What?... When did these blue outline boxes around everything start?

Scarab Sages

Why....they've ALWAYS been there. Don't you remember?

I'm not sure what he's talking about Gary. Are you?

Liberty's Edge

What I don't understand and I don't like is why some posts start aligned with the top right of the picture, and some start below the picture.

I'd like to request that all posts maintain an even left margin.

And if Paizo isn't joking about not knowing what is happening, there are blue lines around all the pics (that take you to the user's page) and around the Paizo logo in the top left corner. Last night my computer did an auto-update, so it may only effect users of Windows Vista and IE.

*Quickly Opens his Explorer instead of Firefox*

Well ain't that just strange..

I update Firefox 2 days ago... but the blue outlines did not show until today..

No joke—I have no idea what you mean about that one either. You're saying some messageboard posts appear to begin *below* the avatar image?

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

OK, thanks for the pic. It looks like your browser is deciding to render the border for images surrounded by hyperlink tags. We haven't changed anything recently that would cause that behavior. Our HTML (which isn't the greatest in the world by any standard) does include the "border=0" attribute that should prevent the browser from including the border.

I'm giving either your browser or your operating system the stinkeye.

Yeah but Both Browsers?...Firefox and Explorer?

And I have not update my OS *Vista* in a few days...

hmmmm Conundrum

yup your did for an example

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

Hmmm. I just fired up Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 on Windows 2000 and I'm seeing the borders there, but not in Firefox.

Dark Archive Bella Sara Charter Superscriber

It happened to me too for a while, and then went back to normal. I was using the same internet browser I always use to view the site. This sounds like Cosmo's fault if you ask me.

geez..no wonder we have so many problems.. you are using Windows 2000 :-p

Web server an Windows 98 pc?.... or maybe a Windows ME?... ;-)

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

Hey, Windows 2000 is the best version of Windows ever!

Actually most everybody around here uses Macs. My Windows 2000 install is run via Parallels, mainly for testing crazy IE bugs and whatnot.

Liberty's Edge

I'm glad Dragnmoon can post screenshots.

Besides the border issue, the posts seem rather random as far as where it chooses to start (the top of the post next to the avatar or below the avatar). The screenshots he has posted look like my view as well.

Scarab Sages

I'm running on XP with IE 7.0.5730.13, no problems.

Give me a seconds, I'll check my Vista laptop...

EDIT: Still no problem...updating though.

FINAL EDIT: Still no problem.

The Exchange

Its happening to me too.
I think it started after todays firefox update.

Now Im feeling claustrophobic

Liberty's Edge

I updated Firefox yesterday, but it didn't start for me until about 30 minutes ago. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

EDIT: I closed Firefox and restarted it. The problem's gone.

EDIT 2: But only until I restarted Firefox again.

EDIT 3: And now it's gone again.

Yep... never seen that before. Doesn't seem to be much reasoning for why it breaks or not. Has that been happing long, or did it just start too?

Oh—and thanks for all the screenshot effort—it's really helpful!

I never experienced it before today, and it only occurred for me for about an hour or so.

For me, it only happened when the blue outlines were present.

They are related. We've figured out *what* is happening—our image tags are either getting munged (or aren't being generated properly) sometimes.... now we're working on the "why." I have a guess that Gary isn't buying, but since it's all we've got, we're giving it a shot.

If I'm right, the problem will be gone by tomorrow. If anybody still sees it on Sunday, let us know.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

If Vic's crazy theory is right then the problem should be solved now. Or Cthulhu is waking. Or something.

That's because you went insane when Cthulhu woke.

they're gone here also.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

I don't know if I want to live in a universe where Vic's theory is right.... But then again, hey, laissez les bon temps roulez!

If Vic is right then I blame cosmic rays. Sunspots. Evil spirits. Ghosts. Cthulhu.

Spoiler:
And, especially, Cosmo rays.

The fact you suggest this possibility leads me to believe it has happened, and we are all blissfully unaware. In fact, right now I am typing gibberish, but your insane minds are interpreting the words to your choosing.

Gary Teter wrote:

If you want, you can blame us. We (not me in particular, as I haven't touched said server in a few months) managed to crash our Oracle server at work yesterday. I'm sure that had repercussions across the seven internets.

Liberty's Edge

It is all gone here now, as well.

Good job proposing a crazy theory that seems to work. Like string theory.

I'm getting a mix. Gary and Vic, for instance are showing up in this thread sans blue box around avatar, while the OP, DeadDMWalking and others DO have a box still.

Vista and Firefox 3

If you're talking about the thin line with the rounded corners spaced out a bit from the avatar, that's not the bug we're talking about. That's a special box that designates Pathfinder superscribers—the folks who have subscriptions to all of our Pathfinder lines.

The bug we're talking about would create a rectangular box outlining the avatar image (with no white space in between).

So we're a bug now, Vic!?

So THAT's what that box is for!

You know, I had held off on getting that companion subscription because I knew it would be free for the first issue and the Superscriber tag wouldn't display on the alias I use as my primary posting identity, but you just convinced me.

EDIT: Ooh, box. Cool.

It's a trap!
