Eltariel Elessand |

Eltariel flips her book to the next magic missile page and again recites the arcane spell written there. As the page crumbles and fragments five blazing orbs of force flash from her fingertips to hammer into the wisp unerringly.
Damage: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 4, 1) + 5 = 20

"I may be uncertain on the matter of law and chaos, but when it comes to good against evil, I know where I stand," Eltariel puts away the book.
"Layjiani, my friend, you have been acting a little ... oddly, since we arrived here. Since you donned the ring, in fact. Not badly out of character, but certainly more logically and less intuitively than you were. I think it may have effected you in some ways, although not in any major ones."

Holgur |

Holgur winces in pain as he runs his hand over the spot where the wisp burned him. He turns to check on Aude then silently gestures in the direction of Eltariel and Layjiani. He sheathes his sword and quietly steps near to the two women, hoping that he can place himself close enough to grab either of them if they seem about to shed blood. He tries not to think about the magic Eltariel commands nor the speed of Layjiani's arrows.

A search of the area reveals a pile of pine needles concealing a small pouch containing..It includes a cinnamon-colored tourmaline (140 gp), a necklace which radiates magic and is identified as a necklace of adaptation, and a small pouch containing what appears to be 12 pp however closer examination reveals the coins to be an alloy of Mithril and Platinum and could be worth 200gp each to a collector..
535XP each

Layjiani |

"Layjiani, my friend, you have been acting a little ... oddly, since we arrived here. Since you donned the ring, in fact. Not badly out of character, but certainly more logically and less intuitively than you were. I think it may have effected you in some ways, although not in any major ones."
Sparing a quick glare for Holgur, somewhat insulted that he seems to think Eltariel may be in danger from her, Layjiani nevertheless turns her full focus on the elvin druid. With a mixture of confusion and intense thought in her face she replies "But how can this one be any different? Her thoughts do be clear, surely none can argue that it do be the tennents of law and order in the world which do keep chaos and destruction at bay...but..."
Pausing in a moment of reflection Layjiani looks down at her hand, turning at pulling slightly at the ring which will not come off. Rasing her head once again she continues in a less sure voice "But when this one do remember her past, your words do have the ring of truth, for it do seem this one did not always think and feel this way...can it be that this ring do be the source of change? But it do no not feel wrong...this one do feel as if she should have always felt this way..."
Breaking off, the ranger looks off into the distance, obviously searching within herself for answers

Eltariel Elessand |

If the discussion is over, Eltariel returns through the thorn wall to the dryad's tree.
"The will-o-wisp decided it's own fate by attacking us," she reports, "it is destroyed. Will you open the wall of thorns to my companions? We will need to go deeper if we are to retain the balance here."

DM Wellard |

The dryads face breaks into a sad smile.."so it is done..too late for my friends but a little of the light may return here now..I thank you druid.." She waves a hand and the wall of thorns vanishes..
she turns to Eltariel.."I would offer you a reward " she says softly and enters her tree returning a moment later with bag that she tips onto the ground "one item of these you may pick" she states.
“A sack, to lighten one’s burdens.”
“A ring, to shield you from the rains of the Waste.”
“An amulet, to harden skin like the armor of a tree.”
“A circlet, to smite foes with the fire of the sun.”
“A cloak, to ward you from many threats to mind and body."

Eltariel Elessand |

Eltariel looks over them carefully.
"We have a journey in darkness ahead of us, and you mentioned 'corrupted' orcs from below. I think the circlet will serve us best, to defeat what lies ahead of us," Eltariel tells the dryad. "I thank you for your generosity, I'll return in moment with the others of my band. We would dearly like to know what else may lie ahead, if you can tell us anything of it."
Eltariel calls in the rest of the party.

Holgur |

Before he joins Eltariel, Holgur looks closely at her in order to detect any signs that she has been bewitched. Tales of forrest spirits that enchant travellers make him circumspect about meeting one. But, he decides, Eltariel is unlikely to have fallen under such an enchantment. And, besides, Holgur does not think he is handsome enough to interest a dryad. So it should be safe to go.

DM Wellard |

Holgur is absolutely right the dryad shows no more than a passing interest in the Skandik. Her eyes do light up at the sight of Avinar however but as he only has eyes for Eltariel she just smiles sadly and moves on to open the second wall off thorns.
"not everyone you meet in there will be an enemy" she intones softly "Should you meet my friends please tell them I miss them"

A note for anyone reading this...
At this point we lost both Holgur and Gashelle as active players..being unable to continue with the adventure with only half the party active and not wishing to suddenly introduce additional characters for no good reason I decided to reset the game. The new thread can be found HERE
