I have been sitting back quietly enjoying the products Paizo produces for a long time now. I got a charter subscription to Pathfinder when Dragon and Dungeon left the fold.

The quality of the products Paizo creates is an amazing value for the money. Both in content and in materials. The new campaign setting is incredible. The list of contributors reads like a who's who in gaming.
I cannot wait to pick up the Beta Pathfinder book at Gencon in a few days. (And anything else they have on display that I cannot live without!

Cosmo does an amazing job in customer support. The few issues I have had were resolved almost immediately. Eric Mona is very informative when he posts. Paizo folks get involved in the forums which I think is awesome. The answer peoples questions on a routine basis. These guys are true gamers.

Lisa Stevens: Congratulations on a fantasic team. Go ahead and plan on selling me at least one of everything you guys produce!!!

To sum it up, "Paizo Just Gets It!!!"

Great job.

Liberty's Edge

No arguments there.

Golarion is strong out of the gate, with a great team backing it up.

Liberty's Edge

Indeed. Great products, great people writing them.

Whoa! Thanks all! Glad you enjoy!

I'll just add my "Me too" post here.

"What's that little Timmy?"

"Why that's a fan, sir! See, he's clapping and carousing with cheer!"

"Little Timmy, every time a fan claps, another leukodaemon gets his wings!"

"Why, that's right sir!"

*thunderous applause*

I've been lurking here for about 5 months. I was looking for a place a little less hostile to the non-4E mindset. Before 4E I was a WotC guy thru and thru. I bought many splatbooks and everything that came out for FR. I didn't purchase 3rd party product, at all. I had a subscription to Dragon but I only got it so that I could get the free mini (sorcerer on black dragon repaint). While I enjoyed the magazine I was only peripherally aware that Paizo was in charge. When the magazine was canceled I was annoyed but not crushed. I was more shocked that WotC would kill the mag one issue before its 30th anniversary issue (360). But I let my subscription go and waited to see what WotC was bringing down the pipe. Then came 4E. I'm not here to bash 4E, it's been said before by others (and more eloquently). I just felt that the game was moving away from me. I've been playing for 25 years and in all that time I've been mostly a D&D guy. I've dabbled in other games over the years but I've always returned to the game that got me started. For the first time it was beginning to look like that would never happen again. I tried to keep an open mind but didn't like what I was seeing. Then I happened upon these message boards. More than anywhere else I was seeing thoughts that mirrored my own. And I began to hear about the AP's. So against my better judgment (I was used to the adventures WotC wrote) I went and picked up Burnt Offerings. What a revelation. This was what I was looking for. Soon after I downloaded the Pathfinder RPG Alpha. I finally caved and became a subscriber last week. Thank you Paizo for staying true to my childhood. This is what D&D should be about.

Narco - if you would like some good quality WotC official 3.5 material, you might want to investigate the Shackled City (Paizo sells the hardcover compilation), Age of Worms (some issues are hard to find) and Savage Tide adventure paths from Dungeon magazine as well.

Reading the first issue for Savage Tide is what earned Paizo my attention (which all started when I saw the cover for #150).

Since I've been here I've been devouring Paizo material. Planning to run Age of Worms with one of my groups in the not to distant future (running RotRL now) and I have a friend who will be running Savage Tide soon.

I have also been gaming for years and while the different iterations of D&D (prior to 4e) were sometimes moderately different than the previous rendition... the game ALWAYS maintained the same "look and feel" I had come to appreciate in my coveted hobby. While the brand name goes in a different direction with the release of 4e, I feel that Paizo has maintained the spirit of the game for me and I am becoming more-and-more a fanboi as I dive deeper into the community/content.

Thanks for the great praise! I know that I have an amazing team here at Paizo. I was having lunch with Ryan Dancey yesterday and I told him that I felt the team I have here at Paizo is as good if not better than the team we put together to launch D&D 3.0 at Wizards of the Coast. And that was a pretty amazing team! But I really think that our team here at Paizo is all kinds of awesome. :)

You know what Paizo really sucks at? Sucking. I've never seen a game company that sucked worse at sucking. Where are all the awful products with a list of bad reviews a mile long? Where are the aggrieved customers ranting on message boards about how wronged they've been and warning others away? Where are the staff posts insulting the fans?

It's like Paizo just doesn't want to suck at all. They aren't even inspiring mad conspiracy theories. What kind of way is that to run a company?

You know, I just have to wonder how good their summer league softball team is. Given the amount of time they spend at their computers, I bet that sucks, too! :P

A true and funny story. There was a time around 3 or 4 years ago when it seemed that we were screwing something or another up on a daily basis with the magazines. It probably wasn't anything that most subscribers even knew about, but we had a bad spell for a while. During that time, we came up with a slogan for the company, "Paizo Publishing, we suck less every day!" It was a bit of a poke at ourselves, was always good for a laugh, and actually mirrored our resolve to get better at what we do so we don't make the same mistakes again and again. You know what? It worked and I haven't said that phrase in years. :)

So you admit to a conspiracy not to suck! :)

I wish to add my kudos to the wonderful folks of Paizo. I am a long time gamer, starting waaaaaaaaay back in 1978 when a friend I played Risk, Diplomacy, and other games (most by Avalon Hill) with regularly brought these funny pink books to the afternoon gaming gathering. We rapidly switched over to the hardback AD&D books, they traveled better and had cooler pictures ::chuckle:: I've been hooked ever since :)

My gaming library, lovingly compiled over the years, combined with my husband's and expanded greatly during our marriage (nearly 22 years and still going!) fills up three and a half bookcases. And one and a half of that is all D&D, AD&D and various incarnations through the decades.

4E is not among them. Most of 3.5 isn't either (wasn't too happy about rebuying books I already had that I was having trouble figuring out what they'd actually changed ;p). But 4E, while it might be a great game, is NOT D&D in far too many ways ...

Pathfinder and Paizo, on the other hand IS :) My husband is running Runelords for our gaming group, I'm running Crimson Throne, and we've talked our best bud into running Second Darkness. We're quickly adding all the goodness that Paizo is printing for PFRPG and Golarian. We are totally in love with the world, the rules, and Paizo.

Keep the love coming! You are the heart of true D&D to me!! :)

Yeah, what he said. (unfortunately I won't be at GenCon to worship them face to face)

I want to chime in and agree with the original post as well. I just opened my Rise of the Runelords map folio today and WOW! What an amazingly useful product!. I just got it because it was one item I missed when I joined the subscription too late. I figured I would run RotRL someday and it might come in useful. This is exactly the sort of thing I need to save me some ink on the old printer and with much higher quality too. I love player handouts. Really adds a lot to the game IMO.

Keep up the great work Paizo! I have been a subscriber from the beginning and I have been extremely satisfied with every single product. Well worth working some extra OT at work to pay for it.

I'll join the lovefest. I think Paizo has done an amazing job. I think that Dragon and Dungeon magazines were at their peak under Paizo's august management. And, as amply noted above, anything with the Pathfinder name on it has been tremendous. There are few Paizo products I do not buy. I've never even had a shipping snafu or a problem with an order.

LOL, the only Paizo blunder that I think was unforgivable was misspelling Eberron on the cover of Dungeon 113. I still laugh at that goof-up.

Great job Paizo. Thank you. I play and DM 4th Edition. But I shall keep my existing Pathfinder subscriptions and download the occasional adventure module because the work from Paizo is so good it transcends the rules and has value way beyond game mechanics.

I recently struck up a conversation that lead to a game, and that lead to another, and another, and now my friends and I are reforming groups that used to game years ago. I found that I am not the only DM who saved their stuff, and I am glad to have found out about your company. I received my first shipment today, and I have already been on the phone with friends to let them know about you.

Thanks for the great products, and especially the responsiveness to your customers. You DO get it, and it IS appreciated!

Funny. I always called the money I spend on Disney as children's 'taxes'. You have reminded me that I should also call my Paizo payments my D&D 'taxes'.

Long live the Queen! (Lisa)

I'm running both Rise of the Runelords and Curse of the Crimson Throne, and we're having so much fun! Paizo is doing a fantastic job!

Dark Archive

Heh that's funny. My friend and I were talking about what we spend over here in Korea, and I said my DnD tax. It should be Paizo tax really since it's pretty much just Pathfinder subs these days.

Sovereign Court

I echo everyone else's thoughts, Paizo has been a breath of fresh air in my gaming life. I only wish I could spend more on their products but a new mortgage and baby say otherwise.
Thanks to all the staff's hard work.

I want to chime in too and say that you guys are made of 100% pure awesomesauce. The only reason I don't have subscriptions to everything Golarion is that I and my whole family are in a world of hurt monetarily at the moment, but I'm trying to scrape together enough to manage at least the AP anyway, and you can count on much more as soon as finances allow.

Long live Paizo, where true gamers rule!

Just wanted to add my name to the list of happy Paizophiles. A few months ago, I barely even knew of yas, but in just a few months, I've become very impressed with the quality of your products and the willingness of your team to roll up their sleeves and respond to the forum crowd, whether the post is for or against Paizo's products.

That's why I'm looking forward to grabbing the Pathfinder Beta and the Golarion Campaign book from you when y'all invade my hometown for Gen-Con. And probably a few other things my bank account will shudder at, too.

I wondered about this too. I thought they would come out with the Issue #360 and tag it as "Coming Full Circle" in addition to the 30th Anniversary. But they let that slip too. sigh.

Anyway welcome aboard Narco...and you too WyvernSting!

And YES! Paizo does 'get it'. They care, goshdarnit! Sounds goofy to say it out loud, but its real.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber

Dragon #360 wasn't the 30th anniversary issue. Dragon launched (as The Dragon) as only bimonthly, going monthly (IIRC) in year 3, so the actual 30th anniversary was issue #344.

I was a subscriber to Dragon since #203, and as soon as I heard about Pathfinder, I knew without a moment's hesitation that I needed to transfer my subscription over. 4e just isn't the kind of game I want to play mechanically, or flavor-wise, and WotC has proven itself with the GSL to not be the kind of company I want to buy products from anymore, so Paizo has to "endure" the terrible pain of yet another obsessed fan/superscriber.

Dark Archive

The only reason I'm not a charter subscriber is the fact that the first issue coincided with my last months in Iraq. Once I was home and settled, I immediately subscribed and bought up all of my back issues I'd missed. :D

Of course, this did have the benefit of letting me grab the coveted Karzoug-cover Pathfinder #1. >.>

Ah, the good ol' days. <sob>

Honestly, though, it's still true. We keep finding out how to make things run smoother. Some tasks that use to be real problems are tons easier now, some projects that needed love are all hugs and extra help, Pathfinder's actually on schedule, we got new comfier leg shackles for our desks, etc etc. So yeah, every day the suck quotient gets a little bit closer to reaching that hypothetical 0 and we're not going to stop reaching. At least not until we put out the PERFECT RPG book.. like, The Pathfinder's Guide to the Dragon-Drow-Demon-pocolypse Adventure Path 900-page hardcover, boxed set, hologram (only $14.49)!

Dont mean to throw porridge on the love fest but the editing for the guide to Darkmoon Vale was a little hit & miss

ie
Piren's Bluff or Perin's Bluff?
Artfell forest or Arthfell forest?

and my personal favourite

" free reign"

Dont get me wrong it was still great I just figured this came out when you were under time pressure/ catch up mode.

BTW as far as you guys Just Getting it, I totally agree and freakishly your products seem to be getting better. I never thought I would see a campaign/adventure path better than Masks of Nyarlathotep but CoCT was breathtaking and I havent got the last one yet.
