Jax of Cyre |

Jax makes the best of a bad situation. His heart is racing a million miles a minute, but he makes it down safely.
He makes sure his gear is still good, and then himself.That was the order of importance. Jax could do his job with a broken hand or fractured rib. A broken crossbow wouldn't shoot, and a fractured blade never did anyone much good.
"Holy sh!t, what a ride, that was a first wasn't it Synatria?" He asks, helping the kobold to her feet"Roll Call, sound off people...Who's still alive?" He ask's keeping his eyes open for the others and also for any enemies."Anyone have any damn clue where we're at?" He asks, observing the stars in a fruitless attempt to discern his location.
"To Hell with it, let's get to some cover folks, were a bunch of setting ducks here beside this big @ss flare." He quips, pointing at the burning wreckage. He loads a regular clip into his crossbow and makes for the treeline.

Haedric Korvin |

I suppose I'll take the 20 undead-bane bolts, unless KC wants them.
Haedric comes over. "I'm here. Now, we should be around... here." *Points at map*
Knowledge(Geography), where are we on the drop maps we were given? 1d20+7=27

Garroth Ur'Than |

As soon as Garroth hits the ground, he checks his gear for damage. Finding everything in place and OK, he turns his attention to finding his squad mates.
"Everyone OK?"
Once Haedric shows the team where we are, Garroth says, "Looks like we've got a bit of a walk. And staying around here just waiting for Karrnathi mop-up forces won't do us much good. Point the direction Haedric, and let's head out."

Synatria Silven |

Synatria Silven wrote:Synatria lands. "By the gods...that was close. You all alright?""We are all unharmed, Synatria. Good to see you are as well. We need to move out quickly now. Haedric knows the direction, so we're following where he points us for now."
Synatria nods nervously. "Alright. Which way?

Jax of Cyre |

"Less complaining. More moving. We're not out of this yet," Joyelle says in a brisk tone.
"I suppose last night should have warned me about you..." He says with a smile
" Care to share scout duty with me Reynardine?" he questions, and waits for a reply before moving ahead on foot

Joyelle Reynardine |

She smiles back and nods in answer to his question.

Garroth Ur'Than |

"Assuming things go well, and they never do, how long do you think it will take us to reach our objective?" she asked quietly.
"Depends on how fast we go. If we slow down and try to keep under cover, I'd guess about a day's travel, maybe a little more. Less than a day if we haul butt."
I think a couple of folks are carrying Medium loads, so looks like the max speed is 20'. Based on just doing math (since I didn't see overland movement in the beta and don't have my DMG on me) that means: Just under full speed(-5 Stealth): 40' per round (2 move actions) -> 400' per minute -> 4.5 miles per hour -> about 6.5-7 hours at full speed. If we want to move at half speed to take no penalty to Stealth, that doubles the time to 13-14 hours. Let me know if my assumptions are wrong here.

Perception, Stealth: 1d20+1=5, 1d20+(6)=18
EDIT: +5 to Stealth from cloak

Garroth Ur'Than |

Perception, Stealth: 1d20+1=5, 1d20+1=13
Haedric, don't forget that the Stealth cloaks give a +5 bonus to Stealth checks ...
"I'll right, then we'll take it steady and stay under cover. Jax and Joyelle, we'll let you get out to a few minutes' lead, then follow."
Perception, Stealth (1d20+9=22, 1d20+12=14)
EDIT: actually, didn't think of this before, but if we can, Garroth will instead just Take 10 on both checks. I know it's after a crummy stealth roll, but it does make sense in this situation ...

Keeper of Forbidden Lore |

14-16 hour march is a good guess on time. But not all the land is smooth so it could be more toward 18-20 as your moving though untracked land
As the hours pass, you make your way though the forlorn land that was once northern Cyre. Overgrown and forgotten farms and homesteads sometimes dot the land, fields and yards gone wild can be seen and sometimes traveled though. You see no one tracking you so far but you keep your guard up as traps and ambushes kill many on the front. Four hours into your journey close to an burnout farm your front scouts spot something in an overgrown field.
It seems one of the small sleek Karrnith airships took some damage. A crew of 10 or 12 seem to be working on the ring housing of the ship, it looks burnt and damaged. Must have been to not head back to base, where ever base is. From the looks of the pile of old wood stacked close by they have been salvaging from the old farm to repair the damage Even now four mean walk toward the farm to gather more 2 with crossbows ,and 2 that seem unarmed
Ok, run, hide, fight...whats the plan?

Garroth Ur'Than |

Garroth gets a determined look when he hears the news. "We need to take out that group. If they fix that ship, it'll be back in action against our forces. With the element of surprise, we should be able to take them."
Seeker, can we see a map? That may influence our decision here, too ...

Keeper of Forbidden Lore |

Jax of Cyre |

Jaxon frowns and places a weary hand on Garroth's shoulder"Let's choose our battles wisely. We have a mission, and if we get ourselves killed in a battle where the odds are obviously against us, no one is gonna plant these charges, and no one is gonna take the tower." He say's in a hushed voice, ocassionally glancing over to keep an eye on the Karnnathi Bastards. "I will not fail Cyre again, and I will not do anything to jeopordize this mission." He says dryly, a bit of anger swelling in him"Now let's act like we got some sense. What's the plan? Run or hide?"

Joyelle Reynardine |

"Jax has a point. The mission comes first. But leaving these a$#@#$!s to go back to the air and kill more of our people doesn't sit right with me." Joyelle whispers. Her words would sound passionate if her voice hadn't once more taken on that dead, emotionless tone. "I will abide by your decision in this."

Garroth Ur'Than |

Sorry for not keeping track, but what time of day is it?
Garroth is obviously itching for a fight. "It's only a 3:1 disadvantage. We could hide until nightfall, take out their sentries, and then kill the rest. In the morning, we set fire to the ship and proceed. Simple."
Another question, are the four heading towards us or in a different direction?

Jax of Cyre |

Jaxons eyes narrows. He readies his crossbow and goes to the edge of the house 3 squares left lays on his belly, and takes cover behind boards and debris, practically disapearing to the untrained eye as his crossbow sets ready to fire between mising boards. " So any way we can do this without alerting the rest of those bastards?"

Keeper of Forbidden Lore |

Joyelle Reynardine |

"OK. We need to decide quick. We can fire now, concentrating on the two with crossbows, and get the element of surprise. Or, we hold off and hope they don't see us, possibly missing that opportunity. I say we shoot now."
"Consider it done."
Unless someone stops her, Joyelle will move as quietly as possible to get a clear shot and aim at the crossbowman at the back of the approaching group.
Stealth= 31 (18+13)
To hit = 9 (5+4)
Both I and my character say something that wouldn't pass the messageboard filters. :)

Garroth Ur'Than |

Garroth quickly stands up, and hurls his dagger at the closest man toting a crossbow.
thrown dagger (1d20+3=11, 1d4+3=6)
And probably completely missed. God, I'm starting to hate IC!

Jax of Cyre |

" Send it.." He tells himself as he closes one eye, looking down the sights of his mkII. He pulls the trigger and does his best not to give away his position.
stealth check at a -20 to use stealth as per sniping 1d20-6=14
Wasnt sure if i'd get the extra attack or not while sniping, if not, ignore the 2nd attack. two 20 rolls in that one,I'm starting to love IC =P

Haedric Korvin |

Keeper of Forbidden Lore |

I rolled Haedric 2nd attack and went ahead and made Synatria's
Joyelle snipes at the back bowmen only to miss, Gorrath stands and thews a dagger at the first man with the crossbow but he also misses. Jax snips the first bowman though his left eye and turns his bow on the 2nd taking him in the belly. Synatria and Haedric open fire dropping the last bowman as well as hitting the first man in line.
Both crossbow men are down. End of surprise round guys
Init
Garroth=19
Jax=17
Joyelle=16
Synatria=15
Haedric=15
airmen=11

Garroth Ur'Than |

Garroth will squeeze off two shots, aiming first at the closest man to him. If he hits and drops him, he'll fire at the other; otherwise both shots go at the same man.
crossbow shots (1d20+3=6, 1d8=8, 1d20+3=6, 1d8=2) Are you fricking kidding me? Two 3s in a row? I'm useless!
