We're actually at Mel's place this week, due to transportation issues. I'll email her tonight to ensure it's OK, and send you a map and directions.
She and Jim are playing 7th level characters in a scenario that's a bit over their PCs' heads. They've done incredibly well so far, largely due to out-of-the-box thinking and creative use of NPCs as unwitting allies -- but having Cadogan and/or Agun at hand could spell the difference between success or death as they head into the end game this week.

Yes, you're looking at more or less the Beta version (if the bound copies I handed out in December 2009 are the Alpha release). My hope was to get the final rules compiled by this December -- one year for Alpha playtesting, one year for Beta, then final -- but it may be delayed a couple months because I'm a little bit behind... due to a very prolonged (and ultimately fruitless) detour involving an attempt to standardize class powers (viz., I was trying to merge bloodlines, mysteries, specialist schools, and domains into a single unified mechanic, and failed).
Final rules documents will have Chapter headings at the tops of the pages.

Ok, so I noticed we're supposed to take a couple of traits now (from the APG, I presume)?
I've rebuilt both characters, and I must say, I think I like the changes. I feel a little bad about losing Responsive Duelist (guess it got folded into something else), but, overall, I think both characters are better equipped to survive now.

Traits?
The full list only if you're human; others get shorter pick lists, as shown in the Races document. Rather than assigning points that aren't really points for racial abilities (like the new Paizo method), I simply declared that each race gets two racial feat abilities (on a par with feats) and two racial traits (on a par with half-feats), and try to keep them more or less balanced that way.
That means you don't get all the core rules racial abilities PLUS traits; rather, the lesser racial abilities ARE traits.

Hi guys, I'm a gamer moving to the Houston area in the first week of April. This thread seems to have the most activity, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to introduce myself and hopefully meet some cool gamers in the area. I'm a Chicago native who'll be moving to the Westchase area. I'm hoping to find some Pathfinder Society play and maybe some Adventure Path campaigns or some homebrew. I've looked over some of the word documents in this thread with alternate rules and they're very intriguing.
Ideally, I'd like to get 4 hours of solid gaming in every other week at a minimum. I'm also willing to GM now and again although I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the greatest at it.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to my move and I'll hope to meet some of you in the not too distant future.
Hey, what do you know?! He did post in this thread!

Ok, looking over the new rogue:
A) I may have to completely rebuild Cadogan again. I might just take one level in fighter, as there are a lot of goodies now I probably wouldn't have passed up on the rogue list! It's going to be interesting to see how he turns out under the new paradigm.
B) What are the 0th level "skill tricks"?
The "mojo" mechanic looks workable, but I think Cadogan may be lagging a bit, and he has plenty of "mojo"...
;-)

A) Go for it!
B) There aren't any -- sorry. Just delete that column.
C) I added up Cadogan's gear this morning and he's actually above max -- we can go over it when we get a chance. Mostly that was an effort to divorce power from money, though, which is one of the things which 3rd ed. does very wrong, in my opinion.

Re: equipment. I can probably lose the ring of invisibility as I can do that as a skill trick after I rebuild, and I'm not even sure what the Boots of the Mire do, so those are negotiable as well.
I can probably give up the horn of fog as well, or bequeath it to another party member who might have more use for it.
The ring of animal friendship I use mostly to keep horses from throwing me and guard dogs from ripping my throat out, so I see a lot of use for that.
;-)
The only thing I lack are the new skills doc and the fighter doc to rebuild. And the cleric for Joachim. I have feats, equipment, rogue and the campaign stuff in the last e-mail.

I'll send everything tonight if I get a chance. Don't worry too much about gear yet; I just threw numbers into a spreadsheet without regard for whether they made sense.
One thing I like is the synergy between the horn of fog and the boots (which, IIRC let you walk on shallow water and let you see through fog and mist... I'll have to look that up and make sure).

I kind of want to rebuild Falandar as the wood elf he was originally, but I know that his and Fiachra's interaction would have been a lot different. Plus it would clash with the way he is now. :/
Fiachra hates everyone, so no difference there!
Another option is to go the route my friend Mike did with his character "Wolf," and make him half wood elf/half high elf (Appendix A).

What is the 4th level class feature "surprise attacks" for the rogue? I cannot find an explanation in the text.
Surprise Attacks (Ex): Starting at 4th level, opponents are always considered flat-footed to you during a surprise round, even if they have already acted. You can take a move action, a standard action, and a swift action during a surprise round, rather than being limited to a move action or a standard action.
Added to main document. Thanks!

You look familiar. Do I know you?
...nor will any hot-headed would-be heroes sally into South Province except under my direct and absolute command. Any soldier disobeying any aspect of these orders will be met with court-martial. Any unit leader who fails to heed these preliminary statements will receive the maximum penalty, up to and possibly including a Morganti execution.
Luckily, you are neither a soldier nor unit leader, nor am I still alive to object to your conduct.

Is there a thread for this latest version of the rules where I can post compla--er questions if I have them? Or should I just do so here?
The thread for the latest rules is HERE.

My SCAP game won't pick back up until January, if at all. I may lose two invested players and have to accommodate two players I have yet to meet. And I can't resolve my reenlistment status until March, so there is uncertainty about me having this nice stable employment, and being in Texas long enough to wrap up my campaign.
Bleh. We live in interesting times.

Kirth, I have a four day weekend this weekend. Are you available Friday/Saturday/Sunday for anything?
P.S. Welcome back!
