face, one shard pierces his eye, Hruskin is already moving back behind the wall as Harruc's electrical blast scorches the engravings on the wall.

"Ja'ash Vahl! Fesh ti'kell Valenar."

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

"Anyone know what that pointy eared abomination said?!?"
If still visible, fire another shot. If not visible, then await confirmation on translation before acting.
Longbow:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 161d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

Something about the Valinar

The Exchange

Anyone have ancient Elvish? heh.

You wait a few seconds and he doesn't reappear.

Male Hobgoblin Ftr 4

Brignat stands ready.
ready action to fire arrow or stab with spikes if he shows himself.

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

so he went back toward the closed entrance that we came from correct?
