Well, after our last session we've had some good laugh when our newb managed to make a really awkward wish.
Our party (level 10) ended up by battling a powerful lich who managed to fieball our sorcerer to -20 after failed disintegration attempt. After that he moved away cackling with the key we were to defend. Since we were out of money (well, diamonds) we had to rely on druid's reincarnate once we got back to the camp (three days hauling the scorchered body through the desert). The result was less than satisfying (a kobold), so the sorcerer spent a better part of the day selling all his possessions and most of our loot to get a wish scroll. And what did he wish for? "I want my body to be exactly in the state it was two days ago!"
I think there must be many stories around with wish going awry. Much funnier than this one. So, would you share it?

I once had a Paladin who acquired a wish. Everyone in the group was rewarded with one. I wished that the country I was from would see it's citizen's prosper.
The DM told me I couldn't and that I had to use the wish for something that I wanted.
So to please the DM I wished for a holy sword....never did want the thing through a stupid wish.
So the moral of the story is that as a selfless Paladin who used a wish to help other people, I was denied it only to be told I had to use the wish in a selfish manner to appease the DM. So the biggest reward a paladin could get in the game (as far as magic items in 1st edition were concerned) I got through a wish I didn't even want to use that way.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I had the most amount of fun with a well-worded wish. My druid found herself underwater, facing down a kraken. She was alone, and could not use her...uh..wiles...to seduce the creature. She had a ring of three wishes with one wish left, and stated that she wished the kraken would come to serve her as a valued and trusted vassal until such a time as both she and the kraken were satisfied with the arrangement.
My DM sat there for 5 minutes trying to figure out a way around the wording and finally gave up. It is still considered the greatest wish he has ever encountered, and certainly the best one I ever came up with.

It is definitely the best wish I've ever encountered. And if I remeber correctly I even gave you bonus xp :)

Not my Wish, but my friend's Half-Ogre Favoured Soul had a Wish available to him.
He was away for a session and they had a battle. The person playing his character used his Wish to cast an 8th level spell on a Demon to kill it. Not even a Unique Demon, or even a Regular Named Demon. Just a Nameless Generic Demon.
He got back the next session and was not impressed.
