"Yes, we must keep an eye out. Everything in this gods-forsaken place is suspect. Speaking of which, I should give that altar another look."
I use my perception and religion skills in examining the snake altar up close.

"It might happen - after all, anything strong enough to take over Barshevy's will is hardly going to have a problem overcoming mine." "Happy to oblige," Qadim-sul says with a grin. "Father, if you don't find anything on the altar, I suggest we continue our explorations." He gestures down the tunnel with his sword.

Drivish stands and adjusts his pack. "Would you like to scout ahead, Lafiel? Or are we past any pretense of Stealth?"

"I was sure we're resting now. I'm exhausted and there's no reason to push foward now."
Male Dragonborn Fighter/1
Drivish is at the "I could go one more fight" stage, which normally turns out poorly. If Lafiel, or anybody else, wants to take an extended rest I'm for it too.
I'm for taking an extended rest.
male Half elf wizard 7
Makes sense. We haven't taken an extended rest since after Raivek was slaughtered have we?
Female Human Rogue 2
I'm out of surges by the way, and yes, the last extended rest was at Raivek's death.

Ditto for Qadim-sul. While he would never admit it, he's almost out of surges and would be happy to take an extended rest now too. :)

Sounds like consensus -- mechanics, now? Watches? Fire? (you're all quite soggy, remember).
Female Human Rogue 2
"I'll take second watch."
A fire would be nice, and pretty concealable as well in these tunnels. Is it possible to get back out to the swamp and find some wood there?

As far as I know, there is still a rope hanging into the sinkhole, so yes to the first part. There won't be much dry wood, though, so smoky fire.
Female Human Rogue 2
Rin could use Prestidignation to dry the wood though.
male Half elf wizard 7
Can and will with pleasure. Will also take first watch as he's in reasonably good nick compared to some of the others.

"I'll stay up for first with Rin."

"Sounds good. That'll give me ample time to apologise for frying you before we have to kick Qadim-Sul awake."

"The next time you do what I tell you to do, I won't be so forgiving."
M Human Expert 7
Where exactly are you camping? The sinkhole? The "chapel"? Above-ground?
Well, we've got to take into account a possible zain-kin ambush. The chapel is probably more defensible. But on the other hand they could trap us in here. My opinion is that we should camp in the chapel. It would be difficult to set up in the marsh.
Male Genasi Swordmage 2
Let's do the chapel. There are 2 entrances, making it defensible and giving us a back door out.

After waking up and getting ready for another tiresome day, Lafiel offers: "I could scout down the second tunnel now. Should be easier if we know what we're going in to. If Fargrim or Drivish want to lead though - feel free."

Lafiel quietly makes her way down the tunnel. Sunrod?
Lafiel:
Male Dragonborn Fighter/1
I'll light a sunrod today. And I'll hold it so that Lafiel can have 10 squares of shadowy light.

Drivish Ammasin wrote: I'll light a sunrod today. And I'll hold it so that Lafiel can have 10 squares of shadowy light. The caves twist so much that you'd have to get right up behind her to help her much.
male Half elf wizard 7
"Lafiel - come back. I can put a light on your hand or something that will last a few minutes"
Light cantrip. She'll be able to see a bit with that. Not as good as a sunrod, but easier to hide if she has to.
Female Human Rogue 2
Lafiel walks back to the group, describing the tunnel and the fork in it. "There is a fork with two other caverns. One of them ultimately leads back north, probably back to the swamp, while the other one leads south. I'm not sure, but I think the north one probably ends back in that horrible swamp cave, while the south one is probably the way deeper in this forsaken place. We'll keep going south, right ?"
Read my spoiler for specific information.
If the group agrees, Lafiel will bring everyone to the fork, then sneak into the south tunnel while using Rin's light spell (but hiding it so the light is very dim).

"South it is."
Rin ambles along, enthralled by the strange shadows and the promise of both ancient magic and sudden doom.
Female Human Rogue 2
Lafiel returns again to the group: "Another fork. North or South again. I did hear a distant sound of flowing water to the south."
After saying that, Lafiel leads the group to the next fork, and scouts down the south tunnel.
male Half elf wizard 7
"I wonder what she's found this time."
Rin looks happily expectant.
Male Genasi Swordmage 2
"Death and destruction, no doubt!" Qadim-sul mutters. "Which is what we're here for, after all. I say enough of this sneaking around. If they're scrying on us, it's a lost cause anyways. Who's with me?"
Male Dragonborn Fighter/1
"As far as they've said, nobody has felt the scrying in some time. And I for one, would prefer as much advance knowledge as possible. So, I vote to let Lafiel do her thing."
M Human Expert 7
Lafiel, do you continue to scout if others want to come more noisily with you?
Barshevy:

If anyone insists on coming with her, Lafiel would let him lead.

Qadim-sul:
So who's going scouting? Qadim-sul leading, or letting Lafiel scout?
Male Genasi Swordmage 2
"I'm not sensing any more magical scrying. Either the caves block are blocking it, or they've decided we're not worth the trouble."
By all means, let Lafiel go ahead. Qadim-sul is just bored; he doesn't actually want to go off by himself and scout! :)
Female Human Rogue 2
Lafiel leaves the group at the next fork and takes the path south.
