Index threads, sticky and editing?

I know about the 1-hour limit to editing (learned this much to my chagrin), and the pros and cons of this reason are well documented at this point. The assumption here is that the stance on editing posts board wide is not changing.

However...

I'm trying to figure out a nice, clean way to have an index thread to hold fan-made content and dev/editor clarifications. It's all Paizo's fault for being so dang awesome and active on the board!

James Jacobs and the rest of the writers/devs/users have made some fantastic clairifcations, suggestions & updates which are not official errata (though some of it should be) and don't have a centeral place to be found. They are buried like diamonds in the rough. The only two ways of finding them are reading every thread from start to finish and a very weak search engine.

The solution (which has been tried by a few others already) is to make an index list or GM reference page. However, without editing posts, this is a really messy prospect - one would have to keep posting updates as a new reply, which get lost amidst random link requests, "this is awesome! Thanks!" posts, and "any updates??" bumps.

SO, my suggestion is two-fold. First, make serious index threads sticky. Second, make sticky threads editable by the author only (their posts only) Anyone else who posts in that thread, the 1-hour limit applies as usual, Paizo employees not-withstanding.

The main issue i see with your suggestion, is that each adventure psth would have 6 sticky threads, and chronicles/companion/modules would have MANY sticky threads

One thread for each website section would be sufficient. Adventure paths could either have all of the adventures detailed in one post on the thread, or their own posts all in one thread (hence the editing).

The chronicles would have one thread as well, with each adventure being it's own post within that thread.

Individual threads for each product could exist as a mustering ground for all material like they do now and then, when someone (I don't know who or when) decides that it's time, all that can be compiled into a single post like you mention. There is a similar request for this type of index over on the wiki right now too and the issues you raise are the reasons given for not just linking back to the paizo thread on a given topic. A solution here on this end would be beneficial to both projects, I think.

I know... I'm acetaminophen. In trying to hammer out the best solution for the end result, I figured a two-pronged approach might be best.

I think the result of having this great information indexed in a way that is clear, concise, updatable by the user base, and easy to find is a great boon to everyone involved. Just got to figure out how best get that. :)
