Tvaliss Aetherian
Tvaliss looks on with a look of disdain as the drunks start to get out of control. Foolish humans... Keeping an eye on the situation, he slips his hand into a pouch as he prepares to mutter off a spell that should take care of these drunks if they do anything more than make a lot of noise.
Preparing to cast Sleep (DC 15)on the drunkards if they happen to become violent.
Violant Aurori
Violant continues smiling and gladhandling the patrons, trying to keep the disturbance far from their minds, but remains within close range of the disruptive parties, ready to lend a Command or Cause Fear spell to the cause, if Charsis' attempt at 'diplomacy' fails to avert violence.
Holding action, will draw a dagger as a move action and cast Cause Fear on one of the thugs within attack of opportunity range of Zee and / or Charsis if they take hostile action.

Zee makes her way over to the group about to cause a big disturbance in the gambling hall. She tries not to seem concerned as she heads over behind the thugs loosening her weapon to be ready for anything. The leader seems to back down as he listens to Charsis speak but is encouraged by his friends as one of them puts his hand on his shoulder. NO! We want are gold back NOW! And since you won't we'll just have to take it from you! He draws his arm back and his hand forms into a fist....
Tvaliss looks on with disdain at the humans causing problems. He ignores the call for drinks as he sees the leader getting ready to punch Charsis, his hand creeps into his pouch ready to begin to cast one of his spells. Vee moves within range of the stand off waiting to see if Charsis can handle it peacefully or not and by the look of it a fight it is......
Ok need the rest of the init rolls and actions!

Initiative. (1d20+8=25)
Charsis grins and shakes his head as he sees the leader ball his fist for a punch. He slowly raises his hand to intercept the punch and attempts to grab the man's fist as it comes at him, stopping it in mid swing and holding it in the air. He slowly tightens his hold on the man's fist, crushing it in his viselike grip. He smiles at the rest of the toughs as if daring any of them to interfere.
Attack Roll. (1d20+4=24) YES!!! Finally Invisible Castle throws me a bone! =D
Still trying to end this without a fight, but if any of the others attack then 'It's On Like Donkey Kong!'
Violant Aurori
Violant steps to position herself such that the thugs are between her and the door and targets someone other than the leader, whom Charsis has already grappled (preferably someone within attack of opportunity range of both Charsis and Zarenrae, but at least Zarenrae), and Commands him to 'Flee this place!' with an imperious pose and gesture.
DC 15 Will save. Command 'flee.'

The thug's arm flies foward at Charsis aiming for his head, Charsis calmly reacts reaching up and catching the mans' fist in his own and begins to squeeze causing visable pain on his face as he tries to pull his arm back from Charsis whose smile grows bigger. Off to the side Vee quickly draws a dagger as she calls forth help from her divine who grants her request as the man she was focusing on suddenly begins to shake at the site of Charsis's smile and his leaders helplessness at the mercy of the big man. Then the man bolts for the door having had enough of this situation. As the man tries to run out of the gambling hall Zee's acts, her chains lash out striking the man in the head and dropping him to the ground instantly. Behind the bar Tvaliss's arms move in quick patterns, whispers of elven can be heard and a flurry of rose petals float around the bar counter, a few floating down into a patrons drink. The leader and the two thugs face off with Charsis getting ready to fight back when one of the thug slips to the ground, curls up and starts snoring loudly. The leader seeing two of his friends hit the ground and only one for back up tries to regain control of the situation but a shout from Vee "Leave this Place" at them changes things as his last friend turns immediately and dashes out of the hall. The leader faces back to Charsis, You know, this has all been a very bad mistake on my part, please forgive me, the suds got to my head is all... He tries to pull off a smile through gritted teeth.....
Boy these guys will saves sucked booty! The thug fleeing under Vee's frightful words only made it to the doorway of the Goblin!
Violant Aurori
Violant sheathes her dagger with a flourish as the rowdies are routed, and turns to smile at a patron who is watching the scene instead of his hand. "Ooh, better keep an eye on those cards, hun. Wouldn't want to get distracted from your game!" She leans in conspiratorially and says loudly enough for everyone at the table to hear, "Don't tell anyone I said so, but I've heard there may be an unsavory element in Riddleport." she says with a mock look of disbelief. "Keep your cards close." she adds with a wink.
She briskly returns to glad-handling the patrons, making it seem as if nothing untoward had just occured.
Charsis Wyrmscale
Charsis grins at the man and at the timely manner that the event managed to clear itself up, greatly impressed by the solid nature of his new associates.
He lets go of the man's outstretched fist, pushing him back and saying, "begone with you then. Take your friends with you and don't come back."
He returns Zaranae's wink with one of his own and gives her a smile in return that is full of promise of how he will return her assistance later on that night.

With the quick actions of the group, the battle or should do we say altercation is over. It happened so fast none of the guests had time to be scared or worried especially with everyone treating the incident so nonchalant. The rest of the day goes by without any problems arising along with the grand opening day and the next few days. Almost a week has gone by and the Goblin has been doing a fair business which makes Saul happy of course. He gathers you together and gives you much deserved praise.
Later the same day as the gambling hall is in full swing, Saul asks you to follow him. He takes you to the second level and through a secret door out onto catwalks above the gaming hall. Narrow, swaying railed catwalks suspended by chains hooked to the ceiling 10 feet above. Immediately below them is a layer of gauzy curtains serving as the false ceiling to the gambling hall allowing you all to view the entire room and see each table of games. Saul points down a one particular man, a bulky man with short hair playing at one of the Golem tables. Most of the customers below give the man wide birth and keep one eye on him at the same time. The croupier by his actions is extremely nervious with the man at his table. Saul breaks the silence, That my friends is none other than Clegg Zincher, one of Riddleport's crimelords and one of my greatest competitors. Clegg is not a known gambler, so he must be here either to send a message to me or for some other reason. Keep an eye on him, I don't want any trouble from him or you at this time. Just leave him alone for now but try and figure out what he is doing here quickly and quietly! He says the last as he bids you to get back the work. He stays on the catwalks, eyes never leaving his rival.
Go ahead and make you rolls for the Goblin's weekly profit. Just a reminder of what rolls you need to make: Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Perform, Profession or Perception! Good Luck!

Intimidate Check. (1d20+3=10) *sigh* There go Charsis' dreams of living the high life...
Charsis nods to Saul and heads back down to the floor. He wanders the crowd, making sure that everyone is behaving themselves, while trying to keep an eye on Clegg Zincher and what he's doing. Unfortunately, heis view keeps getting interrupted by the busy floor and the Goblin's Patrons.
Perception Check. (1d20=11)
Violant Aurori
Violant's amazing run of schmoozing just after the falling stones from the sky seems to have broken, and she instead manages to waste the week covering up for her own inadvertant gaffes or social flubs, rather than making the customers feel welcome.
By the end of the week, she's downright cranky.
Tvaliss Aetherian
Pavo's sharp eyes take in the Gambling floor during his break from the bar, wary for any tricks patrons might pull or treachery that Clegg might try.

The gambling continues in the hall as normal, the only thing out of place of course is Zincher who is not know as a gambler himself! Keeping an eye on him proves easy enough as he wanders between the tables watching the games not even trying to hide his presence. From the bar Tvaliss notices Zincher casually look over by the door leading into the kitchen every so often, it's so faint Tvaless barely picks up the quick scan by Zincher. Vee does not notice anything out of the ordinary happening in the room but does pick up Tvaliss carefully watching Zincher through narrowed eyes like something is up having stopped pouring drinks for waiting guests. She continues to act normal schmoozing with the guest, bringing drinks, exchanging coins to chips, or whatever the needs of the guests. Charsis by the door has a handle on things, his eyes wander the room, then to Zee, then the door, then back to Zee and then the room again. Everthing to him seems to be going smoothly even though one of Saul's enemies is circulating around the Goblin. The only thing Charsis notices about Zincher is he is not playing any games, just walking the room. He stands ready in case something is up but its hard to tell, maybe he's just scoping out the place for further trouble. Looking outside no one seems to be lurking or out of place as Zincher's back-up or some such. Zee's post today is by the cashier's cage where a couple of thug types are getting chips to play. Her focus is on them at the moment after the trouble earlier with Riddleport thugs. They seem to be on the up and up so far but she keeps an eye on them anyway.........Outside the cries of seagulls can be heard over the din of the gambling hall and its not just a few, it sounds like every seagull in Riddleport has taken up the cry......
Zaranae Rivendale
Intimidate 1d20+7=17 Zee struts around, an aura of command radiating from her.
She raises an eyebrow at the sounds coming from outside and looks to Charsis to see if he or any of the others have noticed the noise.
Violant Aurori
Has anyone other than Zee heard the gulls outside? If so, Violant will peek outside to see if this is another of those strange 'rocks fall from the sky, people need healing' type situations, although she's wary of opening the door too far and allowing a flock of psychotic birds into the room, as that would be just about par for the course, this week!

The noise outside is so great from the gulls that it makes everyone take pause....
Tvaliss Aetherian
Not one to ignore a hunch, Tvaliss decides to see why Zincher seems so interested in the kitchen. Excusing himself from the counter for a moment, he calls to a bouncer to keep an eye on things, saying he wants to check the wine cellar to restock some wine. With that, he leaves the counter and heads towards the kitchen to check on things there, bringing a spell to mind, in case Saul's old enemy was springing a trap.
Charsis Wyrmscale
His ears ringing from the din outside, Charsis sticks his head out the door to see what in the hells is going on with those damnable birds. As far as he's concerned, birds are only good for one thing and that's being shoved down his throat after being roasted in their own juices.
He notices both Zaranae and Violant have also taken note of the disturbance and raises an eyebrow in query once he catches Zee's attention.

Tvaliss heads in the direction of Clegg Zincher who peaks into the kitchen but just as quick turns at the noise from outside and heads for the door where everyone is gathering. He brushes past Charsis and heads outside with a sly smile on his face. As soon as he reaches the bottom step and is no longer under the cover of the Goblin's awning his smile changes to one of rage as his gets splattered by gull droppings as hundreds of gull are in flight all at the sametime. They seem to be heading for the Cyphergate, the few who have reached it fly right into it at full speed followed by the rest. Everyone comments they have never seen the like, or cry birds someone shouts. People just stand there in wonder at the display but some are more amused by the gulls dropping ladened Zincher who is storming off quickly. Saul off to the side cackles with glee at the sight. Zee, Vee and Charsis take all of this in from where they stand. Tvaliss however stands behind a large crowd gathered by the entrance as he was trying to follow Zincher but got cut off. A noise behind him stops him from trying to push though the crowd, behind him a shout from the kitchen hits his ears. He is the only one to take notice though as the gulls symphony captures everyone else attention.......
Tvaliss Aetherian
Filing away this strange sight to add to his notes later, Tvaliss turns and makes his way over to the kitchen, to see what little surprise Zincher seemed so happy about before he had turned to leave. As he approaches the kitchen door, he prepares a spell in case the surprise is a dangerous one.
Violant Aurori
Seeing the gulls smash into the stone arch, Violant's hand flies to her mouth and she gasps, "Oh, that's horrible! Those too-curious cyphermages and their meddling, no doubt..."
Seeing nothing she can do about the situation, and wishing to see no more of this senseless massacre, she turns back from the doorway and returns to work.
Violant Aurori
I'll be away from computer for about four days, although I'll try to sneak on at some point. Please feel free to run Violant as an NPC if necessary during that time. Her preferred tactics seem to include running foolishly into dangerous situations to heal people, and using Command and Cause Fear spells liberally. :)

Saul takes a peek outside, then says, It's just a bunch of dumb birds people lets get back to the fun inside! Staff back to work please, we need to take care of our guest now, come on, chop chop. He heads back in and heads for the counting room to check on the coins made today. Tvaliss peeks into the kitchen and sees the cooks watching a man exit the building through the back door. All seem a bit shocked by the brazen violation of their kitchen by an unknown man. One of the cooks spots Tvaliss and says [b]He came out of the Scullery, its probably one of Zincher's Capp's!
Zee, Vee and Charsis head back to work. Charsis notices a young half-elf female enter the Goblin. Her wavy red hair flows behind her as she passes you by the door. She gives you a wink from her beautiful face with a few Varisian tattoos on her cheek, forhead and neck. Her beauty, clean attire and demeanor set her apart from all the rest of the guest of the Goblin. She stops and glaces around checking the place out.
Zee sees Charsis's eyes linger on the female half elf standing at the entrance checking the place out while Vee is already back to work serving drinks and good cheer to the patrons of the Goblin.
Charsis Wyrmscale
Charsis notices the attractive Half-Elf and he nods and smiles at her when she smiles at him. Seeing her looking around as if lost, he walks over and introduces himself, asking if he can help her.
Diplomacy Check. (1d20+3=13)
Violant Aurori
Violant is suffering a bit of an existential crisis. She's been raised alternately on the streets and in a house of ill repute (one that's also a temple, but still, a whorehouse by any other name...), and come to think of herself as a pretty tough bit of hardtack. But out here in the big, bad world, it seems that she's not quite so hard as she had thought, and she fears that her sentimental streak is going to get her into trouble. Bad enough to go running out into a shower of stones falling from the sky, but now to get all worked up over some gulls, which she's regarded as flying rats all of her life?
The preferred 'meditation' of her faith is a rowdy and raucous affair, and she's beginning to feel the need to surround herself with a little mayhem, so that she can feel stable in that safest place of all, the eye of the maelstrom, where the winds gust and blow around her, but touch her not at all.
Or perhaps the callousness she's affected so long has worn out it's usefulness, a thought that scares her quite a bit more...
Distracted by such thoughts, which have plagued her all week, she's blissfully unaware of the stunning redheads presence, as she, having aped a Varisian sense of style for so long, would find the arrival of a beautiful woman with Varisian tattoos on her skin to be an unwelcome thing.

The tall Half-Elf stands at the top of the steps checking out the place when she hears behind her one of the bouncers approach her and ask if she needs any help! She smiles, Its nice to meet you Charsis, my name is Samaritha Beldusk! I just arrived here in Riddleport and my plans have fallen through so now I am looking for work. Do you think there is any work for me here? Her eyes flash a little as she asks the next question, Do you think you could help? Maybe put a good word in for me, I really need a job right now I don't have much coin left! Zee keeps busy through her amusement at Charsis's attention to fine looking women. She keeps an eye on him but only briefly, her main focus is her job. Larur casually walks behind Zee and on his toes whispers into her ear to keep an eye on that table over there, I think one of them is cheating He moves on quickly as not to draw attention to himself...Vee on the other hand is very distracted, going through her job with little focus but luckly for her the guest aren't paying much attention to her anyway, they are here to win coins and have fun. Vee goes through the routine of working with ease as its easy for her to take care of the folks gathered. She and the other do not notice that Tvaliss is no where to be seen in the main room or behind the bar where his station for the night is. Tvaliss is fully in the kitchen now listening to the cooks tell what they know of the man as he eyes the room for danger.....
For Clifford:
For Berggren:
Berggren Galt
Berggren travelled far already today after a bright and early start. The filth of the road still on his face and in his clothes, he must look like hell. This place is as bad as I remember. When the ranger sees the two men coming out of the alley, he manouvers just so that he comes in the way of them. Through apparent clumsiness he wants them to run into him so he can make a lot of ruckus. That should get the attention of that bouncer. And it will give me a few bargaining chips with these pirates.
Zoomackulas Eichendar
|
The crime lord and his capp are way ahead of Berggren so it takes some effort to get into position to attempt his idea. The event goes with out a hitch as you pretend to be looking the other way and slam into the Crime Lord who is much bigger than you. Berggren falls to the ground with a flourush hoping the "accident" will cause some attention which it does, You clumsy oaf, watch where you are going or you will get a kiss from my Snickersnak if it happens again! I better not see you again, EVER! The Crime Lord continues on with his Capp in tow, turning the corner of the street and out of site. Berggren sits there looking at the Goblin but no one saw a thing, the bouncer is still busy with that Half-Elf most likely......
For Kewyn
Kewyn Bevan
Kewyn says to the bouncer, " Do you know that dwarf? As she points at the dwarf on his back looking this way intently. He seems to have bumped into Mr. Zilcher and is looking this way like you would be interested. Who here manages talent, I am the best wandering minstrel in this town and would love to play for your customers!"
Berggren Galt
Berggren mumbles an insincere apology to the crime lord. Pah, I should have known a human bouncer would be more interested in charming some girl then pay attention to what actually happens. He gets to his feet and slaps off some of the dust. Well their loss, I guess. The ranger then strides towards the Gold Goblin to search for his fellow Dwarf. A good mug of ale would go down well this parched throat, I reckon.
Zoomackulas Eichendar
|
The bouncer takes no notice of the litte one asking questions as his full focus is on the hot red headed half-elf in front of him. He seems dazed as she waits to here if he can help her or not. Berggren dusts himself off and heads into the Goblin for a drink and hope of finding the dwarf inside to help his cause. He passes the bouncer and half-elf as he enters but also takes notice of a lovely halfling pulling on the pant leg of the bouncer trying to gain his attention. Clifford enters the Goblin behind the dwarf and breathes in the aroma of the gambling hall, his home. The place is hopping, most tables full of players winning and losing their coins. So much to do so little time.....
The game is still going on guys and girls! The three new players need the rest of you to play with them! Please post soon, thanks!
Charsis Wyrmscale
Charsis barely realizes that the Halfling Bard is tugging on his pants. He stops smiling at the red head long enough to point out Violant for her, before returning his attention back to the Half-Elf.
"I'm sure we can find a suitable postition for you here Miss Beldusk, can I call you Samaritha? Such a flowing name, befitting a daughter of the mighty wind."
He leads her into the Goblin and over to Saul, explaining her situation to him and telling him what a valuable asset she will be to the Goblin.
While he is talking to Saul, he spots Zaranae looking his way with a smirk on her face and the smile disappears from his own. He quickly glances between Saul and Samaritha, before excusing himself and returning to the door, glancing sheepishly at Zaranae on his way.
Violant Aurori

Just waiting for them to get inside. :)
"Welcome to the Golden Goblin!" Violant enthuses, at first thinking the new arrivals to be customers, but, upon being told by Charsis that Kewyn is actually a potential employee, she wishes Berggen and Clifford the blessings of the lady of luck and leads the entertainer to a table near the bar.
As she's leading Kewyn away, she says, still in hearing of Berggren and Clifford, "You've arrived at a most fortuitous time, the Goblin is indeed looking for some fresh faces among the staff, after some recent unpleasantness." she smiles, "It never seems to be boring around here, and some louts attempted to rob the place, in the middle of a gambling tournament, no less! Quite foolish, really, as there were no shortage of angry gentlemen quite willing to use violence to retain possession of their winnings..." her smiles fades as she remembers the aftermath of the fray, and she adds quietly as she pulls out a chair for Kewyn at an unoccupied table far enough from the gambling area to be able to talk without being shouted over. "Unfortunately, some of the previous staff found that sort of business a bit more exciting and adventurous than they had hoped for," her smile comes back, "which leaves us in the position to find some new entertainment, perhaps!"
"What sort of entertainment is your specialty, Miss Kewyn?" Violant asks. "I am a dancer, in the Varisian style, and trained in the House of Silken Veils, but as I am currently serving as hostess, I don't have as much time to dance as I would like."
If Berggren or Clifford have tagged along at the talk of employment opportunities, she will pull out chairs for them as well at the 'hiring discussion table,' perhaps assuming that, since they arrived around the same time as Kewyn, that they are her friends...
Zaranae Rivendale
Zaranae shakes her head at Charsis' reaction winking at him when next he makes eye contact. She visually follows the woman as she enters, observing where she goes and her interactions with other patrons.
Scanning the room she notices the unassuming looking halfling moving quite shiftily through the room and vows to keep him in sight.

Kewyn Bevan
Kewyn follows Violant to the table and gladly takes the chair choosing to sit on her knees so as to be able to look over the table.
"Thank you so much for listening to me, I think that big guy barely noticed me. Some times being small is no fun. Varisian Dance is so beautiful, I play the flute and recite poetry and epic tales. I can do almost anything that evolves talking to people, and I really need to work. I grew up on the streets of Magnimar so I am not afraid of adventure or chaos, it wouldn't feel like home here without it. Would you like me to play or recite something?
Tvaliss Aetherian
Looking to the Scullery, Tvaliss says to the kitchen staff, "Run along and fetch the muscular woman, Zaranae is her name I believe. Tell her to come quickly to the Scullery and that I am investigating what is going on." With that, Tvaliss heads for the Scullery, ready to respond to anything that might be found inside.
