Just finished Hangman's Noose

Adventures

I just finished playing through, as a character, Hangman's Noose.

It was fantastic... and yet... I will never be clean again... dear god, I don't think I can drink enough to forget what happened to us in that certain room upstairs... just... unclean...

Nic Logue claims another victim's sanity. The Great Old Ones will be pleased.

This mod was a particular favourite for me.

How was it RPing so many different NPCs? Did it get confusing? How did you keep it clear to the players: accents? props?

I was actually one of the players for the first time in a LONG time (I just finished running this group through SCAP).

The gal who ran it did run the various NPC well, but there was definately some that stood out more than others. She did not use accents or props, though she did have the pictures printed out... but didn't really use them. For the most part she would just say something like "Sir Cole says..." or "Patrissa grabs onto your arm and stays close"

Overall it worked out ok. I think that was her biggest worry with running this module, but it worked out fine.

I printed out the NPC pictures and placed them on the table. Every time someone had gone missing (in another room, out of earshot) I'd remove his picture. When someone spoke, I put my finger on his picture. When someone died, I drew a great big black X over his picture. Worked like a charm. In hindsight, I should have done something similar with the rooms themselves, though. There's just so much information in that scenario that it easily gets overwhelming.

I used props. It worked out very well. I had a big fat "holy" book for the paladin, a string of fake pearls for Patrissa, etc. We used it last Halloween as a one-shot and had a great time.

MUUUUHAHAHAAHHAAH! Glad to hear this one dirtied you, sir! I think this is one of my most particularly creepy mods. I love that its for 1st level PCs, gives it over to that Ole Cthulhu flavor.

Glad you enjoyed it Sean!

i just read it... i hope to put it to my playersnext halloween or similar ocassion

unfortunately they already ebgan a campaign so moving them out of it will probe problematic, also they are higher level (3 and 2), but i can have them investigating the place, if not solving themystery themselves :D
