A new version of "V"

ABC is planning a new version of "V". Personally, I'm not so sure. I enjoyed the original, and it seems that "re-imagined" stories are hit or miss.

Dark Archive

Crap. They can't leave anything alone.

I remember watching the original mini series back in the 80's. "V" was bad, original Battlestar Galactica bad, and the series based of it was even worse. It seems to me that ABC is trying to tap into the "new Battlestar Galactia" fanbase.
ABC could pull it off if they don't limit the writers and producers into making just a 2000's version of the same story. IMO to update the story the writers would have to rewrite the story from a global perspective instead of one based just on L.A., they would have to include the various reactions from the global religions and the hate/fear mongering leaders of the world. Not to mention the cults that would form either for and against them.

But did you like the shows when they were on, and you were eight years old? To me, even thought I don't know what I really saw in them then, that the shows were amongst my favorites as a child counts for a lot. Maybe the ABC remake will be good, maybe not, and maybe a bunch of eight year old kids will love it.

Good point.

I grew up watching V both in this country and Panama (in spanish!), so I look forward to a more up to date version of it. Let's hope we don't get thinly disguised nazis this time.

It was the early 70's when I was 8 and I had the Seals & Kroft kid shows on, (H.R. puffinstuff, Bugaloos, Seymour the Seamonsterand others and those shows are just as fun to watch now for both kids and adults as they were then.

"V" and the original Battlestar Galactica was written for teens, young adults and older and both were just awful then and now. The new Battlestar Galactica is boatloads of awesome and is what the original should have been. I base my rating on that, as a teen, I would rather go out and hang with my friends instead of staying home and watching the shows. If I went out with friends and missed the show it was bad and if I stayed in to watch the show it was good. We're also talking about 80's TV witch is one of the worst decades for TV.

The original vision for "V" was to illustrate how easy it is to trade freedom for fascism. Seems timely to me...

Wait, I'm curious. Your profile says you're 20 years old, which would have made you unborn in 1983 when V came out. So does that mean you're older than 20?
