Check yourself out on RateMyProfessors.com or profrater.com. My father-in-law did and was actually surprised by mostly decent results.

Well what do you know? I'm actually listed on ratemyprofessors.com. Granted I only have one rating, but it's a good one. Not bad for my first year...now if I could just get a little chili pepper in my listing, then we're talking.

My girlfriend vetted me through ratemyprofessor.com before our first date.

Made any of my players cry? Not yet, but I'm young. I have come close to making DMs cry. And Molech has personally excommunicated me from any of his games as a precautionary measure after seeing my suggestions for a Bard's use of the spell Unseen Servent.

I tried warning the kids I'd catch them if they tried cheating.
I had one teacher who said that if somebody cheated and got away with it, their semester average would automatically be a 100%. But if they got caught, they got a zero for the class. Apparently, nobody's tried.

Nice Catch-22 your teacher had there. :D

From a student's perspective, I have never understood this. I have seen it since gradeschool right through to the present in my junior year. You know the rules. You know you broke them. You got caught. How in the world is this the professor's fault?

I'm also always amused by the way my peers evaluate good and bad intructors. Good ones are the people who never ask you to do anything; i.e., don't actually teach. The ones that give assignments and commit the horrid sin of trying to shove some knowledge into said peers' thick skulls are mean, nasty people out for blood!

Yeah, I've always thought that was odd. I mean, I did hate homework, but as long as the teacher could make the subject interesting, I felt the class was worthwhile. I had one chemistry teacher my senior year in high school who felt it necessary to take the class to a lab every day, which itself isn't bad, but our "experiments", to use the term as loosely as humanly possible, were little more than boiling water to observe its boiling point(and even was that one day). She treated the students like a bunch of kindergarteners.

Ah ha, see, it's not my fault; It's not my fault!

(psst, Saern, can I quote this?)
Only if you give me a proper citation!

Paraphrased from either Han Solo or Lando Calrissian in Empire Strikes Back. :)

No, I've excommunicated you from my games because you call me "Molech" instead of "Ray"!

Of course, the fact that you would consider playing a Bard doesn't help ;)

Just impose a word count minimum rather than a page count minimum. Works like a charm.

I ask for neither word nor page minimum. Students do cheap ass stuff sometimes anyway.

I just went to RateMyProfessors.com to check. I'm not on there, damnit! I typed in two colleagues and they aren't on there either. So I typed in a guy I know from another school; he's not there. Then I tried three more old buddies at yet another school and none of them were there either. That's seven profs from three schools. WTF?!?

Yeah, I'm not on there either. Don't worry about it. I've been nominated twice for part-time prof of the year but no one has bothered to put me up there. My sister is up there and she's taught a tenth of the number of courses I have ... blah!

I make people cry all the time. I don't know if they're players or not, though.

Seriously though, when I play a campaign that has a great storyline arc in it I get really attached to my characters. I've been known to choke up a let fall a tear or few. Personally I don't see much wrong with it, however there is a difference between experiencing a great story and throwing a hissy cow. ;)

I teach at media schools. I'm lucky that way. I don't have a listing for one place that I taught at for 5 years. Because it's a state art school?

Sorry I'm so slow; I was out of town this past week... but it is winging its way through cyberspace now. Let me know how you like it. :)
