I think they intend to lay in wait, here at the docks, outside the warehouse used by Kanto and her gang, for the 'slavers' to come, with a trail of shackled innocents, and then...set them on fire?
Not exactly , the plan would be to wait in the warehouse of the baglady and so out of sight for the slavers to come and then attack them . since we don't know when exactly they'll arrive , Juliare was trying to suggest that only one of us stay awake with a schedule of guard duty

Juliare |

"So, let's wait in shifts in the warehouse tonight, and if they don't come tonight, we'll hit them at the first crack of dawn at the temple itself. Sound like a plan?"
No, if we attack the temple we'll be outlaws .
The only proof we'll have is that of this good lady .
Quick and Spark |

"And the thankful poor that we'll save. I'm sure they'll testify to the harshness of conditions they were forced to live in. No matter. We'll wait. And wait, and wait. As much as we need to."
Quick will take any of the shifts, watching. She'll summon Spark as an Eagle for it's keen eyes as well, 'taking 10' on checks for a 26 Perception(Sight). Here are some rolls for Quick too; 2,18,7,9,2. Spark will perch above the warehouse, hopefully drawing little attention as an innocuous bird. Quick will do her best to stick to the shadows as she keeps an eye out.Stealth checks (27,13,15,24,24)

Quick and Spark |

In game mechanics, they have the same (low-light) vision. Actually, the Owl's +8 modifier to Spot is only in 'shadowy illumination'. Eagles get a +8 all the time. Also, if I dismiss her now to get an owl, I have to wait an hour. I don't want to take the chance.
"Aye, I see what you mean. But Spark's here. If I go sendin' her off to where she comes from, I can't call her back for some time. And we got the bulge now. We're all heeled, so we'll just hang fire. We'll see the elephant soon, I reckon."

Juliare |

In D&D, the eagle is a nocturnal bird ... In fact all animals have low light vision if I remember well .
now if we wanted realistic , we'd go see the discovery channel :)
Spark , I aggree with you that the beggars would say they were harshly treated but I'm afraid that would not justify the death of the guards and Elan . Also , I would not like to have the guard intervene while we are fighting Elan . If she survived , I'm afraid she could just be punished with a slap on the wrist and maybe some money to give the town . And I want to see this .... of a ..... dead and dishonored !

Black Tom |

Betsy Ploom (that's her name) is very accommodating, and you make yourselves as comfortable as possible in her humble abode. Then, one hour later, all hell breaks loose, as Betsy suddenly starts screaming and throwing herself over Hessiah, pulling his hair and scratching at his eyes. "What did you do to my head, you bastard? You messed with my head, you pig's droppings!"
Her screaming seems to set off Spark, who squawks a warning. Moments later, four tough-looking Skandiks burst open what's left of the door and enter. "Bothering the lady, eh?"
Roll for initiatives.
The warehouse is about 30 times 30 feet, so let's call the squares A1 through F6. The entrance is at CD6, and there are window at A2, A5, F2 and F5 high up on the walls. The warehouse you are staking out is on the left, so it would make sense for whoever is keeping watch (I'm guessing Spark and Juliare) to be near A5. Betsy's hideaway is in the opposite corner, made up mostly from broken crates and rags. The thugs start in C6, D6, C7 and D7. I'd say that Betsy is in E5, and Hessiah in E4, with Brock somewhere in the vicinity. Spark is outside, on the roof. If you have any other ideas, please say so.

Juliare |

Initiative 12 + 4 = 16 . Put me in A4 then
what is a skandik and how are they equipped ?

Quick and Spark |

Initiative 20. Quick will ready an action to shoot the thug in C6 if he approaches with hostile intent. Flatfooted Ranged Touch Attack 11, Damage 7 (electric). She'll also call Spark down to assist in combat, clawing the eyes out of the thug in D6. Initiative 20, Attack 10, Damage 3
"Now don't try anything hasty, fellas. There's nothing going on here. Listen to the man here."

Brock Bright-More |

Hope Haun doesn't mind me moving this along. Initiative 18, Intimidate assist 5.
Brock strides over to the thugs (C4), and interposes himself between them. Hefting his greataxe, he nods at them. "Yeah! Listen to the elf. Mind your own business!"

Hessiah |

Black Tom |

"Never mind Beamus. You were warned not to stick your noses in what's none of your business. This is gonna hurt you a lot more than us, har har."
Clearly their intent is hostile, but since speaking is a free action, Hessiah is free to react before the thugs do.
At the same time, you hear the sound of a crossbow going off just outside and Spark swooping down at someone or something.
Quick sends lightning sparkling from her fingers. It hits the nearest thug and he crumples onto the floor, sending the others into a rage.
Hessiah is up, then the thugs, Juliare and Brock.

Hessiah |

Ranged Touch Attack; Fire Dart Damage (1d20+2=15, 1d3=1)
"Since you want to stick your collective noses where they don't belong... have at you then!"
Hessiah takes a five foot step away from the woman and hurls fire at the leader.
Let the hostilities begin.
"Brock, show them who's the real warrior here!"

Black Tom |

The thugs draw their weapons and advance on you, picking their target. Once steps to engage Quick and one attacks Hessiah, while the third goes toe-to-toe with Brock. Three abysmal rolls later... They seem to have trouble swinging their swords in these cramped quarters. None of them hit.
Juliare and Brock are up.

Black Tom |

Brock makes short shrift of his opponent, felling him with a mighty blow. Juliare steps up to defend Quick but gets his spear tangled.
At the same time Betsy launches herself at Hessiah, scrabbling wildly at him. Fortunately she isn't able to get any purchase. Technically a failed attempt to grapple. No AoO as I don't think Hessiah is armed. If I am wrong you could take a swing at the old lady.
Outside Spark seems to be in a tussle with someone, but the noises suddenly fall abruptly silent. Quick casts a glance out the window, just in time to see the man from the Ramshackle striking Spark dead with a vicious blow from his cutlass. Spark dissipates.
Hessiah and Quick are up, then the thugs.

Quick and Spark |

Quick will take a 5' step back, and launch another blast at the thug in front of her. Am now in A4. Ranged Touch 14, Damage 8.
"If'n ya know what's good for ya, you'd stay back. Look where shootin' your mouth off has got ya."
A sizzling arc of electricity bounds out of Quick's fingers and into the thug in front of her. She blows on her finger-tip, and then chooses another target.

Hessiah |

Ranged Touch Attack; Fire Dart Damage (1d20+2=11, 1d3=3)
Hessiah takes another five foor step away from the woman and again tosses a ball of fire at one of the remaining "viking" warriors.
"Brock, we're in need of your great presence!"

Warenhari |

A young man with copper colored skin and jet black hair stopped to stare at the altercation. "Po?" he said. "I believe these kind people are in need of our counsel. What do you think?" The dire rat chirped an affirmative.
A clear voice emerges from a set of clearly untested hide armor and wooden shield. "Stop this senseless violence at once!" A four foot long, fifty pound rat raises its tail in anticipation. Clearly the rat is the bigger threat.

Brock Brightmore |

Brock turn to the puny warrior fighting Hessiah and side swipes the man with his massive axe
Attack: 1d20+6=13
Damage: ( for some reason the dice machine wouldn't roll for me so I rolled by hand) 1D12+6=9

Black Tom |

Quick blasts another thug with her lightning and Hessiah wounds the last man standing with his arcane fire. Seeing he's the only one left he tries to flee but is cut down by Brock.
That only leaves the thug leader (and Betsy, who has collapsed sobbing in a corner). I guess Warenhari is the only one (excepting the rat of course) who will get a shot at him before he makes himself scarce.
So, be my guest.

Juliare |

Tom, unless I'm wrong, we are late at night and there shouldn't be many people around . So since, unless I'm mistaken, Juliare didn't act this round, Juliare will go outside dropping his longbow .
Since he has + 1 BAB to hit , he can pick up his bow while moving so as soon he sees the leader :
Attack 13 + 2 if human + 1 if within 30 feet = ?
Damage 7 + 2 if human + 1 if within 30 feet = ?

Brock Brightmore |

If some one stops him he wont, but Brock would make his way to the man outside (that Juliare is shooting at) as fast he can, even if it looked like he might be out run or behind a bit, he wont leave a man to tell of this brawl.
After Brock brings down the last foe before he runs towards the outside, he looks to Hessiah and says " I am the Warrior!"
if I do by some chance get to hit the guy, here is my rolls
Attack: 1d20+6=14
Damage 1d12+6=13

Juliare |

Robin : You already downed someone this round Brock and I infer from what BT is saying , the leader is intending to put his 30' move to action ....
PBP is confusing because people have to post outside their turn in order to accelerate the game

Warenhari |

Warenhari glanced at the floor of the ruined warehouse, hoping against hope that there was obvious plant growth that had established itself through the decaying floor.
If there is anything showing, I'll entangle. If I think he will still be in within 25' in six seconds...
Warenhari flung down his shield, and drew a symbol in the air. "Aid me, friend beetle!"
Spontaneous Cast: Summon Nature's Ally: Celestial Giant Fire Beetle. However, if target is about to go poof, then...
"Hwæt, Po! After him!" Warenhari shuffled after the dire rat, hide armor banging against his shins and shield waving wildly. As he waddled by, he managed to mutter, "Perhaps there is ample greenery outside!"

Black Tom |

There isn't enough greenery to use Entangle here. Celestial Fire Beetle is on the Summon Monster list, not Summon Nature's Ally, but anyway it has a casting time of 1 round.
The thug makes a dash for it and disappears into an alley. Brock is wearing Scale mail, which makes him too slow to follow. Tracking him inside the city is a bit like finding a needle in a haystack.
xp for the thugs: 350, with Warenhari getting 150. Also a minor correction: +50 xp for Quick and Hessiah for finding some useful information and +20 xp for everyone for the pickpocket.

Quick and Spark |

"Round 'em up," Quick instructs. She helps to bring all the dying thugs close together. "And take away their weapons."
Quick closes her eyes for a second, and a white light lashes out from her, healing wounds 6hp within 30ft. "This'll stop the bleeding."
"As for the sobbing woman, talk to Hessiah."

Hessiah |

"Round 'em up," Quick instructs. She helps to bring all the dying thugs close together. "And take away their weapons."
Quick closes her eyes for a second, and a white light lashes out from her, healing wounds 6hp within 30ft. "This'll stop the bleeding."
"As for the sobbing woman, talk to Hessiah."
"Don't look at me like that! I didn't molest her or anything! I was very nice to her. You guys saw, right?"

Juliare |

'First thing First !'
Juliare goes near the thugs with his sap drawn .
'Ok guys , you get the choice : my sap or Brock's axe ... '
Hopefully this will suffice to persuade the thugs to go to sleep ...' Intimidate 14+4 = 18
After the thugs are asleep , Juliare turn to the rest of the group
'Quick , can you please calm Betsy , you seem to understand what happened and you're the one who has dealt with her so far. Don't hesitate to give her some hooch to help her sleep. Meanwhile I'll explain to our new friend here what's the situation. After this we'll interrogate the thugs one by one . Oh , and Hessiah , I guess we'll speak later when the situation is more calm .'
turning to WarenhariI'm Juliare . and you are ?
assuming Warenhari will at least give his name
In a few words, Warenhari, the lady here is Betsy , a streetperson who has given us some informations to help crack a slaver ring. The blondies there have been sent to 'convince' us to stop. No money in it but the satisfaction to stop someone who abuse her power to betray people she is supposed to help.'
Robin: I want to give time to the others to reply before going to the interrogation scene
